Fabulous video again Tom. I love the camping videos. Your original wild camping video is what inspired me to start my wild camping youtube channel. There's no finer feeling than opening your tent overlooking the fells and lakes. I've only recently begun to take the photography side of things a little more seriously. Great tips as always...Oh and well jealous of the camper. 😀. Thanks for sharing. Paul
For what it's worth.. I've been following you for years, and these field-based videos showing you out in nature and focused outside of the normal RU-vid grind are always my favorites. It's like we're brought along for the ride while you explore two things you're so obviously passionate about (nature and photography). I'm deeply in love with both subjects, but don't work the sort of career that let's me enjoy them as often as I'd like. Your videos give me that sense of connection despite being stuck in a corporate office.
Landscape photography is more than just landscape photography. I often find the photograph itself to be a bonus, although functioning as a main driving force to get out there and experience. Thanks again for another beautiful video filled with passion and love for the outdoors!
It's funny, you talk up/down the image/s you're taking so much that one would be mistaken into thinking that they're going to be mediocre or 'not that great', then we see the image/s and they're breathtaking.... every. single. image... it really is magical. Top notch mate.
Pffft. Drove 1,000 kms for the day just to see if there was anything worth photographing. There was, but not that trip. Love your videos. Such a refreshing change from many others.
Excellent call on when to move on or stay. Good advice to have a possible back up composition in these instances where you know the conditions may not pan out on your main interest. Thank you for all your content sir.
Hi @Thomas, I’m feeling very demotivated these days, looking like every door is closed and I’m not gonna make it. But your videos are the only thing that is giving me some positivity, some light. Thankyou And the picture of the tree is looking like a painting. You are an amazing Artist. ❤️
I've only recently discovered your work Thomas and I have to say you're already one of my favourite landscape photographers. Your attitude towards photography and other people in general is exemplary. You're inspiring and I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking you give other the courage to just get out there and try. Thank you 👍
Good video because it shows the reality of landscape photography, main thing is to enjoy the scenery and being outdoors just as much as taking pictures and then it evens out.
Oh nice, walla crag starting from the ashness bridge was my very first hike in the lakedistrict 2 month ago! Thanks for that video Thomas, brings back all memorys! And what a beautiful shot of that tree i really like that and the squarecrop is just a perfect match!
My own passion for photography is really about capturing hiking and camping experiences - so I really appreciate and admire these videos especially. An area that challenges me on my longer trips is the weight of gear. Mostly, I just don't worry and carry a little heavy - however, the tripod has long been the one item that challenges me. I recently picked up a special tripod head plate that allows me to use my hiking poles as two of the legs and a pole as the third. I'd be interested in hearing your take on lightweight tripods and their alternatives (like Gorillapods). The item I used on my lasts two week-long hikes was called the TrailPix Ultralight tripod.
Nice when you can FEEL the light change. Still a good capture when the image in mind doesn’t happen. Lemonade out of lemon for sure. Thanks for sharing
I may be at work right now but I will show you watching this when I get home And by the way there's nothing wrong spending the night somewhere in the woods for a photograph the next morning I've done it many times that I've enjoyed it many times
Getting out and camping is worth the effort and the experience is very rewarding. If you happen to capture an image as well then you have a bonus. I enjoyed this video Tom and the sentiments you express about the photographic opportunity. Cheers.x
I really like the way you are growing! Your style much more refined and really explaining what caught your eye! A true sign of professionalism! You truly are becoming a Great Photographer! I will keep following!
I have to say these are my favourite kind of vlogs. Reminiscent of your earlier ones before you were quite so famous :) Inspirational as always. Thank you!
I really enjoy the camping and hillwalking videos! Shame you missed out on the bigger shots, but I think the tree was a good choice. "Painterly" is definitely the word - quite impressionistic.
I like the fact that you choose to not concentrate on having sharp leaves rather capturing the color and mood...sometimes i get too mich disturbed if leaves are not sharp in my photos... thanks for making another great video
Loved the only image you took, very simple but a nice woodland shot. Always next time, the light might be more favourable. Any visits planned to your local coastline. Love Seascape Photography.
The journey the place but eventually all came down to why I love watching your videos. You found something that not many would. Love the shot. Take care, Sithee 😁👍
Glad to see you back out in a tent Tom! Wonderful video, I really enjoy the explanation about the blurry leaves. Looking forward to watching the next one, Cheers!
If you enjoyed the experience, it's always worth it. Out around Castleton today, walking in the rain with our border collie desperate to explore. The images ain't much to write home about, but loved the outing. Well being sky high.
not a fan of vlogs but have to say I enjoy this one, not really a landscape shooter but find the images on here a refreshing change to a lot of other landscape phvlologgers (new term?) not a bombastic or predictable
I love this channel. The vlogs and the the music really goes with it perfectly! I look forward to every one you put out! Keep up the great content! I love it!
Love your videos. Just found out about you and your work not too long ago. Your pictures are amazing!! Such beautiful views! You are so talented! Keep doing what you're doing and letting us follow your journey! The places you go to are surreal & breathtaking. I have been catching up also with your older videos & binging on those.
The big suction camera mount in your windscreen is illegal by the way. You need to mount it so the cups are outside the sweep of the wiper blades. You are only permitted a maximum of 40mm diameter of obscured area in the swept area of the screen. Basically the size of the old tax disc holder, for obvious reasons.
I really love all of your videos Thomas. You make me want to go out and shoot. Very inspiring in all that you talk about. Would hope to one of these days meeting up with you. Also love your IG page as well. Cheers!!!
Very nice episode again Thomas. Love your camping videos from the UK. Thoroughly enjoyed it! Now was that little Nigel Danson quote sneakily thrown in on purpose? ;-).
Rydal water car park...Derwent water??? Portrait of a birch tree, 1:1 square crop...mostly...works best for trees. Love the camping concept for weight saving. Not too sure about the rehydrate food though...rather bring some sandwiches; and beer of course. Great to see you don't simply boost the ISO to get the shot. Square crop = square space, more squareness than you could shake stick at. Gotta keep your sponsor happy man, you almost forgot to include them in the first part of the video anyway. Thanks Tom for sharing and all you do for photography + creative inspiration.
Tom, We loved the video and the thought you put into finding another opportunity (lemon vs lemonade I guess) and your final shot. I tend to focus (no pun intended) on sharpness and have learned an alternative view on the value of softness. Thank you.
The moving foliage makes the image look like a Monet. Beautiful. BTW I greatly enjoyed your Nature Visions seminars. Hope you've got your voice back by now.
Thomas, really your videos, very informative and encouraging for my own photography.Did you ever explore the mirrorless camera option. The latest inovations in all the aspects of cameras and lens, seems the new way to go.
Where I live, in contrast, everything surrounds you is great composition to me, eventually you took a rather simple shot, I think a shot inside the forest showing all the beautiful green trees hiding in the shadows could look much better, it easier to delete images rather than think about those you missed, anyway I always liked the atmosphere in your videos, it's like watching mini-series with asmr :-)
Nice image, also good to see that blurry is fine :) One thing, it looks like that the top of the tree is cut but that may not be the case and the white line around the square gives that effect
Beautiful image! Love the wild camp adventures which have inspired me to put a rucksack and 2 man tent on my xmas list and hopefully get out and do some in the lakes or Scotland, cheers.
Nice one Thomas.... How true that it is about being out there... I have lost count of how many times I have walked all day without taking any pictures, at least meaningful ones, but still enjoyed being out amongst nature with the good company of a dear friend.... By the way, where did you get those gloves with only the thumb and index finger cut out and flip over bit? I have been dreaming of a pair of gloves like those for years and never seen one... probably never looked hard enough LOL....
I often go out and just get inspired by one scene that smacks me in the face with a wet haddock....we dont have to take loads of images...its up to the individual person...i often go out and 'make' nothing ...i never make a capture if i'm not inspired by a scene but hey ho...thats me ! Enjoyed vid btw
