To be fair, he's right. Calling a game that doesn't involve a ball and is mostly not played with feet "football" is already pretty dumb in and of itself, and it's even worse because there also is a game that goes by the same name that actually involves a ball and is played with feet. And then Americans have ruined it for everyone because they get confused when you talk about football.
As an American, he's spitting facts. Personally, I refer to our sport as American football, and futbol (trying to emphasize the vowels) for our soccer.
@@wombat4191if you and every European who spouts this trash would take 3 seconds to google “where did the word ‘soccer’ originate” you would find that it’s not an American invention. The term was invented by the British. Absolute horseshit that we adopt a term that euros made up, then they turn around and act like we’re crazy. As for the handegg thing, that’s also your fault. American football is named as such because it’s a derivative of rugby football. Stop blaming us for your own shit
19:17 His prediction was 100 true. Jury did just shove Loreen so many points, she basically couldn't loose. Finnland won the public vote by a landslide, but because Loreen won the Jury by an even larger landslide, she came out on top anyway.
The current record is 48 ATs and 5 gold by Spammie. Lars got really close to beating it that same day, with 47 ATs. I was playing the run with Lars and even Wirt joined in halfway through. It is such a fun format
@@SebastianWitt his objective was to beat the record holder so imo if the record holder has the last medal they as a group didn't beat him, either they lost or it's a tie
13:07 Someone should make a troll map named "Don't trust the arrows" and make it like a Mario Maker troll level. The Wirtual despair would be glorious!
I've been a Trackmania enjoyer for quite some time now an year or so, but I finally decided to play it after watching almost all of your videos .. damn, this is for sure the most frustrating game ever. Just kept getting worse and worse, time for a break and try again tomorrow :D
Wait until Wirtual hears about the Uberman sleep schedule. He'll literally be speedrunning sleep. For those who dont want to google it, it's a sleep schedule which capitolises on the REM phase of sleep, which is regarded as the only important part of sleep. Most poeple get around 2 hours per night. So you condition you brain into immediatley begining REM sleep when you shut your eyes for 30 minutes 4 times, spread evenly throughout the day. It sounds great, but most things do not accomodate for this lifestyle. lus there is a warm-up period which is basically days without sleep.
Actually the confusion between football and soccer originates from the UK. People called it soccer to differentiate it from rugby which was also considered football at the time, then Americans just kept it
It's easy to find but for people that don't know. The hamburger was named after Hamburg, Germany obviously. This however is not the same as the hamburger today that was made at around the same time period in the US but just also took the name of the hamburger from Germany. So It's named after Germany but the creation itself is from the US, the German Hamburger is a bit different.
It was named after Hamburg, but was invented in Frankfurt. To show appreciation Hamburg named the their ‘wurst’ after Frankfurt as the Frankfurter wurst
I just want to say that soccer is a british term not american. The brits were calling soccer when the sport came to the US and then they switched to calling it football to match the latin root countries, but by then the us had invented American Football and couldn't follow suite
Maybe i've overheard it, but is this another version? Of the official one? I recently saw 2 vids of Wirtual where he played that mode, but you get 15 minutes +3 minutes for every author medal. Either way, really entertaining. Would be nice to see the same on the WR seed.
I see one problem with this RMC format : if ppl can watch WRs. If that's deactivated, then it's fine, but if not... it gives a massive advantage compared to solo RMC (I mean, more than what 100v1 already gives obv).
just played the game last week. so much new thing with dirt, grass, ice, plastic ... i not getting the old feeling old this game. Also my friends completly not into any car racing game :( So i play alone, and try to figure out how drifting works again xD Started playing with Track Mania ESWC and later with Nation Forever and United Forever. Miss the good old days :'( But also its for me pure comedy to watch your Videos :)
I thought this challenge was going to be 100 people doing separate runs to beat the record, when I saw the actual gimmick I thought it would be way less interesting. I guess since you only beat it by 1, it actually was a hard record to beat.
26:44 A "British" university students in the late 19th century nicknamed it “soccer”, a twist on the second syllable of “association”. This nickname spread from this university's to a wide spread area. Though England diched the word a while ago, America was the one who stuck with. Just some information I found out.
Hey wirtual you should make a video for console players showing them what you think are good maps for them to learn as you said the nadeo training was trash and their is so many campaigns it may confuse and throw players off who are not use to it.
26:45 but the brits created the term soccer not the americans, the brits just decided in the 1980s that because the americans were starting to use it it wasnt cool anymore Giving that the brits created the game and the word soccer then it just became an alternative way of saying football. No amount of hate towards the americans will change that
actually the British came up with "Soccer" as short for Association Football- instead of having six different sports called Football. it wasn't until America adopted the new term that the rest of the world decided to switch back to Football
No, everyone else kept calling it football in their own language. The term "soccer" doesn't exist in other languages. That's why the British decided that calling it "soccer" is actually a bad idea. U.K. basically pulled up a prank on the rest of the English speaking world and its affects are noticable even today.
I'm in australia and i blame america for the fact that every single one of the people in my friend group except me calls football soccer. It hurts me every time ):
Like what would footy be called then? We already have union, league, touch, oztag, league tag, afl, which all use pretty much the same ball, and then you have soccer and footsol, which have different balls than those others. It's kinda like the first lot are all a kind of football. Imo.
The term “soccer” actually came from Britain and Americans use it to differentiate from American “football.” As the World Cup continues in Qatar, people around the world are disputing whether the sport should be called “football” or “soccer” in the United States.
