Nitro can be a pain in the ass for a newbie, but once you get used to being able to tune it right is when the real fun starts. Yes they are loud, but we all were amazed by nitros and/or 2 stroke RCs when we first seen them.

My t maxx been in hiding for a few years too. Bloody nitro are great , the smell, the burnt lips from nitro inhalation. Yeah, I gotta have a go of my stinker, it’s been a while. Been fudging with nitros on and off for almost 20 years. I still have the original tmaxx. I have 10 vehicles in various states of operation but I'm about to get my first electric truck. Lipo batteries have opened up a whole new world and my kids don't have skills yet to play with my nitros when I'm not around

Hey kev, just a tip dont tune to temp because a lean lsn and rich hsn will have good temp while not haveing suffiscient lube.tune your high speed untill you have clean sound.

15-20 years ago I did a 20ft dirtbike ramp with my Hyper7 at a Monster Jam half time show. The crowd loved it. Landed it too. I still love how obnoxious Nitro is.

Awesome episode! The trick is, you have to have a good nitro car to really enjoy nitro. Its special in his own way, its a working combustion engine.

Stemp needs to put some time into wrenching on that thing. Cool to see you firing up a nitro rig. Get that 2nd gear shift point to hold on a bit longer and you will really put a hurt on it! I need to spend some time with my SavageX to figure out my horrible tuning issues...

Funny you did this today... I found a Traxxas Revo 3.3 at a yard sale a couple houses up from me this morning. Guy said he hasn't used it in a couple years but everything was there. Got it for only $40!!! Piston was seized up but after breaking everything down I was able to free it up and get the truck running today. First time I'm messed with a nitro rc in many years... probably since my original Tmaxx. It was actually quite fun though I still hate the thought of buying nitro fuel for it all the time. Not sure if I'll keep this Revo or try to sell, we'll give it another tank or 2 before making a decision though.

Haha that little NB16 is so much fun I have a 1:16 nitro as well. The engine is a absolute hell to get it properly tuned but when you get it right its a lot of fun! Getting myself a 1:8 scale nitro truggy soon. And might even buying me something brushless. Not sure what i want to get.

Nice vid...good to see the nitros out. Lot of the difficulty with nitros comes from the tuning. Tune was a bit off in vid but had them running which is the main thing. Great fun.

fyi for anyone having trouble with tuning Nitro: 1st tune HSN once engine is up to temps, leave LSN and idle at default. Highest rpms should be smooth, no hiccup, if there's stuttering then you slowly richen and test again. 2nd tune LSN - it should have quick response, but it shouldn't hang on high rpms when you come to a stop. If sluggish on take off you lean it out, if rpms stay high way too long after revving you richen. 3rd tune Idle once LSN is set

My 2-stroke VEKTA.5 satisfies my engineering tinkering bug, They are extra work for sure. but is like throwing a handful of 50 dollar notes away if I bash it hard, it's over 20kg. So there is always electric RC in the kit if i really need to air it out, send it ETC.

I have the same HPI Savage but with a Truckzilla kit from Hotbodies, it has 3 speed transmission and reverse with a .46 engine, and it's fockin giant all metal.
