I would make the argument that Goku has fought gods like Beerus and Zamasu, but Sonic has DEFEATED gods like Solaris, Chaos, Dark Gaia, and the Time Eater

Things to note -Goku is bulletproof and has been since childhood - Instant transmission is mainly used for long distance traveling requiring Goku to lock on to an energy source. Goku dodging can be done simply with Ultra Instinct, or just his normal combat speeds. - Ultra Instinct is a technique that Goku can use while in any form as more recent manga chapters confirm. -Super Sonic is invulnerable, but only when his guard is up. Instances like the S3&K intro cutscene, The Sonic Unleashed opening, and one cutscene in Sonic Frontiers, showcase instances of Sonic getting snuck or letting his guard down, resulting in him being dropped out of his Super form -Solaris was beaten by 3 people, because it was necessary. All 3 super hedgehogs were strong enough to beat Solaris 1 on 1, the reason it took 3 of them was because of Solaris being omnipresent. They all had to fight him individually on separate timelines for him to be taken out. This is evidenced by the dialogue that takes place during the battle with Solaris. -Game Sonic’s super form without a doubt, can contest with Goku’s forms. Battling present Solaris, and the Time Eater is essentially like Goku fighting Zeno. Solaris and the time eater were both capable of destroying timelines and reality almost as if nothing. The only character in Dragon Ball capable of doing this is Zeno, someone that Goku at his current state in the manga, can’t beat. It would definitely be a close battle physically, but Super Sonic, has the edge in hax and power. - Archie Sonic should be left out of these discussions seeing as Archie and Game Sonic aren’t the same being. Yes, Archie is without a doubt the strongest Sonic there is and he would wipe both Game Sonic and DBS Goku but if we’re talking about Archie Sonic, we have to level the playing field by comparing him to Xeno Goku.

I mean, Game Sonic isn't really anything to scoff at. By no means is he stronger than Archie Sonic, but as Super Sonic, he's taken down some strong characters, like Emerl, who absorbed the power of a Canon that destroyed a cluster of stars, Chaos, the God of Destruction, Metal Overlord, Solaris, someone that had to be fought in the past, present, and future, with Sonic fighting him in the present (so it was a fair three v three), Dark Gaia, Time Eater, and The End, with most of these being done alone. The only ones that weren't were Metal Overlord, like you said was done with the help of the other teams and Super Tails and Knuckles, Dark Gaia, which was done with a bit of help from Chip, Time Eater, which was just done with the past version of Sonic, and The End, which he either had help from Sage or Eggman depending on the ending. If you're also gonna bring up Hyper Sonic, I think it's fair to bring up his other forms, such as Darkspine and Excalibur Sonic from the storybook games and Super Sonic 2/Cyber Sonic from Frontiers, which is the form that allowed him to take out The End, who I forgot to mention, can be considered the embodiment of death. Like, come on. Again, I get Game Sonic isn't exactly the strongest version of Sonic, but a bit more of an in depth analysis would be nice. Also, not sure about Shadow being better at hand to hand combat when Sonic appears in 4 games with a focus on combat and Shadow appeared in 1. Maybe 2/3 if you count Shadow the Hedgehog and 06, but one of those games aren't even canon anymore. Edit:I did stuff wrong, he beat Emerl in base form and is able to do the same to Perfect Chaos as of Generations. That probably helps prove my point a bit.

Game Sonic's only real feats are beating Solaris who destroyed the entire universe which would put him at universal. With that being said however it still doesn't change the fact that Sonic's base form is only around planet level and you can't add super Sonic's feats to regular sonic since that's a transformation that he can't achieve on his own. Anime Goku has low multversal + feats by the end of the series due to the stuff he pulls like withstanding the hakai in base form (which can destroy your body and soul), completely mopping fused zamasu who was at the very least a million times stronger than him, nearly destroying the entire universe just by clashing his fist's with lord Beerus, beating kefla who can destroy a universe in one shot, defeating Jiren who shook an infinite realm just by walking, shaking the infinite dimension of the TOP just by powering up ect, ect. All of these feats put him at multiversal at a bare minimum. Manga Goku (AKA "canon" Goku) has all of these feats as well but even more advanced including additional ones like being able to contend with gas who was the strongest in his universe at the time. All of those feats combined easily makes manga Goku outerversal +. Now while it can be argued that Archie Sonic has feats that surpass some of this Goku still has stronger variants like Xeno Goku, CC Goku, COMP Goku, ect ect who have feats that scale beyond 11D/ outerversal and possibly even higher compared to Archie Sonic's 4D feats. Xeno Goku alone scales beyond outerversal in base form considering he beat foes like demigra (in base) who were threatening infinite timelines, dimensions, and even the real world itself. I don't think sonic is touching any of that even at his peak.

Key points for Shadow, Neo Metal Sonic, and Silver that give them more advantages. As said through Gerald’s research, Shadow has a major advantage of being immortal to basically all possible causes of death except for losing control of his power without his inhibitor rings. Neo Metal copies biodata to gain advantages and mimic the target’s attacks which could even potentially mimic the abilities of Ultra Instinct. Silver does have some offensive attacks with his psychokinesis such as the psychic knife and could also use the psychic shield in super form. Combine that with ESP and Meteor Smash and we’ve got a major upper hand for Silver.

Things to consider, just scaling wise on gokus base form, as the series continues, gokus base form just gets massively stronger each arc, from barely being able to destroy a planet to him basically having the power to blow up the entire universe in base form as he has shown to be stronger than kid buu who was stated that he was going to destroy the entire universe, and the dragon ball universe scaling is honestly a crazy concept which is at least low multiversal

Kinda wish you went over Blaze too. She's proved to be an amazing fighter with plenty of abilities to keep Goku on his toes and her Burning Blaze form rivals Super Sonic in power. And Goku isn't completely immune to fire, he's had trouble with guys like Nuova Shenron, whos moveset is almost entirely fire based. I don't think Blaze is gonna push Goku to go Ultra Instinct but I do believe she'd get as far as Super Saiyan God or maybe Blue.

Super forms fought time eater and solaris, where in TailsTube Tail's canonically states that there could be an infinite amount of alternate timelines, which the time eater was destroying all of space-time whilst Solaris' presence was capable of consuming all existing timelines. Besides this, you could also include maginaryworld, that has an insane amounts of dreams that are their own universes, in which the time eater and solaris were destroying all of. I've seen scaling for pushing this to Low Complex Multiverse level since maginaryworld is stated to have 4th dimensional infinite space, alongside a passage of time, making it a total of 5D, in which upscales everything prior. Immeasurable speed can also be debated from being stated to "fly through the end of time" (implying they had to fly through time to get to the end of time) and dodging attacks that appear in the past present future by solaris. anyway yea i should stop now

As you said, you don't know as much about dragon ball as you do sonic, so this isn't meant to be a attack or anything like that, I just wanted to point out something I noticed. (Game) Shadow, at full power, no inhibitor rings, and in his super form, would still get stomped by base form Goku. Literally nothing Shadow has ever done in his career matches him. In Battle of Gods, once Goku went super saiyan god for the first time, that power became his base. Once he powered down, he kept the power he received from going SSG. Then, added super saiyan on top of that. AND THEN, added another level of super saiyan, Blue, on top of THAT. What does this mean? Well. In his new base form, Goku clashed fists with Beerus. Which shook the entire UNIVERSE. It was stated that with their strength, there was a possibility they could destroy their universe in its entirety. And the world of Dragon Ball is canonically THOUSANDS of times bigger than the Sonic world. And this stuff was at the beginning of DBS. In the Broly Movie, Gogeta blue was literally able to shatter reality itself with his punches. And Gogeta is just Goku and Vegeta fused. So Goku literally is one half of a reality destroyer. And remember, Sonic, Shadow, and Silver's victory over Solaris wasn't a fight they won with pure strength, but by targeting Solaris' weak point, and then taking him out from the source. The gods in Dragon ball on top of being way more powerful than Sonic gods, don't really have exploitable weak points, so the argument that a lot of people make that "Well Sonic has beaten gods and Goku hasn't!" Doesn't really mean much. And for the cherry on top, Goku doesn't even need to use instant transmission to counter chaos control. Because Goku was able to phase through a time stop, by PUNCHING THROUGH IT. So yeah I don't think Goku needs SSGSS to defeat Sonic or Shadow. At the absolute MOST, and I mean FULLY High-balling here.
