Hey Agad, just wanted to tell you that watching your videos is one of the best piece of entertainment I recieve throughout the day! I love watching your videos... Keep continue what you're doing. Also, requesting for a Vishy saga like Fabi. Thanks!
Fabi still has a shot. If Fabi locked himself in a room and studied chess, then his chances of winning will increase. But Fabi probably makes a good living from doing podcast videos. No harm there
100%, he’s the only player who was really able to push against Magnus in their world championship match. If it wasn’t decided by rapid Fabi could have won.
@@kosv9331he did very well against Magnus. They drew 12 times in the classical portion and Fabi had multiple games where he was pushing for the win. No one has ever done that before or since in a WC match against Magnus. Fabi did very well, until they played rapid
Have been hearing the double entendre in Bobby Fisher's famous quote 'One day you give your opponent a lesson, the next day he gives you one' for so many years, and today Agadmator @11:41 says it like that was the main meaning! I'm rolling on the floor laughing, oh dear. Help me somebody, oh the pain, I'm dying! hahahahahaha Love the channel as ever of course.
What annoyed me was that Magnus was praising Fabi until round 4-5 but in round 6 he suddenly decides to say that the games are not that impressive and down plays this historical performance in a dishonoring way
I like how much sense you talk about the strength of tournaments and so on. I do wonder if there might be a stronger one though if rating inflation and deflation were taken into account but I don't know if they can be accurately calculated. Maybe not but it's a thought
What about total number of moves as an alternative measure of the strongest tournament ever played? - where a 100 move slugfest is considered a stronger game than a miniature.
"An uncle move." is funny to me because, in America, if, for example, I'm tickling my son, he says, "Uncle!" to let you know to stop. It's a cultural thing
Saying MVL is down a whole rook but has some passed pawn chances is REALLY looking for a silver lining in the position. You probably could've given Fabi rook odds in this tournament and he still would've defeated most of his opponents.
That Q move by white is awfully suspicious. It's no mystery that Fabi is getting out of the chess world - so i think theyre throwing this tournament for him as a kind of curtesy send-off. Chess players are real gents.
Engine rating strength is a bit botched. Lets say you have bad middle game 80% accuracy but the game stretched to extended end game it would end up 90-95% accuracy, while if the game ends in middle game you would have 80% accuracy.
@@Flashyfinancier engine average up your move strength. Opening and end game is almost every move is best move, while middle game engine consider only 1-3 moves to be best. And when you have long opening theory or stretched end game, your accuracy will shot up. Another example : A bunch of 2400 GM playing book moves and draw all the game after 10-20 moves would end up 90-100% accuracy tournament.
Black captures rook with rook and after queen captures white has to move away from the defence of the pawn to capture the black queen and the opponent up a full rook.
@@miguelcanoe6774 Perhaps I should've said "audio" rather than "voice" but I doubt anyone would perceive that as an insult when I am clearly helping the quality of the channel and therefore the brand. In fact I mentioned in an earlier video the other day that his mic was a tad hot and nothing changed, hence the increase in "energy" of this particular comment. In any event, thank you for the observation. It's a great channel.
If you take a look back at all of the games Antonio has covered you will notice that for many of the great players he has created what we call a “saga”, or a deeper look into one persons play. Right now he is doing that for Fabi. Please look into the Morphy saga, the Fisher saga, the Capablanca saga, etc. you will see a pattern of exposition not of ,ah, glazing. He has created quite a cannon of great players and their games in one place for us to enjoy or study. Try look and see.
