I have owned two Jaguars for a combined total of 7 years and the only problems I ever had were a dead battery and a damaged finish on the radio knob both of which were replaced without any questions asked under warranty (5 years and free maintenance). I find the Jaguars to be incredibly tight with no squeaks and rattles when it is 10 below zero F and 100 degrees F so build quality is top notch. Engines run smooth and no vibrations at lights or on start-up - well mounted engines and very smooth and quiet except when they accelerate at which time they roar. Very little supercharger whine and almost no turbo lag so the engines are tuned to perfection for real world driving. Handling is as good or better than anything in their class and the Jags just look so much better than any BMWs, Audis and MBs. I used to think the Alfa Romeos looked good but the Jags have classic designs that age much better and nicer interiors. I have owned SAABs, Volvos, Audis, VWs, Toyotas, Jeeps, General Motors and I have to tell you the quality of the Jags is as high or higher than anything else I have ever owned. Jeeps are absolute garbage and SAABs and Volvos and VWs paled in comparison to the driving dynamics and luxury of the Jags. Toyotas shed timing belts and blow up their engines and GM products are just plastic crap. Audis have lots of issues and frankly they don't drive anywhere near as nice as Jaguars. So the quality of the Jaguar is not even an issue for me. Worst thing about Jags is the annoying start-stop feature but you can turn it off. Lights are fantastic, visibility is not the best in class but that is due to the sleek design. As for their performance in snow, the AWD systems are superior to that of Volvo and Audi and these things rip through snow, mud and rain with no issues and they inspire confidence. Electronics age quickly in all cars like a phone or a lap top so I cannot fault Jag for the that and the new PiviPro system is as good as anything else out there and the Meridian Sound System is very good. But it is the ride and handling that exceeds all expectations and these cars are a blast to drive with the flattest handling and extremely tight and precise steering and confidence inspiring braking with no squatting. Acceleration is as good as it gets in a Jag - they are just brilliant on back roads ("B roads"). Porsches can cost 30 to 50 percent more than a Jag so not sure they are competitors. Best of all, Jags are comfortable like a luxury car but they still handle like a sports sedan so they are brilliant in that respect as daily luxury-sports sedans drivers. The good looks are timeless as I see 30 to 60 year old Jags and they still look better than most of the cars on the road today.

Your comment is truly spot on, and I appreciate your thoughts on this. Its really a sign of the future and all reliability will likely be compromised due to high levels of electronics and tech.

Great content again Mark, just two things I would like to add, the cross members were a Jaguar call back around 2015 I had mine checked and they said they were good, they are now showing a bit of surface rust but still nothing to worry about yet. The other point is with the squeaks and rattles, best fix is a pair of 200cell sports cats.

Haha true Dave. The odd squeak is irrelevant with the great exhaust tones. Next time my car is in the shop I will have them check out the cross part.

I replaced all the steel in the bottom and the rear subframes....new steel is better quality ...and now I coated it with waxoyl type stuff......only issue. Coolant pipes now on my car are metal too.... 2016 f type 55k miles...superb car. No issues.

@@markholubetz You live in "Alberta". the rust you have is probably because of the cold, the salt, the weather conditions. But if it rusts, it's not an important part. The most important part is made of 95% aluminum. 😁

Hi Mark, to centralise the rear cover I cut to size a rubber spacer (I bought a couple of walking stick rubber feet!) for each side, and fitted onto the prong. Cover doesn’t drop anymore.

Plastics are lightweight. That is why you find them in a lot of vehicles. The reason for this is to increase gas mileage. Jaguar went into the extreme incorporating aluminum body structure to increase even more gas mileage in to their vehicles.

Bought my first F type R (2021 model) in Nov last year (2022) in the UK. Moved from a Porsche so the build quality issues have really disappointed me. The car sounds epic and drives really well once you get used to the weight and size of the car. Mine is in the carpathian grey and has the large spoiler so looks stunning too. I've been to the dealership 7 times in three months with faults ranging from oxygen sensor failures to trim coming loose. The Jaguar cars are let down by the materials used and general build quality. This is a car that cost circa £110,000 new and has depreciated to £65000 in 2 years. I now know the reason for this having owned one. My car goes back next month as I am able to reject it due to the ongoing problems. I will let it go with a heavy heart but its simply not built to last like a German car.

Wow, that’s unfortunate to hear. I know many people have a range of issues from none to a couple minor issues like me to your situation. Either way, a 911 is a great car so that works, but from my perspective, driving a 992 gen2 back to back with the Jag Type R made it clear which car had my cash, and here we are. With that said, from the financial side, no doubt the 911 holds better than virtually all else.

Do you think the F Type will be as relevant in 15 years as the BMW E60 M5 still is?

Yes and maybe more so. Time will tell. It’s unique enough to keep the enthusiast draw.

Love your passion for the F-Type! How is that JLR can kill the F-Type after this MY with no replacement?!

Would you recommend carbon ceramic brakes on a road going f type?
@markholubetz

Well, I would not avoid them and if a used car had them, that’s fine, but for a new purchase I would go steel.

At 14:50 you complain about "high gloss" when the video clearly shows that it is not high gloss. You stick your hand into an area that no one would ever do and complain about a sharp edge. I generally like your videos but sometimes you just reach for things that aren't there. That said, I'm negotiating on a 2016 V6 manual F-Type coupe, I hope to close the deal today.

@@markholubetz Well... about that. I asked for some photos of the underside of the car, it didn't look that great and the tires were chewed up, the car had been driven hard, it made me think that the clutch may have been abused. I called the deal off. Sad, it was a rare car, very well optioned, but the price was high, it would need a set of tires right away, who knows what else. Had the seller put a set of new tires on it I'd have bought it.
