I am actually surprised with the quality of this laptop. I thought it would be the junkiest thing in the world, but after you got the software setup, I was astonished 😅
@@blacaurax3799I mean windows 10 and above is just painfully slow on this type of hardware like mine but I installed windows 8.1 and you can use 8.1 or below to get amazing performance on this hardware. My laptop is the HP notebook 14-cm0508sa and it has 4gb ram 2gigerhertz processor and a 1080p 60hz display, it’s pretty much the same and it has amazing performance on windows 8.1 or 7 because there is barely any processes

fun fact: 1.17 brought a huge OpenGL update and due to a driver quirk on its OpenGL Windows driver, 2nd gen Intel iGPUs will actually give nonsupported errors on 1.17+ if you decided to go with Windows. Great job for going with Linux, you did actually get the most maintained driver thus 1.17+ runs fine!

@@berkantari981 Very much so! He did a video with another $1 laptop a while ago and the Windows drivers only worked on Windows 7 with 1.16 or older .. With Linux he managed to not only run 1.20 but he also managed to get the same performance the laptop he used in that other video had (which was significantly more powerful than this one from what i remember)
@@blacaurax3799 Linux only increases performance by like 20% on games, its more focused on os optimisation. Also ubuntu is just as heavy as windows so it doesnt make a difference.
The funniest thing is, that this laptop get's more FPS in Minecraft, that the one i'm watching the video with. I don't know if I should be dissapointed, or something similar. lol
@@XD-qh4einope my intel atom pc can get 25 fps on windows 7 but ubuntu will lag at the desktop and linux is a pain to game just put tiny 10 or windows 7
Proving again and again that linux runs on everything! The problem with Windows is probably, that it can't find some driver or it finds it, but it's not for the hardware of the laptop, so for the example the GPU just crashes when it tries to initialize.
my old laptop was worse than this one, and somehow I managed to play over 200 hours of Fallout NV on it when I bought my gaming PC I destroyed it and threw it away The game would go lower than 10 fps in most areas, and around 23-25 on the good parts. To travel I needed to look to the ground, so the fps would go up. My build was fully focused on V.A.T.S., cuz otherwise, I couldn't hit anything It was a nightmare, but it still is one of my favorite games. (The laptop was also HP)
I can top that, my current notebook is literately rescued from the recycling bin, a Thinkpad L470, it sports an i5 7200U, 16 GByte of RAM, a 250 GB SSD and runs Debian.
My MacBook Air 2020 is actually slightly better than this 1$ laptop as it has a i5 and a Retina display along with a decent working battery. But dayum that sure was worth the buy :0
When I had trading event in school someone dumbass brought his broken pc and sold it for 20 cents to my friends. It never booted up so they got scammed
The reason it performs good is because it uses Linux otherwise we would likely not see this laptop working smoothly in a windows os unless we are talking about windows 8.1 and 7 then it will work alr.
0:30 sounds like my old dell laptop, after my mom didn't want it anymore she gave it to me and here is the thing, the laptop would have been better off with a slice of toast for a battery because as soon as you took it off the charger it automatically died, even at 100 percent battery. so basically it was a desktop laptop.
The sad part is that this laptop is somehow better than old.laptop I used to use which was a Lenovo laptop.made for a work environment that got a max of 15 fps vanilla MC 1.8.9 and the $1 got 22 0_0
install debian, i run it on a 2012 macbook air and on minecraft 1.20.4, with sodium, i can get those levels if not better, your laptop would blow it out of the water
