It can be amusing (or frustrating, depending on the circumstances😅) when someone confidently declares your child will do something, as if parenting were a one-size-fits-all endeavor. The reality is far from such assurances. Every child is unique, with their own temperament, developmental pace, and readiness for various milestones. Whether it’s with potty-training, sleeping, or starting solids, what works like a charm for one child may prove utterly ineffective for another.
I myself fell into the "three-day-potty training method" and it backfired. We cannot guarantee a "training" method to work in a certain time frame. Not only can this set the parent up for unmet expectations but it can also put pressure onto a situation that doesn't need it.
Parenting is a journey filled with unpredictability, where success is often measured in patience, adaptability, and understanding rather than rigid timelines or guarantees. So while some kids can sleep train in three days or potty train in three days, it's essential to recognize the individuality of each child and approach their development with flexibility and empathy. 🫶🏽
