4:05 That's exactly how I would greet Jimmy whenever I see him. Rebel Tree has taste. And before I go: THICC BRIT pummels fruity Kiwi round the Ring, barely breaking into a sweat. Wonder how much they charge for that?
JIMMER!!! This week on GT 7 there's a Really great Online Race @Nordschleife. It's a 6 Lap GT3 Race with changeable conditions. as much as i know the weather even varies from race to race. but im not 100% sure on that, I had just 1 Race yet.
I though the editing sequence right before the hotlap was really well done, but man, these rotating transitions in the last couple vids are absolutely killing me. I'm not even the type to get motion sickness but they are absolutely scrambling my brain.
*Does a lap in a Mclaren liveried car...while wearing a Mercedes Shirt* Mans casually starting wars out here. Anyhow, insane. Kinda nutty that even though this is the heaviest generation of F1 car in history, it still is as grippy and quick as it is (and its not even the QUICKEST generation of F1 cars in history, which themselves are just on another level).
8:21 Holy cow, the brakes, man. I have to brake right at the end of the curb on the left in both LMP cars and older (90's and later) Formula 1 cars to make that corner
Fun lap to watch 😎 Over in Forza Motorsport I’ve been hotlapping in the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro. It’s a real workout at these speeds but I managed to get it down to a 4:56. The world record is something like 10 seconds faster and my brain can’t comprehend the pace 🫨 Shame there’s no modern F1 car in that game for me to compare though, we know Forza’s physics are a little on the forgiving side which shows in the laptimes.
would be interesting to see how the current F1 cars in sim racing games would compare to each other. iRacing has the W13, RF2 has this, AC most likely has an F1 car mod, I would just love to know the difference on both pace and how the cars would feel too.
You know what would be cool is if the top 3 drivers in the F1 standing every year did a staggered start time trail race around the Nürburgring so there was a solid distance between them and they could all just compete for fastest lap time. Not sure how exciting it would be but that's my idea to spice things up.
There's no chance that would even remotely work, they're heavier, have less aero, less power and less stick tyres. If you're lucky you may get within 30s of an F1 car. But it would without a doubt be miles more enjoyable - maybe jimmy should go take the iracing version around it at some point
@@noahgray5229 the dw12 is 50kg lighter than a 2024 f1 car, oval rear downforce would mean you would potentially be hitting 240kph down the dottingehoe, the main place the indycar would lose out realisitically would be the back twistys after the karousell, idk it was just a curiosity not a serious thought
@@sophiaemily1819 the dw12 is not a current indycar, it's actually gotten much heavier over its life and this summer with their hybrid. I'm sure jimmy drove an older version of the ir18 here at some point, that would be faster than they are today I'm sure, check that out. Second, you do not remotely understand how car setup and aero work. You cannot run a single plane oval - and just saying, you mean indianapolis oval rear wing with oval, not the oval wings they run for every other oval, which is similar to roadcourse wings, just asymetrical - that will not work. The indycar with oval wings is capable of 390kph+ speeds, and it may get well over 350 on the long backstraight, but it would be impossible to get around the rest of the track. The low indy wings generate virtually nothing, it's the diffuser that does most of the work, the front and rear wing at the indy oval are mostly for balancing, not generating significant downforce. Putting a high DF front wing on the car changes nothing except making it impossible to drive, you put as much front wing on as the rear can take, any more makes it harder to drive and costs you topspeed. The reality is, the obly place where a modern indycar is faster than a modern F1 car is topspeed, and that is with a setup they only run once a year at the indy500. Maybe they're more agile and quicker in slow hairpins and chicanes, think monza T1, but that's just the shorter wheelbase helping out. Not trying to be rude but there is no world or track beside long ovals like indianapolis where an indycar can even remotely compete with F1. Consider this, an F1 car, with potentially twice as much downforce as an indycar still reaches higher topspeeds, slows down faster than it, accelerates faster than it - and obviously carries miles more speed through every turn. I just checked jimmy's history, checknout his indycar lap here, it's from 6 years ago, then come back to this or watch him lap it in the W12 a while ago. It's a huge huge difference
Yeah, you didn't even get half way through your sentence before concluding it would be slower. And it would be. The vid wasn't about fun. It was about lap time. Night and day between these two formulas...
Who tf is unfamiliar with the Green Hell? Well, the ones who still aren't subscribed to Jimmy's channel. I mean, what the hell is blocking you from subscribing to this amazing channel and get to the Nürburgring religion?
The safety reason is a stupid misconception. The 919evo is faster than every F1 car save a few. So safety isn’t the hold up, it’s the desire and marketing around it. We all know F1 cars are ballistic and it’s assumed that they’ll be faster than everything around a track, so there’s little money to be made in a glory run.
This just shows how insane the 919 record is ... a 5.13 in a sim, with no repercussions for an error - in the latest F1 car. The 919 record is 6 years old now... imagine if Porsche wanted to have another go
I managed 5 mins 25 in the 2004 ferrari which comes with AC. I wanted to beat the record with it but i need to adjust the setup a bit and find the sweet spot of downforce vs drag. I did that with a manual sequential setup i think, i wasnt using the paddles.
Hey jimmy idk if you had any problems with the moza r5 before but I keep having problems with the wheel base shutting down after it experiences a heavy load. Like hitting a sausage curb in AC. FFB was 70% in pithouse and 40% in AC. Idk if it’s my rig or not but when I sent it back they said it was fine. BUT it looks like they didn’t open the package 😂
can you lap the nordshleife with the Williams FW15C equipped with a CVT? there's a mod that exists but idk how goos it is. would be VERY interesting tho.
I don't think a Modern ground effect car irl would be the 919 Evo tbh. Combined with its drag and how weak these cars are with bumps it would be a close battle but i still expect the Porsche to come out ahead. I still wish to be proven wrong tho, would love to see a modern F1 car go at it at the Nords
It is a shame the current F1 car is so slow around the Nordschleife. I presume it could be pushed quite a bit further (when you look at its real-world Spa potential of around 1:40.000). In any case, beating 5:19.546 is completely feasible with many F1 cars in history (even when slowing down where needed). Some can even do that without shifting at all throughout the lap.
In order for someone to do it irl you’d need a Travis Pastrana type of person who had a career in F1. And as calculated as F1 drivers tend to be I’m not sure if someone like that exists.
The most likely reason is that F1 cars are not allowed by the regulations to run outside of specified times allowed in the regulations. This is because any time the car runs it'd allow the teams to gather testing data and giving them an unfair advantage
Actually wanna see an f1 driver driver do this at least with this mod on AC - because its the closest were ever going to get. Isnt there a sim racing dude that part times as an f1 champ on the weekends?
