Promised land is one of our favorites, we have camped there many times, on both sides, and stayed in a rustic cabin, BUT the last time we were there kayaking in lower lake, we came within 30 ft of a black bear sitting in the lake eating water lilies like strands of spaghetti, we quietly paddled by, later we learned he had been in the dumpsters and the rangers had shot him with rubber bullets! So we figured he was sitting in the lake cooling off his behind, what an awesome experience
camped there a few times. got called out by the rangers for taking the kids out on the lake after 11pm to star gaze. you can see the milky way on moonless nights from the lake. kids had me making a nightly run to the ice cream shop and mini golf business just up the road. I rediscovered spam a few years ago. I usually have it chopped up with scrambled eggs.
@@Mariekr49 there's a few little stores out on the main road. nothing within walking distance, but only a short drive. main road is a two lane blacktop, not too much traffic.
FOX at timestamp - 18:26 - I watched the video and as you returned to your campsite, you were focused on the tent and the firepit. I noticed a little movement in the background on the downed log. I thought it was a red cardinal, but I believe it is a red fox, looking to steal some spam! It jumped down to the left and disappeard into the brush. Time Stamp - 18:26
I especially enjoy the camping episodes. However, I'll trade ya the katydids for the tree frogs! Naomi was certainly glowing. Oh, I saw some good reading material!
Family used to camp there for a week every summer in late 70's-early 80's, beautiful place, fond memories of fishing, remembering the roads being gravel.
Hi Cliff, a really nice, peaceful campsite also very clean I noticed. I loved your lanterns, you should use one of those for any scary stories you do for October. The flashlight was pretty cool, just what you need for camping because it has a multitude of uses. Thank you for sharing, much love. xx ❤
My mom has been telling me this is her favorite campground, thank you for sharing this video so I am able to see it. I always stay in Hickory Run when I come up, that is my fav. Really enjoying your videos, again thanks!
Promised land I would go a lot in the late sevendys early eighties each. Site had no electricity and pickerel point had pit toilet I would camp down the lower road
This was like an ASMR experience. ...it just seemed therapeutic to me. Idk what for, but very pleasant. Used to love these spots you find. Cooks Forest was hard to beat. But since I got my own land and built I havnt camped since nor able due to responsibilities. But. "Camp Happy" is sanctuary. Nightly feeding raccoons, possums, deer and stray cat. Like the saying if you build it they will come ....if you put out food , you will soon be putting out more food. But that's ok.. A fellow Pennsylvanian from Southern Mercer County.
I really enjoyed this. I'm not familiar with the area you stayed in even though I'm a regular visitor to Promised Land. Thanks for sharing! Peace & Prayers.
This is my 4th time to watch this , it’s a really good video, love the LANTERNS, and Naomi really looked pretty so pretty in camp and in that light !!!!! 💕💕🍒🍒🍄🌷🌷🍄🍄🍒💕💕💕💕🍒🍄
Take a hike back to the two lakes east of the main road that runs north through the park.Bruce lake and one other, both are remote but the furthest has a nice resting spot just off the trail!
Great video as always. That's another beautiful NEPA park, and what could be a better name than Promised Land? Perfect. One note on the Coleman citronella candles in the square tins with the wooden wicks-- unlike the citronella candles that come in little metal buckets, they don't hold up well to a breeze, they get blown out easily. Every time since Cliff first used them I mean to point this out. A year or 2 ago I bought a few for my always breezy front porch and couldn't get much use from them. They're great when it is calm though.
What a coincidence we are putting out videos from Promised Land at the same time and we both camped in the same area lol, really looking forward to seeing your video on Bruce Lake!
Tks Cliff i think i Missed this video tks for sending it This is Outstanding 100% Brian watching 2/April, 23 nearly dark here 20.45pm had few beers fdy with Texans Gt.
I love Promised Land State Park. If anyone on here is planning to go visit, make sure you stop at the Mountain House Tavern on PA 380, a few min away from the entrance to the State Park. Great food and drinks, you can even bring your dog!
Thanks so much for that. Lovely camping spot. Love the sounds of your insects, I would easily fall to sleep with them. I’ve acting been laying in bed ready to get up and someone starts mowing and I fall back to sleep. Love your lanterns looked lovely. Great video all round thanks Cliff. Thanks for taking me along. Please stay safe and take care
My parents used to take us to ElkNeck state park. It was a nice park some of these new campgrounds they only think about how many campers they can pack in. As you stated I like some trees between you n your neighbors. I wanna get into tent camping more
Was wondering how that one sandwich would have been enough food for you. Do you ever pack any carrot sticks or pieces of fruit?? Nice Camp setup and a beautiful Park. It's amazing that it is so empty during the high vacation season. Hopefully you're showing how beautiful these places are will increase the visitor numbers. Thanks for taking me along
Come the middle of November we will be staying at our campsite for 2 weeks. That's our assigned hunting season this year. We have a camper it's going to be nice to get away just my husband and I. Our friends that usually hunt with us won't be hunting. They might show up to visit. We bought a Disco to cook on looking forward to that 😁🥰
Long long time friends of my mom's used to hunt in the Poconos. For years. Never quite knew where they hunted. Mostly Deer I think. He was a long time hunter who gave up the rifle for a camera. Not really sure of the reason, but since they both have passed on, it 'dnice to see a little of the area they might have hunted.
Promised Land State Park has been on our list! Can't wait to check out that State Park! Looks lovely!! Low of 54! NICE SLEEPING WEATHER! Flashlight looks awesome! Keep making memories & adventure on! ~Karen & Shannon WOY
Great sandwich ! We either have our spam fried with a side of dippy eggs, or fried on toast with grape jelly. Like the way we have scrapple with grape jelly.
cicadas is what I call your katydids. Here katydids are grasshoppers. RU-vid has hours if cricket videos. Great for tinnitus.. I know you are far more educated than I am. I keep thinking Naomi is a person. lol your sandwich looked delicious 😋
Since you’re now doing a Bigfoot series I might as well bring think up. At 12:57 thru 13:24 (or so), it sounded like tree knocks. Three to be specific. You later said there was another camper but would they be chopping wood? It looked you had to purchase precut wood so that would be doubtful if that’s the case. What I’m trying to say it was possible Bigfoot may have been doing the knocking. I’m not joking or playing around here. I have many, many friends that have had encounters and now study them.
Watch your sodium on the spam...check the labels on all the Spam products as they lie! The low sodium has more sodium in it than the bacon one. I only buy the bacon one anymore for something quick and besides, it tastes wayyyy better lol...
So Cliff was that #97 of 123 PA state parks you've taken us to? Must be close to that. Spam looked good and yes I like it. What I would have done different was cooked the spam by itself, when done on both sides I would have added the cheese and the bread and heated all again for another minute or so. I probably would have used my knife to scrape the black off the bread. I read that bread toasted to that well done and consumed is not good for you but you seem fine. Flashlight was a winner, I guess the beam was non adjustable. You'll see a thousand bears run across a road B 4 you will ever see one bigfoot, but there is always that one chance in a thousand???!? My way of saying (just my opinion) they don't exist.
I stayed there last month in the Northwoods section.. Gotta tell u ,u have man sized b...s staying out there alone.. My son and I did it on our first night and it was scary as hell
