Can A Cheap NITRO RC Car be any GOOD??? 

This channel is making me spend more money on RC cars than I do on my actual car.

One thing that nitro has over electric is the sound of the gear change sounds brilliant!

Waited 8 weeks. Turned up started easily. Run it in for 5 tanks. All I've done is lean off the high speed needle gradually ( still running rich). Trimmed the front of the bodyshell. Really pleased with it, don't mess with the settings too much and Enjoy.

I know this platform all too well. I’m really happy to see you’ve gotten the pivot ball suspension version, those are quite durable. Weak points are: shock towers, engine mounting points on the chassis and the drive cups (very weak steel, they get worn out by the dogbones over time). Other than that pretty good value for money and, with a faster servo and a tuned pipe+header, decent performance too.

About HSP, in my experience with HSP Nitro cars (I've bought roughly 5-6 sadly) every one I have purchased has had problems right away out of the box, I rember one of these having a vx16 motor which for some reason the factory decided that it was okay to not put a piston in the motor. I tried their customer support but they couldn't help me because I didn't buy it directly from them. All the other cars had their own problems and issues which prevented me from having them run at all (the most I had one running was for about 15 seconds before it blew a hole in the side of the block) SO IN MY PERSONAL OPINION I HIGHLY WARN ANYONE WHO IS CONSIDERING BUYING A NEW HSP But maybe I'm just unlucky, Again kev great video, I enjoyed watching someone finally getting a HSP Nitro car running Cheers (by the way the HSP brushed and brushless vehicles are actually very good quality.)

If you want a durable and big nitro rc car you should buy the traxxas revo 3.3 If got the same and i think its the best nitro car on the world. And you can youse your e revo parts to fix it. i think that would be perfekt for u😉🤙🏻

I bought a cheap nitro RC truck for my son for Christmas. It was an Exceed Infinitive 4wd truck. 5 tanks of gas in, he has a very nice 200 dollar paperweight with no transmission anymore. Been sitting since January. Sometimes you get what you pay for.

I have the exact same one but I have the buggy-94166 version.. It is identical to yours and I GUARANTEE that you will bend the front shock tower so might as well order it now. And hsp tuned pipe kit really wakes that motor up.

Years ago I converted a Thundertiger TS-4N into a rally car. All went well but I did discover the reason you don't use belt drive for off road.

Bought one took 8 weeks to arrive but started easily runs well. If you don't mind the wait I'm pretty happy.

I have the same one but released under the Redcat name. The Lightning STR and mine came with a silver headed engine, purple accents. I have replaced all the shock towers with carbon fiber and the other parts with the purple aluminum. Its a big heavy formerly cheap RC. It looks nice. its on my channel. I liked taking a cheap RC and pimping it out.

I got a couple cheap engines. I took them apart and rtv seal the carb and pull start and the engines ran perfect for years.

Upgrading them horribly restrictive manifolds opens up loads more power 💥

Wow... I´m impressed how good it´s setup out of the box. I also like it´s offroad-ish design. But to be hones....i´d rather get one of the old tamiya nitros for that money. The build quality is just amazing and spare- or tuning parts are readily available.

I've had a couple of these cheap nitro cars. I was mainly an Ofna guy. (that's Hoboa). That's how long I've been running nitro. Be lucky if you get 2 months out of that engine. You'd be well advised to get a name brand nitro. The way you run cars Kevin I'll bet you don't get a month.

Should I or shouldn't I? Is it safe to assume a Nitro car like this doesn't have reverse? I'm just getting back into RC cars after decades away from it and didn't even know a ton about gas powered back then, except that the "fancy ones" that had the 2 forward speeds did not have a reverse gear. Probably still the case despite how much RC car technology has changed over the past 25 years. I've got a couple of electric cars, one road/drift car and a latrax prerunner. I want a pretty bad ass little rally car that ideally could spank the average battery road car on tarmac, but that can also take some jumps. Not Kevin style moon shots... I imagine those require monster truck suspensions and tires to have a prayer of getting more than one or two tries before carnage occurs. Anyway, do "gas" powered cars still outrun modern high performance electric equivalents? I believe one advantage of Nitro is longer runtime. Modern gas powered rc cars sure look to me like they're incredibly quick and pretty fast as well. Gas powered cars 30 years ago were little missiles and had 2 speed transmissions even then and seemed like they turned to a blur on the up shift. I'm sure gas powered cars have only gotten better over the last few decades, so I can't imagine what this little thing can do would fail to produce an internal "wow" unless my recollection of how quick and fast they were is overblown. There's definitely been way more improvement in electric motor, leave alone battery technology than in internal combustion engine tech that might have benefited model engines, but I'm sure current model engines, along with pretty much everything else that goes in and on an rc car has gotten better since the 1980's. I just can't wrap my mind around what 3 decades of improvement over "Holy F**k, it's like a two stage rocket." might look like. 😉😁👍

I’ve been doing Natural for 15 years and those cheap RC cars look really good it looks like they have come along way I think maybe I might want to get one aside from my other cars I don’t know about the rally car or the other one I don’t know which is more what I want right now I already have a nitro 4 tech

Kev there is a roll cage out there made by Destined4Dirt and its really light and I think if you put it on the slash 4x4 it would get rid of the powershooting effect.

Should never put fuel in while running or with a hot engine as the fuel also heats up from the exhaust pressure to the tank and the fuel in your bottle will be colder and can course damage to the engine dont know what it would be like in the long run but surely it will shorten the life of the engine
