Interesting seeing how Trev can keep the trash talk up and still stay engaged in the lesson and ask for more info. Dude's a professional in more ways than one.
Well, he has to be, his suspension get sliced, making his return fairly soon, so learning more and more skills will be pivotal to his game when he is back
@@custombimmer maybe.. I hear the Mets a re kicking the tires. But I would not be shocked if his past and is "attitude" overshadow his talent for teams. So I stick with blackballed theory
The d-1 girls probably go against pitchers that throw about his speed, but at are more versatile in terms of location control and pitch variety. While the other guys are slower than trevor, so its harder on the girls to keep the same timing on their swings.
His "free fastball" pitches after the walks when he was lobbing it in were much easier to hit, because he was throwing more accurately. The other guys weren't giving them easy pitches after the walks.
he was really interested in delivery mechanics, like if it wasn't obvious due to the fact hes a major league pitcher, hes definitely worked extensively on delivery mechanics to the point where he knows what he'd probably have trouble with. Honestly, it wouldn't be surprised if given a couple months of training, he would be a serious threat to the d-1 girls.
Trevor should have a segment or a channel where experts teach him new skills. He's crazy coachable. Knowing how to learn is a skill in itself and he's great at it. He was exceeding d1 standards for velo within a couple hours and doing it relatively accurately given how new he was to the mechanics
It's been a minute since I've seen the show, but I think Shaq did something like that where he would learn a new skill and compete against a pro. It's a really cool concept and if the league keeps blackballing Trevor, it would be interesting if he tried adopting that as a youtube series.
As a softball coach, I've been massively intrigued on when Fastpitch will catch fire and become more popular than it is now. It's grown a lot in the last decade but hasn't hit that mainstream yet. You got one of the best to come and shoot content with you in Hope. Now just convince her former teammate, Jocelyn Alo, to show Sim how to really hit tanks!
I used to play/pitch fastpitch until my early teens when the league I was in folded. It is not very popular anymore in N. America but I really hope it makes a comeback!
This is a great video. As a softball dad and a former baseball player, it’s always good to see guys who play at a high level attempt softball to feel how hard the game actually is. These girls just deserve the respect for their game. Kudos to everyone in this video. We need more of this!
@@ScootsMcPoot with all due respect, softball is hard just because it’s hard. No qualifiers needed. Take any number of baseball players and allow them to train softball exclusively and their success to failure ratio at the plate would not change in any way from their baseball ratio.
@@MRBassFishing I don't doubt that it's hard, like any professional sport that requires a lot of practice, but I think the biggest problem here was inexperience. Taking an hour to do what these girls have done for years certainly isn't easy, and more familiarity with it might bring it back down to reality. The most difficult thing here is learning how to pitch in that style. Softball by itself is played by normies without a lick of practice, and I'm sure it wouldn't take long for anyone to learn how to hit a 60-70mph pitch, which is relatively low on the speed scale. These girls were almost certainly used to hitting balls much faster than these guys were throwing.
@@98cents The difficulty is in the timing and reaction time. The softball rubber is 43 ft. From home. A 67 mph pitch is same reaction time as a major league batter facing a 101 mph pitch. This is why major league players CAN'T hit a softball pitcher at 43 ft. Jenny Finch proved that!
Trev was giving em what they are used to seeing and was throwing strikes. Pretty impressive, it's not that easy. I'd like to see if big leaguers can hit a good d1 pitcher.
I will say, Trevor picked it up well. They actually could hit off him because he was around the zone and he was throwing more at their typical hitting speed. Also, the strike zone is SO small. Like absolutely tiny.
And simple contact equals a homer in baseball, I don’t know why people pretend offense is hard in softball it’s literally extremely easy, even with dominating pitchers avg runs per game are like 5
I don't understand how there's so many stories that Trevor is a nightmare on teams and hard to play with. He seems really chill, and like he genuinely takes everything seriously. You can tell by how he was with Hope that if he's getting instruction from someone that clearly is more knowledgeable than him, he listens and learns well. I want to see Trevor back in the MLB. The haters can stfu, his methods are weird but they clearly work. Let him cook.
the high stress environment of professional baseball could bring out a side of him that we dont get to see in these videos. filming for momentum is a completely different beast compared to the rigors of MLB baseball. not saying that this is fact, just a guess on why those stories exists.
I played softball at Glendale Community College (Arizona) then transferred to a small school in New Mexico. When i was at GCC we played a scrimmage game at ASU and the score ended up being like 38 to 5 lol. I was playing left field and eventually stopped chasing the balls hit over my head because they were completely just obliterating them. D1 players are on another level. I have to say I'm impressed with how hard Trevor is throwing underhand for learning how to pitch in an hour.
100% I unfortunately had to medically retire giving up my D2 baseball scholarship, I was a pitcher also I learned how to pitch softball pretty well so I could teach my younger sister I remember throwing 52 and thinking it was absolutely gas, then I got into the box against one of our girls at my high school who had a D1 scholarship to FSU and she was throwing 62 that was menacing
trev probably "did the worst" only because his pitches were similar to the pitches the girls are at the d1 level. he was so consistent that they were probably used to his style of pitches.
I'm surprised they were as competitive as they were after only the briefest of crash courses. When you've been perfecting one kind of throwing motion your whole life it's really hard to pick up another one that quickly, and it looks like Trevor was at least beginning to get the hang of it even though he lost
they were able to hit trev because he was throwing the hardest. The strikes he threw are closer to meatballs for them. he was also the only one to get a whiff
It's actually not that hard to go from pitching a baseball to pitching a softball, the mechanics are pretty much the same, just a different arm position
Love it! The ASU girls are hilarious! Keep the content coming! I also hope fast pitch softball gets big for the men's leagues, it's boring seeing slow pitch get crushed in those reels.
This video is a great example of why men's fastpitch is almost dead in the US: almost no men under the age of 50 or 55 know how to pitch. The game was huge in the 70's and 80's, but started dying out hard after 2000 or so.
@@teebob21 The USA mens team actually just placed 3rd in the mens fastpitch world champtionship early this month!! (they did have aussie born pitcher pitching for them) but its definitely very popular! Alot of our New Zealand go play over there in our off season!
@@laylamcdowell3298 Correct, but the recreational game is nearly dead nationwide. There are a few leagues still kicking around on the West Coast, but its way down from 20 years ago. I'm involved with USA Softball as a state staff member. I was an umpire in the 2004 Men's National Tournament. My state used to have weekly invitational tournaments, Class C and D mens, plus 40-Over, and 45-Over tournaments. Now we have one area rec tournament and C/D state...and the quality of play is abysmal compared to the past. It's sad....men's fastpitch is the greatest game out there, and it's accessible to everyone, if you can find pitching.
Finally!😅 I know MLB is “The Show”. But mens Fastpitch is out there! I wish I could come throw some BP. In the Mens game we do throw from 46 feet, and release point at like 40-38 feet. And we are ALLOWED to crow hop (even through I don’t, straight push and drag). We get up to mid to high 70’s. And some top guys dip in the low to mid 80’s. 🔥. You guys need to find a mens pitcher that could pop in. Are you guys in SoCal?
@@bradfletcher1991 oh yes he does, if I remember correctly he threw quite hard himself 🤣..... look up ISC men's fastpitch... Or ISF world championships and watch some of the pitchers.. if they're in Arizona Jeremy Manley is an assistant at ASU he could show them what it's all about 👍
Glad i found this channel. Always been a huge fan of Trevor and the rest of the gang seems pretty fun. Seems like an awesome bunch of dudes to hang out with.
It's so cool I met Hope at a softball game a couple of weeks after this video was posted! I love you Hope. If you see this I met you at the game in Peoria,IL against a blue team! You're so inspiring!
I'd love to see Trevor learn how to crowhop in Softball pitching as its what is aloud in Mens Fast pitch. Please get some Mens softball pitchers to come pitch for you maybe Adam Folkard!!! Eric Sim going to get folded ;)
Would love to see the guys try to hit Adam Folkard or Sean Cleary! Both play for their countries in world championship. couple of the best pitchers in men’s fast pitch
Great film! Fast pitch riseball and change up are awesome and can make a batter look silly. But a good drop ball always got me hitting into a ground out lol. Loved fastpitch better than baseball! Happy New Year from Northern Michigan!
I just started to watch all their videos once I saw Juco vs Trevor rivalry, this is the best and funniest sports channe on RU-vid. Keep it up guys. SWORD
Trev actually did really good in my opinion he was the most consistent and was the closest to the zone. The reason why he lost is because he was throwing too many strikes.
Yeah…have to learn to throw it consistently in the zone before you can get fancy with the placement. If this was a real game, the batters could have just not swung and walked every bat on the other pitchers because they weren’t as consistent.
I’m laying in bed watching this and Erics first pitch that got hit right up the middle to the camera bout made my soul jump out of my body😂😂 done thought I got drilled
Chloe , it wasn't your fault. It took me 3 practices to start lighting the girls up. I had 2 OU pitchers i had coached before in slow pitch playing summer ball at the house with 5 of our pitchers and me for a week. Man i miss coaching. My daughters are 37 and 34 now. When they graduated 1 went to FAU , she played for 2 years. Slow pitch made hitters , fast pitch my slow pitch girls killed. Love all the comrade and all you guys videos
That was fun to watch. I have tried pitching softball. I can appreciate what those guys did in one hour and how well a couple of them got a handle on it. Thanks
I'm ready to see you vs some pro cricket bowlers and switch out pitchers and hitters. You really should set it up. They say Babe Ruth loved when he did this challenge
These girls are content Sav has a little more like entertainer in her and the skills, and Yanni has the skills but is still entertaining would love to see them both back for future videos
I'd really like to see how D1 Softball Girls would do going up against some ASA A-Major Mens or NAFA Mens pitchers...those guys can get scary with their movement and sheer speed
Eddie Feigner. Arguably the greatest fastpitch pitcher in history could throw a 104mph fastball. He could also pitch accurately with velocity from behind his back and between his legs with absurd windups.
My dad played fast pitch softball back in the 70s. The guys would pitch from almost second base so they wouldn't get killed on a line drive up the middle. When we would play catch growing up he would whip it underhand sometimes.
