Hey, so to add from my own experience since the video is very general; my sharpei is a velcro dog and won't leave my side once I'm in the house, but when I'm out he's okay. He doesn't whine, doesn't bark a lot, only scratches the door 2 or 3 times and he's off doing something else. I've had 2 sharpeis, and yes; a sharpei can definitely be left alone at home after it's properly potty trained. You can leave him alone for a few hours and it will most definitely sleep throughout the day. But I'd highly recommend taking him on a long walk when you get home, otherwise he'll have a lot of energy and will be acting out. And I myself have never needed to crate train them. They don't destroy things if they're provided enough toys and chewing treats and/or aren't currently teething. They're very chill.

i must say the shar pei was my first pet it was fun having around , the cleaning all in the wrinkles was interesting but well worth it . my small issue is they get dry skin very easy . they are basically breed for fighting in china long time ago

i adopted my sharpei mix from a rescue in louisville kentucky and i can honestly say she was the best dog ive ever had. she did not need to crated but instead had her own large bed in the living room that was her space. she was very submissive though so if one of the cats was laying on her bed, she would lay beside it unless i told her to go lay down then she would go onto her bed. she didnt like the flooring in the living room so she generally stayed on her bed when i was gone but there were times when id come home and she’d be waiting for me by the front door. she was very timid when i got her but over two years of socializing, she really blossomed and loved everyone around her including strangers and other dogs. i still remember when we went to get the mail and she spotted a bug crawling. she sniffed it and then started hopping like she wanted to play with it. she was such a gentle baby, i miss her so much.

This video is a few years old at this point, but I adopted a 5 year old shar pei/husky mix a couple of years ago (she's now 7 years old). She liks to be in the same room as me but is quite independent. While most days, she only spends a few hours by herself (my sister and I have alternating work schedules), she is perfectly fine if she spends a long afternoon by herself. I just need to make sure she's had a good amount of exercise, around 2 hours thanks to her husky half. She's crate trained, but is honestly just fine chilling out on the couch, on her front room bed, on my bed, or in her open crate. This is just her and I did luck out in adopting a dog with very good house manners already.

I adopted a rescue and he was well potty trained. Stays on the couch or his dog bed and very soft dog. Glued to my side when I'm in the room with him but very out of sight out of mind he's cool to ignore my absence after moments of whining. But I bond with him all day my days off we go hiking and hes my bro. Think he gets sick of me by the time I gotta go to work. He's a very introverted guy. His bark though. When he wants attention he doesn't have a volume other than "LOOK AT ME LOOK".
