Thanks for your videos of Yellowstone. You explain things very well and also point out that things can change at any given time. I've been there for 10 days of beautiful October weather and then overnight we had rain turn to ice followed by 8" of snow which closed all roads. One thing to mention is the NP passes. I have the lifetime senior pass which gets me into any NP without an entry fee and also gets me 50% off of camping. The regular yearly pass costs $80 and pays for itself quickly. Example, camp in the park for 4 nights and you save $35 entry fee and about $22 per night makes the savings greater than the cost of the pass. Keep the great videos coming.

Thanks Ash for the video. We are total 40’ overall length. Do you think we are gonna fit at slough creek? Can you recommend your favorite campground in the park for your set up? Thanks
@DirtInMyShoes
@DirtInMyShoes Год назад
Sites at Slough Creek are a little tight. There is one that is pretty spacious, but the other ones are smaller and would be more difficult. We have had no problem fitting our setup in Madison, Canyon, Bridge Bay, Grant, and Mammoth. If you don't stay along that middle road, I would stay a few nights in the south and few in the north. I probably prefer Madison over all of them though -- good location and lots of trees!

thanks for all the info, I have a question specifically regarding yellowstone, we have a Truck camper, that is completly hard sided when closed, but to sleep we pop up the top which is soft sided, canvas/ plastic material. Its a Fourwheel camper thats the brand. is that not allowed in Yellowstone? Planning on going in September
@DirtInMyShoes
@DirtInMyShoes 9 месяцев назад
It's allowed in Yellowstone, just not in the campgrounds that require hard-sided camping only, such as Fishing Bridge.

@@DirtInMyShoes Thank you so very much for your response! Good to know. sorry I have another question please, its shows on the reservation site, around the 10 of Sept. a lot of X'x and it says "out of season" on some campgrounds, are those opening closer to date? I thought things dont close until October? We are looking at 3 nts in Grand Teton and 3 nts in Yellow stone. around the 8th of sept.
@DirtInMyShoes
@DirtInMyShoes 9 месяцев назад
@@irenehaaf4786 if they are x'd out and it says out of season, then they are closed. Some campgrounds start closing down pretty early in both parks.

Great video! Do happen to know when canceled reservations for the Lodge Campgrounds get reposted as available (i.e. 8am Mountain Time)? We have a 19 ft truck and 23 ft travel trailer so I think I need to get a 40 ft site, if they become available rather than try the 30 ft sites that are available to book now.
@DirtInMyShoes
@DirtInMyShoes 3 месяца назад
I don't think there's a specific time -- they should just show up on the site as they are canceled. But I know some people who have had better luck getting cancellations by calling the phone number instead!

This so helpful! I have a question - we plan to tent camp with our family of 8 (six children ages 11 and under) next summer and looking at the sites, they all say max tent size is either 12x12 or two 8x8 tents. This doesn't make any sense to me. Couldn't I do 16x12 then? Would love if you could explain this to me!
@DirtInMyShoes
@DirtInMyShoes 11 месяцев назад
Haha that is super confusing! It's probably going to depend on the site more than anything. I would call and ask, but otherwise, you'll probably be ok if you can get there early enough in the day to get a site that will work.

Hey ! Congrats for your video! Real helpful! We are leaving in Florida! Usually we never go far with our Motorhome 30f long! We don’t towing car. Question ? Can we drive around with our rv or put it on camping and rental a car. It is hard to plan this trip. It is going to be in July 2025 If you can help me with. Appreciate it! Thank you so much!

You can drive around with your RV in this park, but finding parking is going to be the biggest issue you'll run into if you're in a large vehicle! You'll find a ton of trip planning articles on dirtinmyshoes.com.

@DirtInMyShoes
@DirtInMyShoes 8 месяцев назад
I think the most scenic campgrounds in the park are either Norris or the ones in the north of the park. But it totally depends on what you're hoping to do when you're there because you don't want to stay in the north if your plan is to spend a ton of time near Old Faithful...it would just be too much driving at that point :)

@@roebucksadventure If a scenic spot is the most important to you, then I'd stick with the campgrounds in the North or Northeast areas of the park. You can find more info about those here: www.dirtinmyshoes.com/all-about-camping-in-yellowstone-national-park/

If you're all a part of the same family (not extended family) then you should be ok. If you're traveling with another family, then they will be much stricter about that.
