People who talk shit about a 850 vs 1000. Seriously stop ruining the atv community with hate and enjoy riding with others. I don't give a shot what you ride as ling as you want to go riding.

I have four gades..a 2012 1k, a 2012 800 xxc, a 2009 800 and a 2009 500. All have been 100% dependable, never an issue, never broke anything. I have had two popos in the past, 2008 and 2001 500 scramblers. Never let me down either.

Recently looked at a Scrambler and a Renegade as I wanted a Sport 4x4. Ended up with a Can Am Renegade 500. The Renegade 800 was too pricey and the 1000 was just way more bike than I'll ever need. The deciding factor for me was the placement of several things on the Scrambler that just looked like they couldn't figure out where to put them. Completely happy with the Can Am. Already added 27's, clutch kit, and some Koplin fender flares that work while maintaining the aggressive look. PS: I also own a 2012 Honda Rancher and 250X. Love all three of my quads for different reasons!

Just looked at a Scrambler 850 and seen what you were talking about. The coolant reservoir is kind of just hung up in the front and looks susceptible to something coming off the front tire and completely destroying it. Never paid attention until I read your comment.

I'd buy the Can Am no questions asked. Only because I have a Polaris and know how much they love wrenches. It seems they cheap out on a lot of things. Dirt Trax loves Polaris, they must only test new ones and trade often lol

Slick Willy lol try owning a can am. we used to spend big money. can am is a beautiful machine. and they come out with all the candy. I went back to Polaris because I wanted a actual front diff to work. and more space. I paid about 2000.00 less but also realize that can am has more accessories from stock. really is all about what u want. both are top notch machines. not one is less quality.
@stephenwilson2504

I had a can am for years, had zero problems. I only switched because new ones are so expensive and got a better deal with my Polaris. I like my Polaris don't get me wrong, just feel like they cheap out a little.

My 2008 800 was a rocketship. The renegade is the best 4x4 sport quad ever made. The 1000 is prob too fast for any beginner, I've been riding for 30 years and I would love to ride a 1000. I can imagine they're ridiculously fast. You have spend some time on one of these bikes to fully appreciate them. An absolute blast to ride in all conditions.

I have the 2014 Renegade 1000, it lasted 4 hours and then the rear diff, exploded at 11mph. BRP wouldn't warranty it and said that it was going 11mph and than suddenly stopped wheel spin too fast in snow somehow and that was considered "ABUSE". They are using this excuse for many new broken Renegades, I wouldn't advise buying one, I won't ever again. Looks cool and went fast for 4hrs, only cost 14k, do the math.

I own both a 08 Grizzly 700 and a 13' Renegade 1000 XXC, there is absolutely NO comparison between the two. After riding the grizz for 5 years, i thought it was the best. That was until i set foot on a can am. Can Am has a one up on every category on the grizzly. With the new grizzlys being almost $10k MSRP, its a no brainer to spend the extra $3k and get the much better machine.
@itsme78932
@itsme78932 11 лет назад
Oh yes its very possible. Greg (MRRPM) did a set of cams/full exhaust, and a good dual cylinder tune and he gained 20WRPH. Add his Gen 2 cams and bored TB, youll see 30 or so RWHP. Rotax responds the best to mods, its easy to get over 100RWHP from them lol. I like Yamaha as well, heck i still own my 08 Grizzly 700 EPS, i dont plan on selling it. But after settling in with the Renegade, its on a whole new level, bigger and better than the grizzly could ever be IMO.

Dirt Trax picking a Polaris as a winner by the host was going to happen no matter what. Polaris sponsor's their show and every commercial during the episode is a Polaris commercial. Just like the GM of Chevy picking Chevy as winner over a Ford. You can't even get a honest review anymore because it's all about money. The renegade won hands down, more power,better fit and finish,adjustable power steering,and fully ticked out race ready compared to a less powerful stock Polaris. He knows who the real winner is but he chooses to keep his job and paycheck because he works for Polaris. Amazed he didn't recommend Carlisle tires too.

Your 250 is a 2 stroke and these are 4. My M8 SnoPro has 160+ hp and these have around 80. I want a Renegade so bad, but the Scrambler is actually one Polaris ATV I wouldn't mind. A Yamaha Raptor 700 would be fun too probably. I have an AC 700 EFI LE with 28" Silverback X-Lites which can be scary without power steering, soooooooo I think a new bike is calling me. Thinking Xxc if I do buy.

If you want someone to test the polaris white lightning. i would love to for a discount. However i want to review it putting it through real tests on real mountain trails not these easy dirt tracks you guys have. I wanna see them handle logs, uneven terrain,jumps that aren't even, hard landings, rocky areas like creek beds and stuff. i want to put them through real tests that your average rider will encounter but usually at less aggressive speeds than how i drive. Maybe even put them through an endurocross like i did with my scrambler 500.

My can am had an engine explosion and killed my cat.. only had 1 hour on it.. then I sold it and bought a polaris and I've got 187,000 hours on it and never even changed the oil or any fluids. One time I accidentally rolled it off a 39 foot cliff with death spikes and not even a single scratch.. scrammy ftw

Can am does have diff lock and 4wd. The new QE differential engages so quickly, its not even noticeable. And i actually prefer the renegade's system, you dont have to stop to put it into diff lock. by that time you lost momentum. With the renegade you just keep going and it locks as you need it. It is a slightly different system, but once you ride it and get used to it, its as effective, if not more effective than a machine with selectable diff lock.

One MAJOR thing that I feel people overlook because everyone is concerned about overly plush ride and who has the best dyno sheet is the 4WD system! I know Can Am has come a long way with visco lok, but it still isnt perfect. Why would I spend over $10,000 on something that wont even spin all 4 tires all the time? If your a serious rider climbing serious hills or in running some nasty rutted and rocky trails, then you know the importance of traction. Polaris wins in that category every time.

It would easily take $4K+ to match a 800 in a straight line. Handling wise? Youd have to put $2K into shocks easily. The grizzly handles like a bear in comparison. And even with the shocks, not sure it would handle as well. And once you put all that work into the grizz, the renegade owner could put $1500 into his machine and blow it away. Add a full exhaust, tuner, cams, 51mm bored TB, and a dual cylinder tune and youre looking at +30-35 RWHP.

And as far as getting a grizzly and building it to "eat" a can am 800, that wont work very well. Once you start going into the engine doing big upgrades, dependability is greatly effected. To even keep up youd probably have to do a BBK stroker, which being a single cylinder, wont be a smooth at all. Even in the stock form the grizzly doesnt have the smoothest engine. The Rotax 800 has almost double the power of the Grizzlys 686cc engine. An exhaust/tuner, and you can add another 10 to the rotax

if both machines are so close in comparison why would you spend 5k extra to get a can-am? yes the can-am has more hp but a 2013 can-am outlander 800r loses to a 850 ho xp in a drag race and its wasn't even that close. the 1000cc can-am doesn't change anything in the clutching between the 800 and 1000 yes the 1000 has more torque and can get up to speed a little faster but youll barely notice the difference between the 1000cc outlander and a 850cc xp they are very close in a drag race but ill pick the xp's ride quality anyday over can-am.

I have made up my mind in all aspects of these quads except: Reliability. Anyone have any input regarding the reliability of these two quads, or just Can am vs. Polaris in general? I am interested in buying one. Also, I have heard a lot of horror stories about people being screwed by dealers when they bring their Can Am's into the shop. I currently own a Polaris and have had a few issues with it, but I am happy overall (winches and batteries are absolute trash though). I have only been around people with Polaris and Yamaha quads. Also, if you have input into the AWD systems (love my Polaris AWD system), or any other aspects, let me know. Thanks in advance.

I ran and owned a ATV repair shop. There both great quads. Parts on a can am is definitely higher priced. And if u decide to go out driving over logs and rocks stay away from can am the visco diffs are the worst look up visco fail... more then a handful of videos. But I'd u are just trail riding and mudding them can am. If u want cheaper parts and actual locking diffs get polaris. Polaris has a great ride and so does can am. Try them both out. These are just facts

I hope some day Honda does something like this. They have such a reliable engine, and a prehistoric record, but now they are just so boring. My dad bought the Can Am Renegade 800 Xxc because it had so many options, looked better, and, in his total opinion, rode better. The Scrambler lost to him because the handle bars just felt so cheap, the shifter is just a cold block of aluminum, and it looked so blocky, which he didn't like. None of these are better than the other, but they do tie each other up. I am in no way asking for a flame war, and I have owned both of these companies, but it seems that Ive had better luck with Can Am than Polaris, such as part quality, Looks, and all out fun.

+guy proulx 1st of all: Honda's are the slowest quads out there. 2nd of all: Some people like the raw power of the 1 litre quad so that takes away ALL of the Japanese quads. 3rd of all: Honda's are great entry level bikes; everything else, even the entry level, is completely as heavy as a boulder on an ice covered river. 420 Rancher is pretty cool. I mean 420? Great number! The 675 is as heavy as a locomotive and has the power of a 350cc machine. Recon 229 is a 229cc machine (Honda makes the best small bore engines).

preston121068 you must not have own a polaris cuz the suspension is amazing, honda an kawasaki suck i have driven both of them an they both cant even come close to the polaris, they maybe expensive but you get great quality.

better how isn't the polaris faster? neither company is known for their reliability... sooo yeah i would give it to faster ATV and one with best clearance and comfy features, which i think polaris wins in all

From what i here a 734 with ehs head mods etc can dyno close to 60hp and that will be enough to beat a can am 800. Type in grizzly 734 and in the go pro vid the guy races a can am 800 and the grizz takes it out of the hole.. don't no about top end thou. I have a gade and its fast as hell but I don't see it to be great at to much else

Notice the cheap plastic on the Polaris when he lands the jump. My buddie bought the same machine and already had to fix the CHEAP plastic mounts on the headlights and put a power steering unit in the price of shit... And my outy 800 stil whips it.

I'm surprised they would mention Can-Am's supposed quality and fit and finish. I have owned one of these G2 chassis pieces of crap and can tell you they are poorly assembled and cheaply made. I still have my 09 renegade and feel it is a more rugged machine. My newest machine is a 13 grizzly and i use it for everything and never feel that it would leave me stranded.

Sadly I have to say Polaris isn't a good brand. There cheap look nice but cheaply made. Can-Am wins this one by a long shot! Looks and riding wise.

A grizzly could be built, but would be it reliable? Nope. Would it be reasonable? Nope. Youd have to dump in several thousands to even come close to the Renegade 800. BBK, head porting, full exhaust, PCV w/autotune, clutching, ect ect ect, youd be into it for $4K+ easily if not more. And when you do that much work to an engine, it wont be as reliable as a stock engine.
