Over a year in remission now of Ulcerative Colitis, thanks to a fiber rich plant based diet. Once in remission, I added cold showers, eating only twice a day, and running and then I could stay in remission. I am now healthier than I have ever been in my whole life. I am training to run a marathon in the fall!
This is glorious, I have been researching "ibs symptoms relief" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Mackorny Defeat IBS Blueprint - ( search on google ) ? Ive heard some super things about it and my buddy got cool results with it
I have IBS and I just wanna say that although believe plant based is the best diet for healthy people, for folks with IBS it might need some tweaking. I've struggled with IBS for pretty much my whole life. Used to eat meat and less fiber, switched to high fiber plant based diet and after 2 months, so not early on, and my digestive system has had plenty of time to adjust, but I've just had a really bad flare up of my IBS. Lost a lot of weight over just a few days, was feeling terrible in every way. And you know what helped ? Changing my diet a little to avoid high fodmap foods. I eliminated things like beans which were supposed to be super good for me, and wheat products. Switched to sour dough bread. No more yellow bananas, watermelon, apples. No garlic which I used in powder and would add to every meal because I wanted the variety and it was supposed to be healthy and great for me. You get the idea. I also reintroduced small amounts of chicken for more protein and nutrients and I'm slowly recovering and regaining weight, and energy to function really. Predominantly plant based, moderate fiber, moderate protein, low-ish fat diet without any high fodmap foods is what seems to be working for me.
Yes, he's definitely THE MAN! Invaluable information. Great book, fabulous course. I've helped several clients reverse gut issues with the knowledge that I've gained from Dr. B. What a blessing he is !!!
The fear of gluten and parabens needs to die! So thankful we have scientists in research who speaks about this more and more👍 Excellent video as always with Dr. B! Top notch gastroenterologist! Btw great iron supplement is Nutrigold Iron Gold made out for curry leaf extract, standardized for 18mg per dosage.
Well, I can't really handle gluten so well. I had a pizza a few days ago, and I felt pretty bad the next day. With veggies I'm okay. Other doctors say that bread can damage the intestines, but Dr. B say otherwise. I know I rarely consume breads, pizza.
This is very useful information, I'm allergic to so many things its amazing, I know my gut needs healing, right now I'm off meat, and I'm always bloated
Garlic and onions are good in moderation for gut health, as they have prebiotic fibers. They used to cause me alot of problems (IBS-C) but after I went to a diet that was plant-based and had more fruits and vegetables (I do use some oil and salt), my problem has mostly gone away.
I try to eat fiber through oatmeal, cooked vegetables, but I struggle with that due to my IBS. Before having IBS, there would have been no issue eating veggies. I have to figure out how consume veggies while getting better.
I have found that adding juicing to my daily diet helps with bowel passage. The fruit enzymes are powerful in breaking down the contents in the GI track.
Andrew Taylor is the king of the Spud Fit Challenge. He ate nothing but potatoes for a year. He lost 100+ pounds. One eason he did this was to reset his taste buds, great for people with food addiction. Also, Dr. McDougall states that one can live sustainably on only potatoes.
Since age 13 had serious IBS many years ago -got off gluten- all dairy take magnesium citrate and now symptom free also eating plant based little to no processed food- perfect really doesn’t exist I love ff too !!
Don't go around lying to people, this is not a good diet for certain individuals and should be based on individual through their physician, sorry but my IBS became worse and bent me over in pain, daily. Make sure to tell people everything is based on the individual, this is not a cookie cutter situation.
The seeds play a big part of the problem though. Now the dehydration could play along with it. Beets and banana helps constipation lots. Water alone does not help in a lot of cases the water has no minerals to float the log😂
اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰـه I am from Indonesia , Muslim Watching your chanel RU-vid Make me more grateful being Muslim .. how my religion guading about food what I can eat what I can't... all not far for what you explaint... Thanks
Mix a cup of chia seeds with half a gallon of sugar free almond milk, add stevia and fruit to taste, eat that throughout the day along with whatever else you eat. If you see improvement, do it again the next day. I did it for three days and did not have to take my usual 9 pills of loperamid (Imodium AD) and 4 pills of dicyclomine (Bentyl). Does this work for anyone else?
“You have IBS” Said the specialist 15 years ago. “Don’t eat too many fruit and vegetables” he added. When I told him I was a vegetarian he just laughed. I’ve been a vegetarian for 27 years, forgive me if I think you’re talking crap.
I cannot eat most plants, no fruit, no pulses, no high-fructose vegetables or vegetables that create gas. I also cannot eat dairy products either. IBS is an uncompromising thing.
My daughter has EDS with low motility too! We’re now off miralax & thanks to recent podcast w Dr B on Rich Roll I learned about magnesium oxide for constipation. It has been working wonderfully. I found capsules on Amazon, inexpensive. We are finding two capsules at 420 mg each per night to be gently effective. But let’s ask questions in their next Q&A because we need info on gut health with connective tissue disorders where the constipation is basically mechanical due to low motility.
I have sibo and leaky gut. Should i eat the FODMAPs to heal my gut? Or do I still avoid them? I can’t find any information on that. I’m confused because I’d be feeding the microbiome in my small intestine.
Don't avoid them altogether. Reintroduce them slowly over a period of weeks, as much as you can tolerate. The easiest fiber to start out with is soluble fiber in oats, and oats are also anti-inflammatory. Fruit is also good, like green bananas. I had pretty bad IBS-C and that's what I did after watching Dr. Angie Sadeghi talk about IBS. I also watched alot of Gojiman's videos on IBS and SIBO. I took acacia gum dissolved in water as a prebiotic supplement along with eating oatmeal at first. After about a month of eating a restricted diet of low FODMAP foods with supplemental acacia gum and probiotics (a little kombucha every day), I started reintroducing FODMAPs in small amounts and found they really didn't bother me anymore unless I ate them in quite large amounts. I did the FODMAPS diet off and on for almost eight years and it never improved my symptoms to the point I wasn't eating a restrictive diet, and I was dealing with gut hypersensitivity alot. Herbal antibiotics also didn't work very well.
@@Magnulus76 thank you for sharing. I’ve been on low fodmap, low histamine for years and haven’t improved. Gut is worse. I eat oats every day. I used to make my own kefir, kimchi, sauerkraut and sourdough bread but became histamine intolerant. It’s tough. I only weigh 92 pounds and I’m 57.
@@karenduey9675 Unfortunately the FODMAP's diet restricts alot of foods that are helpful for restoring the gut microbiome. I think you'll get better results if you take motility regulating drugs or herbs, too, because good regularity is important for restoring gut health. I recommend checking out Gojiman's channel as he is a vegan nutritionist that has dealt with SIBO. He has alot of good advice. I am doing a stool test through Ombrelabs. I'm still awaiting the results.
I'm having so much trouble with bloating and distention. I get so bloated that I look 3 or 4 months prego. Did you end up taking the fish oil? Did it help you? My dietitian recommended it to me too.
May I ask.... I just got diagnosed with a slow thyroid and was put on medication for it. Now I am also advised (a.o.) not to eat any soy products. I live in Europe so all soy products sold are the organic kind. Please advise since I like to eat a plantbased diet and need the protein.
He suggests some over the counter magnesium citrate to get moderate to severe constipation moving before ramping up the fiber. His book "Fiber Fueled" explains in great detail why.
Dr Will is a gastroenterologist and probably not the ideal person to ask. Start with Nutritionfacts.org and search for Parkinson's. Dr Greger breaks down all the studies on nutrition and health, including parkinson's. Good luck!
Does anyone know where to find the gluten video he mentioned? I just looked at his igtv and there are a lot of videos and none of them are labeled or give me any clue as to which one it is
My son is sick for 2 years I been going to lot of doctors there in a result there is no diagnose he could not stop BurpingHe is on holfoodiet that nothing is change Would you please help me if you can Have a Recomendationto any doctor you know I I would be grateful
I always wonder if he's advocating a plant based diet not necessarily just because it's healthy but because he wants people to stop eating animal products which is great but takes away from the argument that it's the heathiest...
