Camshaft install and crank flange timing for 6.4 (and 6.0) powerstroke 

As an observation and if it can help someone ,its worth noting that the re installation of the crank flange has to be the same way it came off , if it has no dowel pin to align it to the crank the installation as per DTR is the small hole in the crank flange has to be 180 away from the dowel that hold crank gear on. On your Video its pretty clear that there is a discoloration left by the crank gear flange is at 45deg to the left of the crank gear or between 10 -11 (10:30)oclock . you also re installed it in the correct position.

I just got a engine from a rebuild shop/Machine shop and I just figured out they didn't time the engine I figured out when installing the rocker.arms on cylinder #3 & #8 Intake when either of them is at cam lift the dowel is at 5pm on the crank pulley im not happy.

I did everything just like u said but I’m getting a slight vibration at 1800-2000 rpm or just off idle ??? Not sure if it’s a injector causing it or I didn’t get that hub on right I got bulged a lot hope I didn’t miss something

What did you use to pull off the crank flange?

What tool did you use to remove the crank flange? And did you need to heat it before removing?

What part number are the crank flange bolts and where can I get em? Ford dealership is a no know

QUESTION CAN I REMOVE THE CAM WITH OUT LOOSENING OR LIFTING THE CRANK.

Hey I have 6.4, rebuilt the engine. Have a hard vibration on the truck now. Almost certain it is coming from the Crank flange, i have taken them apart more than 5 times and aligned all the parts including the flywheel and put everything back together right and still same vibration. Any advice? I would appreciate it, Thanks man!

Just found your video. Is it possible to be 180 out? I think when I rebuilt my engine I put the big hole on the cam gear towards cam timing mark. Truck starts but I have a shake and think I installed the crank flange wrong.

would welding the camgear throw the camshaft out of balance?

Don't mean to split hairs but 130 dollar timing tool not worth it but 170 dollar crank seal installer is a good buy? 🤔
