Great video only thing I would suggest is telling everyone which is bank one which is supposed to be passenger side and to is the driver side hope this helps someone

Bank one should be driver side but theirs an intake and an exhaust from what I'm finding out I'm guessing the ones that are sticking in through the front of the head or the intake ones

Is it me, or did they say they was gonna do the passenger side too, but didn’t.. 🤨🤨. Aren’t you suppose to replace both at the same time? I mean that’s what a ford dealership service department told me 🤷🏾‍♂️

He clearly said in the first 45 seconds the video that they were changing the driver's side only. However, I was thinking the exact same thing you wrote at the end of the video and then read your comment while rewinding to listen to the beginning of the video again.

Just because the code is coming back as the sensor it’s not necessarily the sensor in fact most cases the timing is out of place and changing the sensors is only making your check engine light turn off and the rattle, stalling, poor idle, and loss of power during acceleration quickly resumes. I have an 06 F150 5.4 3v 4x4 and I spent the $50 on the sensors did the swap and less than 3 cranks and 5 miles the same issue and the actual diagnosis is timing assembly is wacky, cam rollover follower in Cylinder 7 is either loose or broke off and wiggling around under the valve cover. There is a cam phaser lock out kit for this issue in the case that the timing assembly isn’t destroyed enough for a complete replacement but in my case Now it’s a $2000 DIY job or a little over $4000 shop job. This motor is dookie.

It's literally a good motor but for some reason the 3valves when timing fails it crushes the valves when the cam phasers wear out. I had to get a new engine. A part of me regrets it but the way I see it, anything built in an American factory in this age of corporate greed is sub par garbage so it's like take your pick of low quality dog shit. Japanese trucks are just too expensive for me. They are better. I'm a patriot but I can't stand when I see that "buy American" shit anymore. Fucking make it good then don't just guilt me into it.

My 2008 F150 engine light came on and was running rough. Was getting "P0345 camshaft position sensor A circuit bank 2" code. Tried changing the sensor before taking it to a shop for a , most likely, far more costly repair. Got the new OEM sensor ($26) . Followed this video. Installed it in about 15 minutes. Running like a top so far. No more engine light. Thanks guys.

This will only work on some 07s and it will not work on a 08 5.4 3v…ford changed the size of the hole that the solenoid goes into at some point in 2007…it will work for some 07s that were made early on in the year but nothing newer…I own a 2008 with the 5.4 3v and I have to remove the whole cable cover to get it done, great video…they were just unaware of the change made in 2007, hope this saves you 08 guys some time

Thanks for the tutorial. Changed both of mine on a 2005 Ford F150. the first one (passenger side) was a little difficult. Both the electrical connect and the sensor were a little tough to remove. I found that twisting the sensor a little and working a small enough gap between the sensor and the cylinder head allowed me to gently work a small blade screwdriver between the sensor and the cylinder head. Slowly working both sides I was able to free the sensor from its mount. On the drivers side, I left the electrical connect on, removed the bolt and that afforded me a little more real estate to grip onto to remove the sensor. I applied a small amount of lithium grease to the o rings before inserting the new sensor. Overall took about an hour. Noticed that when I started the truck it took a few more revolutions to start than normal and the engine idle was high for about 20 seconds then the idle went back to normal.

I get code p0345 and code p0198 i replace both cam senor and the oil sensor both codes come back after clearing them truck does a jerk or buck when driving and idle little rough 5.4 motor

P.S. On a more serious note....My 2005 Ford F150 with a 5.4 threw a 126 ? Code showing something too do with intake left or right bank problem. Sorry,I can't remember the code,but it was the camshaft sensor. I changed the oil,the light went off. The viscosity of the oil caused it too throw the code related to camshaft sensor problem. The truck calls for 5w 20. I run 10 w 30 now. It stopped throwing code. Change every 3 months regurdless of miles,it works for me.

That is true for my GM, but not for my Ford F150. Drivers side are numbered 5,6,7,8 and passengers side are numbered 1,2,3,4, front to back.

On my 2007 F-150, the severely rusted bolt holding the sensor on was removed by first wire brushing with a Dremel. Then, I pounded a 7 mm socket onto the bolt mounted on a breaker bar to keep it true. Grateful for the video. Truck runs great.

I replace the sensors on my 2004 but still running rough when I disconnect the harness it runs fine I been running it with the harness off and seem to be ok any ideas of what should I do?

I’ve changed my sensor multiple times and it temporarily solves the engine light issue. But when I go to start it some time later the light and code come back ?

so every time I hook up my truck to the diagnostics it tells me that it’s the intake position sensor and the camshaft position sensor so I don’t know if it’s the same sensor or two different sensors someone help me here i’m lost

Yeah listen to the other guy in the comments cause I learned the hard way. This WILL NOT WORK FOR LATE MODEL 07-08. I have a 07 and my hole on the valve cover is much much smaller. You gotta remove the whole damn valve cover. Oil dipstick. A couple brackets and such

I just replaced mine and you have to be careful because it might not come out to easy, I know because after I unbolted it I wobbled it tried to turn it and it wouldn't budge. I tried to get a screwdriver behind it and it snapped off. I finally was able to fish it out after a lot of swear words, but there is corrosion on the outside of the "O" ring. I tried to put the new one in, and it didn't want to go in, so I took my flathead screwdriver and cleaned the corrosion out and it went in finally.

Idk if it's bad, but I didn't have a torque wrench, so I just tightened the bolt as tight as I could with a ratchet. Seems to be doing fine.

Google would be a great resource for what side of the engine is Bank one and Bank two. Also the owners manual would be a good please to check as well.

I have similar challenge but in a Toyota Camry 1999 with a confirmed P0340 and a pending P0116, P0773. The symptoms the customer told me were: engine stalling while on motion and during that time the car is very hard to start because the engine is hot but when the waited for an hour the car car started. What I noticed was that the car revv high intermittently on it's own but will return to normal idle again about 5 second again, and the exhaust tailpipe was really darkened when I put my hand. Plugs, fuel pump and a relay( the don't know where the relay was removed though) was replaced by another engineer but the problem still persist. Please how do I fix this problem? Will replacement of part like camshaft position sensor fix this problem?

Hi Snuff! Bank 1 is the side of the engine with cylinder #1 which should be on the passenger side, so driver's side is bank #2 www.f150hub.com/maintenance/cylinder-map.html

@@chrisky502 i replaced both this and crank sensor and then unplugged both TPS sensors lost a little power but then all my problems went away besides changing a few plugs along the way. A lot of the issues can be traced back to TPS sensors. You can unplug them and vehicle will run fine just little loss of power but there a cause of a lot of the issues.

Could you please help me determine what would cause P0340 and P0344 Camshaft position sensor code to continue coming on after replacement of camp chef position sensor. With good ECM or PCM computer module.Codes can be cleared but they come right back

I have watched several videos, A1 auto has sore very in-depth information. Timing chain has been replaced, somebody has told me that the phasers are in good shape, but I have heard so many bad things from bad mechanics I don’t know what to think anymore. The only thing that I have not checked myself which I would’ve hoped that the dealerships would have is the harness going from the position camshaft sensor to the PCM

Wondering if I'll have to pull the valve covers off my 2007 f150. I've replaced the valve positioning sensors last week. The motor still does rough idle at times. But it seems to have helped. I've been researching all around today. It's just such a big job to pull those covers off.

@michaelbidwell4210 I finally booked it into an autoshop. I bet the chain guards are broken into pieces, and clogging up the oil intake, There's some really good RU-vid content out there on fixing cam phasers. I haven't driven it over a year now. But I'm going to need it this winter.

I was working on a Nissan Frontier last month and had to change the camshaft position sensor. I found the oil to be so low that it didn’t show on the dip stick. Today, I have one to change for an F150, and same thing. Oil didn’t reach the dipstick. I wonder if it is related. Maybe an overheating issue due to lack of oil.

I'm concerned about that myself. I traded for a 2006 f150 and the guy I got it from said cam phasers were going out and to drive it with overdrive off. For whatever reason that helps. I checked the oil a couple of times within the 1st week with no change in the level. The oil didn't look great so I was going change. My business got really busy and a week goes by without checking the level. When I did check it there wasn't a drop on the dipstick. Changed the oil and in about 2 weeks the same thing no oil

These motors, when old, burn a lot of oil. My 04 with 199k burns a quart a month. If the oil levels and quality were not maintained properly, the sensors can go bad. Continuously checked Low oil level is not due to cam or timing belt issues; these motors, when old, just burn through oil quickly. Keep the pig fed!
