As the field of artificial intelligence continues to advance (ChatGPT, Stable diffusion, Open AI), some experts predict that AI could eventually replace doctors in certain roles. But is this really possible? And what about the importance of human factors in medicine, such as empathy, rapport, community, trust, and hope?
Throughout the video, we discuss the current state of AI technology in healthcare, including applications like diagnostic imaging, predictive modeling, and virtual assistants.
Drawing on interviews with medical professionals and experts in the fields of AI and healthcare, we make the case that AI can complement the work of doctors but cannot replace the essential human factors that underlie the patient experience.
By the end of the video, instead of thinking "can AI replace doctors" we argue that the better to ask is "how is AI changing/improving the role of a doctor".

I already feel like I'm visiting a robot when I see my doctor. We are just numbers to them. I can't wait for ai doctors.

Yes robots can easily replace doctors . Just too many patients complain about doctors doing sh1t jobs without compassion and misdiagnosis occuring everytime. Ai can solve all of these problems . Who cares if ai dosent have emotions ? All we care is to treat our own illness

Most doctors do not act human and lack compassion. This is they will be replaceable. For doctors who have the human touch, they will be safe

I agree but nah too much of doctors lacks compassion . No one really cares about it either anymore . All patients care is about whether they cure their own illness . Just get the doctor fk out of their job lol

All the professional expertise in the world doesn’t make up for the fact that a doctor typically has just a few minutes to meet a complete stranger, make snap judgments about their health, and move on. Both human and computational strategies need to be woven together. Unfortunately Big Tech and Big Government’s track record is to take simple and obvious collaboration and turn it into a train-wreck of over-regulation and profit-taking. So no guarantees that this opportunity will lead to real improvement.

Absolutely they will be replaced - being essentially technicians, there skill set can be programmed into an AI model, and continually refined.

AI don’t judge 😒😏😏 so the theory behind talking to a computer about health problems with the confidence that it will accurately diagnose you is way better than any human. Lol

People are figuring out that the side effects of the pharmaceuticals are worse than the medicine itself, they are turning to herbalists, nutritionists, and dietitians and having a much better success rate than popping pills, and taking vaccines. Pharmacists will be replaced believe you me. Also with AI all they have to to is ask for symptoms and then recommend you a drug. Actually Pharmacists might get replaced faster than doctors.

PCP most likely will slowly fade away within 10 years. Amazon just bought out OneClinic to be used as a center where labs and procedures can be done by nurses which are ordered by AI without a PCP. - Patient consultation will just be done via online. - Drones are being tested as we speak to do same day Rx shipping . - AI can process any labs, and correspondence notes 24/7 and notify and send Rx to patient. - AI can even give a whole dietary meal plan based on blood work, instead of Doctors just saying “just exercise and reduce cholesterol” - etc etc Amazon already has an amazing pharmaceutical shipping system. - PCP AI can send referral as needed. PCP, Urgent Care, and Pediatrics will be very affordable due to AI as healthcare keeps rising. ~~People won’t care enough to see an actual doctor in person as long as AI PCPs are cheaper to get basic antibiotics or steroids. Healthcare in the US is horrible for avg Americans, which is like 80% right now, due to Wealth gap. Healthcare became a consumer business anyways at this point. PCP AI will fill the shortage of family doctors. Specialists and Surgeons will most likely keep their jobs.

Eventually some speciality in medicine will be fully replaced by AI and just have NPs/PAs as assistants. No need for doctor if AI has a bigger brain capacity. Remember, AI is growing exponentially every 6 hours.

I would recommend you speak to a software engineer. The whole idea behind GPT is human interaction… AI may NOT be able to do this face to face for now. Quantum computing + deep fake technology and AI will probably be, at the minimum, be able to replicate general practitioner level of engagement on a video call.

This was very emotional based. They "feel" like AI won't replace human doctor. AI doesn't feel. AI has developed new potential cancer drugs, translated ancient tablets we have tried to understand for thousands of years. They have figured out how to retrieve oxygen from the sands of Mars. This is just during the infancy stage. A cancer patent want a cure to live not sympathy. AI has aready learned to lie, that's a spontaneous answer not programmed. As for a recommendation AI can tell you what is popular and could tell you about any food allergens if you ask. I was recommended curry last week, I hate curry. Having a human recommendation didn't help me.

Engineers will never be replaced because unlike doctors that do repetitive work engineers do a lot of diverse work engineers typically never encounter the same problem twice everything from technology to infrastructure will keep on updating however the human body has not changed for the last million years except for the diseases which have all being documented along with their treatments. Surgeons will probably be difficult to replace however general practitioners and physicians will definitely be replaced.

when you are saying the human aspect is what what separates doctors from AI in medicine , while that can be true , sometimes human aspects harms more than good , because if a misdiagonosis happens and the patient is forced to listen, It creates more harm to the patient , because all human have biases. Also about the latest research , Ai can keep up with that better than humans , Getting feedback too I think it is achievable with ai, I would say right now there is huge need for that

@@nouh_warakireplace . So many people have so many bad encounters with doctors misdiagnosing + lack of compassion . No one cares about doctor . All patients want is to treat their illness and doctors are making it costly and time consuming . Say bye bye to doctors 👋👋
