PLEASE! Do this as a Pass It On format! The normals all do a pass it on to come up with a dish on their own. Then Kush and Ben come in (maybe some special guest chef? 👀) come in after to do a pass it on of their own with what's left over from the normals! You could call it "Trash It On" And it would be absolute chaos and I'm so here for it!
I like this idea, especially because they have hinted multiple times (and it's rather obvious after having 20+ extra ingredients warm on table) that the left over ingredients are used to make food for the crew. So... pretty much "b roll" of Kush cooking for the crew?
I love these two together. I feel that Ben really appreciates how good Mike has become from being the least accomplished of the normals and Mike is always blown away by Ebbers cheffy abilities. So great to watch them both 🥰
I was off the ‘net for a while and am trying to get caught up on Sorted. After reading your comment I went looking for the Ben/Barry leftovers challenge and can’t find it. 😩 Any way you could point me towards it? The title of that vid perhaps? I know it’s a big ask. Just hoping 🤞🏻🤞🏻 Cheers!
The two of them have a really good energy when they're together. Even when they're "being mean" to each other, they still get really excited and happy to see each other do well.
Hold on, there's an idea there! Imagine a battle where each side has a normal and a chef, the normals going first and making the main dish for their team. Then, the chefs go second, using the scraps from the opposite team's normal to make appetizers or other things that pair with their normal's main dish.
No no, totally agree, because it left Ebbers with (what we probably perceive as) very little to work with - and yet, his dish seemed very thought through
Mike looked so gleeful when sharing what he thought were the worst scraps possible, but Ben really turned them into something beautiful looking and tasting. It's really a testament to Mike's cooking that he was able to make a really fancy dish with such little wastage. He did a great job! I did laugh at 13:19 cuz Mike knows us so well, it's not that we don't care about it, it's just exciting to see what the scraps turned into. Also, it's normally Mike who's really hard on himself, but so is Ben. Mike was praising that omelette to high heaven and Ben just went it's fine, the color's too dark for an omelette.🥺 He served up really delicious dishes out of some very difficult scraps. Ben you did so good!
Honestly, the omelette (if we forget that it was cold by the time they ate it) looked absolutely fantastic. Sure, it had color, but good luck making your paprika-colored butter turn out a bright yellow omelette. The color was flavor!
I’m so happy to see a new instalment of the Scraps challenge because I laughed so much when Barry and Ben were competing. Now we have Ebbersnado vs Huttlestorm and I’m ready with hypothetical popcorn, the best flavour of popcorn 🍿 Happy Wednesday!
I'm a big fan of the "there are no scraps and leftovers" philosophy, but what Ben is doing here is really impressive. I try to think along with this kind of challenge, but my homecooking mind always tricks me to come up with just one dish for all the scraps. Ben's way of splitting them up makes them at the same time more awesome and simpler. Great way to look at food.
Yeah. Barry basically drowned Ebbers in scraps (and it feels almost wrong to describe a lot of it as such) while Mike went for the minimalist approach. I'm really curious to see Jamie in this format - will Ebbers have to work with a pile of meat trimmings and barely anything else?
@@annaqtjoeyJamie is very boring and so unoriginal!! I much prefer Mike, at least he's willing to try a multitude of different things as opposed to just meat, meat, and more meat like Jaime. Jaime = BORING Mike = Creative
I think this shows how far Mike has come as a cook. He consistently underrates himself but he’s bloody brilliant… Barry must be kicking himself though because Mikes dish actually looked good
Please do more of these. It reminds me of the first time I saw sortedfood, which was on Good Mythical Morning when they had to make a meal with scraps. Love this type of video.
These are my 2nd favorite thing on the channel (10min burger challenge cant be topped im afraid) and I hope to see more of it. How Ben does what he does is astonishing to me. Its a joy to watch, keep up the amazing work guys.
i live in a world where Mike's smile exists and that is a great world. Thank you again for a wonderful video and Ebbers really is a Genius also with a great smile.
i can't express how happy i am that it's Mike's renaissance where he's appreciating his own strengths and shining like a star. you both did a phenomenal job. well done chefs
I have an idea, The Ultimate Full English Battle, each normal take their favorite version of this all time English classic and make it as tasty as possible without any help from the food team! And then you tell Ebber's that he then has to guess who made which dish and then he declares which one did the best! Please do it!!!
@@greenjedi8 Scotland, Wales & Ireland all have their own versions of a breakfast fry up, so we can all be proud of them. The term "full English" just gets used as an umbrella term. Heck even in England there are variations depending on where you live. A London one can be pretty different to say a Yorkshire one.
i love this format!! it doesn't feel as competitive as 'beat the chef,' like it's more homey and collaborative-feeling (despite the ribbing and banter). i just love watching friends hang out and cook next to each other haha. and i feel like mike particularly shines BECAUSE of the lack of competitive element, like he's able to actually relax and not get anxious and enjoy himself, which i love seeing!! ♥
Broccoli stalks are just so delicious when they are peeled. Great for stir-fry or scrambled eggs. So good that Ben had an opportunity to show more chef skills. ❤
I dated a chef once and it was pure joy watching him throw things together somewhat randomly and come out incredible. This is definitely joyful to watch the talent and creativity. Thank you
YAY!! Food Scraps challenge is back! :D I loved the first iteration of this challenge and boy was this one just as interesting and inspiring! I would love an entire series of these challenges! Can't wait to see what you guys will do next!
Ben as usual blew me away with how much he can do with some Scraps and Leftovers like the Milk or the Vodka from the previous episode :D Amazing Job. And Mike once again shows what he is capable off! That Dish was bang on, no Huttlestorm in sight and he managed to perfectly cook Scollops something tons of Chefs working at a Restaurant struggle with from my own experience :P
Ben blew it out of the park with those scraps. Mike had a game plan and almost left no scraps for Ben. This series is amazing and I hope you guys keep doing this maybe give Kush the next challenge.
I would have cooked the omelette last as they are so much nicer fresh out of the pan . Also, if I'd been Mike I would have used those broccoli stalks in his "couscous", as they are quite the best bit!
Would love to see some love for the camera crew, get one in each week to cook their favourite meals to share with the gang or get the normals to recreate them
Two standout jobs; Mike going above and beyond the normal bar, and Ben absolutely nailing some really creative - and yet logical when he explains - dishes.
We always use up the leftover egg from the panée (or panír in my language). We mix in some of the flour until we get a still kind of runny, but somewhat firmed up "dough". Add some salt and scoop tablespoon sized dollops into the hot oil and fry them until they are golden brown. My mother calls them "Clouds" as they float on the oil when frying like donuts and they take all kinds of shapes because of the runny nature of the dough. They are perfect little after work snack for the chef or anyone who wonders into the kitchen but does not allowed to snack on the meat we were originally frying :D
LOVE to see this again!!! only thing this missed was one or both of the other normals on the sidelines giving their usual sass as running commentary, actually feels a little empty without that
Noooooo Michael what are you DOING ???? All the flavour in airdried hams is in the fat!! It's delicious. Also I see no reason to leave off the roes from the scallops. Again a ton of flavour. And just for the record, broccoli stems are sweet and tender..... best part of the vegetable imo.
I love this - so much can be done with some scraps, especially if you know how - I often make soups from broccoli and cauliflower stalks (or even brussel sprout stalks, if you can buy them fresh on the stalk). I would not have thought about scallop butter, but I've done similar with shrimp heads and oil for a finishing drizzle. I'd love to see this done in a dessert format too - so many cakes call for just the whites of eggs, for example - watching Ben using the leftover yolks to do curds or other things would be fun.
In Australia, as you would be aware, we serve scallops with their roe on. If you go to the local chippy you get them deep fried and actually it's my favourite thing to order.
I love scrap challenges! Please do more of those, they are so creative. Also battling food waste is something we all should strife for. Personally I love cooking with scraps and leftovers. And if nothing else helps ... make a good stock from scraps and freeze it.
Both of you did amazing! Mike's dish was like something you'd find at a restaurant. I mean, I've seen Ben make something that looks so much like that! And I couldn't believe that Ben made two little dishes and a drink from the scraps. I am going to try and make that broccoli puree next time I have broccoli. Great job!
Love this format, it's cool to see Ebbers think on the spot. Would be keen to see a similar video but limited to vegan ingredients to see what he can come up with
once again, super impressed with what ben did with the leftovers, and really enjoying this format. both did a great job, but using the richer bits to really enhance the flavor was really cool to see.
I would love to see this being done by just the chef with some random ingredients and halfway thru he has to use his scarps without knowing it at the start!
I’d love to see you guys do a “old school dinner meals” battle with dishes such as doing chocolate concrete with pink custard, cornflake tart, turkey twizzlers with potato smiley faces etc - it would be absolutely amazing if you could. Love you guys ☺️
@@TsukiKatanachocolate concrete is like shortbread but made with cocoa powder, cornflake tart is pastry with a layer of jam and then cornflakes mixed with golden syrup, brown sugar and butter on top, then turkey twizzlers are like turkey breasts that’s breaded and cut into like a spiral shape. Hope that helps ☺️
I love how Mike just goes "Great. Well. No one really cares about that. Let's find out how this tastes." and puts his plate to the side. That was incredibly funny.
Ive never even seen a scallop Irl, so I have no idea what to do differently, if anything. But I would for sure love to eat all the dishes, they looked fantastic
I love the thumbnail. It looks like ebbers is selling food scraps 😀 I would love to see them do more cooking battles with scraps with additional limitations like vegan, specific cuisine etc.
I really enjoyed watching Mike cook an amazing dish, looked delicious. Ben cooking up Mike’s scraps was outstanding, who would have thought you could make a meal from tiny bits of stuff. Loved it. ❤. 🥰🇦🇺
Shows how much flavor there can be in the tiniest of scraps, Always take your videos and advice to hearth, my cooking game has really improved thanks to you guys!
These formats are really cool, sure, I'll never cook with scallop roe, but to get the ideas flowing and having people realise more parts of our food is edible and not ~trash~ is a great thing to do.
I love these videos because of all the awesome tips that Ben provides. As a "Newish" home cook, (you guys helped get my butt into the kitchen) all the tips and tricks fascinate me as well as get me wanting to make said dish. Then I realize my wallet would be mad at me for splurging just to try lol.
I’m allergic to shellfish so I’ve never had scallops, I’ve never wanted to even try them but the ones Mike made looked so good I’d chance eating them lol.
I really like this new series of scraps videos. I have been using your videos to encourage multiple family members to participate in a month's long pantry challenge. It has been a lot of fun using things hiding in the depths of our pantries and turning them into delicious dishes. Thank you!
0:34 Clearly, some of us like having the distinction of getting pardons from the Spanish Government. You’re missing a key diplomat for the Iberian Peninsula.
I love these. I do think it would be fun if you gave Ben, or the chef, one ingredient that they can choose to base the scraps around. Maybe they have 5 minutes to choose said ingredient after the normal starts cooking.
Wonderful that this is being continued! Took Ben's advice to heart from last time and started freezing small portions of fish cakes and other bits to have for future use.
I've often thought this, but holy crap Ebbers is amazing. Mike already used his ingredients to the limit of what is normally reasonable. And Ebbers turned that actual garbage into a stunningly presented tasty dish before Mike had finished his own and while being informative throughout! Bravo sir, bravo.
I should never watch sorted when hungry... but I can't help click on the video when I see it 😢. Everything on that table looked amazing and I'm 100% making those croquettes at some point
I hate wasting food. Cooking for one most of the time, I find it hard to use up things that don't keep long, without having similar dishes for a few days or batch cooking. Veg I'll chop up and freeze as it's on it's way out, so I have ready made mirepoix. This use of the scraps and left overs is a great inspiration of how to change things up a little.
I think this was one of Mike's finest moments - his dish was just outstanding. Well-planned, well-executed. It's always a joy to see Ben display how much quality food you can extract from scraps. It appeals to my love for frugal cooking, with as little waste as possible (something Ben and I agree on 100%). I'm going to have to try making the tempura scallop roe, that looks absolutely fantastic.
In my part of Oz the scallop roe is called Coral and usually comes still attached to the shelled scallops. All of the dishes looked good. Can you do a pass it on using only leftovers. It would be fun Thanks guys
not too late for a rebrand... scraps to scran im just saying (at least i think thats an english term? ive only heard it in the context of soccer fans making the most awful food imaginable but still... alliteration)
