Thanks for the background and advice. Like you, I plan to take the motorcycle course next year when I turn 60 and hopefully, get a Spyder later in the year. Looking forward to it since I’ve never ridden a motorcycle.
Thanks for your comment. The Spyders are a great way to get into the motorcycle world when you decide to do it later on in life. In my travels I have met more than a few 2 wheel riders that are looking to the Spyder as a way to extend their riding as the years go by. The course is a great plan. It reduces the learning curve markedly. All the best to you on your journey into the three wheeled world. 👍🇨🇦
I use an LS2 as well. At first I really hated it because it didn't have cutouts for the speakers for my com unit. Very uncomfortable. So, I just used an exact knife and cut holes in the foam. Very simple solution made all the difference in the world. I have my goPro mounted to the chin bar but most of the time I wear it like you, folded back. When I film I just flip it over. Very informative video. I bought an open face CKX helmet as a starting point since this was my first season with my Spyder. It gets uncomfortable after about 90 minutes of riding not because it's too small (it's a 3XL!), but apparently because of the shape of my head as more experienced riders have told me. I searched all season for a modular or another open face helmet but just couldn't find one that fit just right. Yes, it is hard trying on helmets and trying to figure what it is going to feel like on a trip! I will resume my search next spring.
It's a real task. I liken it to when I was distance runner years ago. Trying on shoes and determining what are these going to feel like half way through the marathon.
Richard, have you tried a Shoei Neotec II? I wear a size medium in this brand. I had an XL in my HJC and it still gave me headaches because it was not made for my shaped head.
@@PurpleOnThree I had seen some Shoei helmets, but none would fit over my head, and then I saw the price and nearly fainted. I hope to find something once the new helmets come out next spring. Like Canuck Spyder, I hope to get a helmet for the cooler temperatures. Cheers PO3!

That was a mistake, it fit me like a glove lol. The shoei fits my head the absolute best.... I had several HJC helmets that I really liked but they never quite fit properly and shoei fits my head shape nicely. Tommy G and I both have the neo tech 2.
@@BikeBoatandTravel I guess you have to go in knowing what shape your head is and then do some research on what helmets fit that head shape the best. But you're right about trying them on in a store and knowing if that's the right one.
@@PurpleOnThree I have done all that research and overall I have had pretty good luck in getting some thing that was a reasonable fit. Leslie on the other hand seems to be right in between small and medium. So it then becomes a game of which manufacturer has the best fit for her. I am glad she is happy with the Shoei’s.
