Hey thanks for this video. Just bought a Can Am that would run perfect for a minute or two then backfire and stall out. I took a half hour to follow your instructions and the bike runs perfect now. Awesome!
I have the exact same machine. there are two fuel filters in the gas tank. I had the exact same problem. the fuel filters within the gas tank disintegrated and there was a lot of junk in the tank. I took it all out, replaced the grommets and fuel filters within. all worked like a charm. dealership tried to tell me i needed a new tank (it was BS). also rebuilt carburetor but never replaced filters in the tank. gave it back to me in pieces and said i owed 170+ for the carb rebuild. I did it all myself and it ran perfectly. your video is very handy.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Your video was spot on. We have an 08 Outlander, and that micro screen was plugged up! The bowl and jets were spotless. I sprayed them down anyway. It runs purrrfect! I wish they all had micro screens. I do believe that I’m going to change all the fuel lines and install filters. I can’t believe there were no filters. Thank you so… much!
i own this same quad and it was all the time having starting/idling issues. added a fuel filter right before the carburetor and switched to all non-ethanol fuel......still that little screen kept getting clogged up. none of these videos talk about adjusting the "idle speed" screw on the carburetor - doing so made a huge difference for me. also the charging system was replaced but still any battery i throw in it, it never has sufficient charge if sitting for a couple weeks. i own lots of other equipment (log splitter, power washer, chainsaws, mowers, etc), each with a carburetor and none of them suffer any of these problems. after removing that "last chance" filter that kept getting clogged, the quad has run so much better. because of where the mfg placed it, it'll be easier to clear a clogged injector port (should it ever need it) than it is to get to the screen, very inconveniently placed. hope all this info helps someone else down the line.
Bill Garrison what was yours doing? Did it run fine for a while and then just started missing and not want to run and shut off? Then it would turn back on and run for a minute and shut back off again? I have a 04 Outlander 330 and it runs fine when first started and cold and then after abort 15-20 mins riding it’ll not want to run anymore.
@@wvoutdooradventures1052 exactly my problem on my 05 model. the screen was FULL of BOG and when i blowed in to the fuel line there came even more of the same stuff :D i have a fuel filter inline and an eeeelectric fuel pump. i guess that pump puched that gung thru the lastic screen inline filter. i need to change it for a paper filter asap.
electric pump working like a dream but you need to make an y split or the carb will overflow. i used the reserve tank hose for the outlet and the upper hose as a return to tank from the pump y connection. zhuoran is the chinise brand pump. just a normal piston fuelpump that cost 10 bucks in china.
04' Traxxter 500 5spd here. Looked EXACTLY like the inside of that filter screen. I didn't expect it to be that dirty. It's run rough for awhile and eventually would not start at all.
Did this fix your problem? It was a really great video and I’m super thankful for it. I did what you did. I had gunk in my bowl and a little on the filter, but I’m still having the same exact issue as you described in the video.
Great video man. I have a question I hope you can help. On these can am bikes if you tip the carburetor upside down, you're looking at the bowl, to the left is the heater for the carb, then right is the enrichment screw, now for the life of me, what is that last port on the right. I bought this bike used..there was nothing in it. Any help would be great. Thanks.
I did exactly what you said to do when having a problem with going two or three laps and it starts cutting out clean the carburetor exactly like you said problem solved
Hello, I have a canam just like the one in the video. Can someone help me? I'm changing 5 gasoline pumps. Do you think something else is affecting the pump, recommend something I'm desperate, help
Any idea what size fuel lines are on it? Mine has this problem but unfortunately it is stuck 2 miles into the back country (I have snow tracks on it) and I have to snowshoe back in on Saturday and fix it. Would help to know the fuel line size so I can take in a spare fuel filter and lines to bypass the fuel tank just in case.
Good luck the bike weighs more from plastic than anything . Found there is three fasteners and two hoses for no reason. I'm only going to put one back on never know this pos will do it on a trail . I'll never trust mine far from camp ever again
thanks buddy. i think this was my problem as the screen was FULL of swamp fiber and when a hooker blew on to the fuel line after i took the screen off there came out a handfull of bog :D maybe a doll hand but still too much for a sscreen of that size.. my symptoms was such that i could drive on low gas normally. but on full gas it went from 200 meters to 1km normally aND THEN STARTED TO BOG DOWN. STO THE MOTOR AND START AGAIN LIKE NOTHING. DRIVE AND SAME THING AGAIN. I'M NOW ON Y LUNCH BRAKE SO DUNNO IF IT WORKED BUT I'M FAIRLY CONFIDENT THIS IS MY PROBLEM LMAO .. SRY FOR THE CAPS. TOO LAZY TO FIX THAT THO..
