Love it! The Honda/Mendeola combo is a fairly bulletproof setup. Looking forward to day two. The cocktail dune hour is our jam as well. Something about the sounds and views and nothingness makes the work week tolerable lol Appreciate you posting 👍
We just drove it relaxed this trip. Always worry being solo. Although day two we did hit it harder. The dog in the car cracked us up too. That’s pretty much spot on.. the end of the day booze cruise. Thanks brother. Summers coming quick!
I am new to the whole desert scene I live in rancho Cucamonga, I never been to the dunes I have a 2007 Honda TRX 450r I was invited to dumont this year but I did not go cuz my friend told me I would not make it in the sand with my dirt tires ,is my atv strong enough for the dunes and do I really need sand tires or can I just ride with my dirt tires???
The TRX 450 is a great quad! I’ve done plenty of sand with knobbies only. You’d be fine if you’re heavy with the throttle. You don’t have to have paddles, but it will be a lot more fun and a lot less work with them.
So when I first started watching your videos you were in a turbo rzr. Is the rail that much better or do you miss the sxs at all? I mean a rail is great for Glamis and I would love to have one. As far as other desert trips that’s where I would miss the sxs. Have you ever been to St. Anthony Idaho sand dunes? That place is great i surely recommend it if you haven’t . AndSandhills resort was a good place to stay with full hookups and not far from the town of Rexburg where everything you need is there restaurants and stores and fuel.
As for just the dunes, the sand rail is that much better. At least for us. Pure power and stability just doesn’t compare in regards to the fun factor. If we lived anywhere else though, where trails were the main type of riding, we’d absolutely still have a sxs. 80% of the time we’re in sand though. I’m sure we’ll have one again so we can do more of both. I haven’t been to St Anthony but I’ve always wanted to go. On the bucket list for sure. Thanks for the tips, I took note so I can look up this resort and hopefully plan something.
