From Denmark, Yes, it brings back memories, today I am an old guy of 64 years, I started farming as a 14 year old in 1972 and there we had an almost new Massey Ferguson 165 which had only gone 150 hours. i worked with it for 4 years and it just ran all the time. and we had a Combine Massey ferguson 87 which also just drove all the time, cool machines that we will not see again. Great videos you make, all the time exciting. I also see that the MF 165 only has 47hp, but in several places I see that it is also given up to 59hp. I personally think that the one I drove with was much more powerful than the MF 135 we had and it also had 45hp. So I do not know if the 44hp is given incorrectly, I mean definitely that mf 165 it feels much more powerful. A big greeting from Denmark (a small country in Europe).
I have a 1100 Massey Ferguson and the ID plate is gone, does the 1100 have the year of the tractor stamped on the frame or how can I tell what year it was made.
Interesting that the American setups of the MF165 are very similar to the Norwegian ones. It would be interesting to see the performance (differences?) between 165 4.212 gasoline vs. MF165 4.212 diesel.
there is a solenoid on the bottom of the carb that is supposed to plug the main jet when you kill the power, mine has not worked in years, so it “diesels” a little after I shut it down. usually only when she’s hot.
@@jtsbarnngrill6873 i dont know much about the perkins gas, but my goodness i dont think its possible to burn thru 10gal of fuel in any of our perkins diesels. 175, 165, 65 and 150. Been great tractors! I now pull our NH489 haybine w the 150 mostly, does fine unless u find soft spot in field. all great tractors assuming you took care of any multi power issues etc. Easy to work on also
I think she was telling you that second gear pull in high range was the limit when she popped a couple times on shutting her down. In fact I think that overstressed her to the point of damage. I mean not what the seals and gears were designed for. She is a good tractor and ya'll have been treating her well so far but this was too much. 3rd gear proved it and even second gear high range is too much. Thanks for the excitement but this is a test that might be her undoing with further stress. She is telling you, leave this to the big boys like the 1800 and 1805. And they might be uncomfortable at this speed too.
Well, no harm was done. That tractor has had a run on condition for all the years I’ve had it. I didn’t even have the 1805 it the 1800 when I did this video 😆
Puff! Lol. Don't pull using the multi power its Massey's weak point, dads 40yrs experience with 65 multipower. Multipower are almost 1000$ probably more. Planetary gears is what gives it power, the 165, 65 are workhorses. Dad calls them little jewels. The power steering you can turn it with your little pinky finger. My dad use to tractor pull with his 65 diesel with fluid in the tires and suitcase weights hanging all over it and the green pullers got mad at him because he would out pull everything so they put him up with the big tractors lol
