This may explain why high-dose biotin causes "oxalate dumping" symptoms in some people but not others. Written and referenced version: chrismasterjoh... Mitochondrial Energy Summit: drtalks.com/mi... My MTHFR Protocol: chrismasterjoh...
Bearing in mind that the sensitivity to oxalates is merely an "effect" rather the "cause", please look into the case studies, linking parasite infection/candida overgrowth and oxalate sensitivity. As for mitochondrial concerns, parasitic infection (particularly Lyme Disease) appears to be strongly correlated as well.
I just realized, based on this, that megadosed biotin could therefore produce a folate deficiency if it's ramping up the formylation of THF without enough THF to keep the process going. Hmm....🤔
@@chrismasterjohndoes the body breakdown Glycerin/Glycerol? I "believe" that I had a systemic reaction to the Glycerin/Glycerol in TWO different brands (who knows if the original manufacturer was the same though) of sublingual B-12 supplement... It was like a flu with diarrhea and nausea full body fever and aches and pains... Could be oxalates right? But my mom also took the same sublingual B-12 supplement AND had worse reaction and was even hospitalized for Black diarrhea that also had some lower intestine bleeding. we took a break from it and tried again with a second brand TWO MONTHS LATER and again after a couple of weeks the same result occurred..AND my mom was in the hospital again for even worse of the same symptoms... !!!! ???? I am seriously aware that *suppositories* have Glycerin/Glycerol as the main ingredient... ALSO, after this experience I noticed that I was STILL having a slight fever / similar but low grade feeling and happened to look at supplement bottle and realized that ALL the fat soluble vitamins I was taking had Glycerin/Glycerol in them and stopped ALL supplements, eventually took a bunch of pure amino Acids massive improvement... and went raw Carnivore about six months later (November) huge leap forward, then Raw Lion diet since January...even better... I have Achlorhydria (likely Pernicious Anemia) so I WANT to take B-12 but can't find a sublingual without Glycerin/Glycerol... I have found a source of pure powdered B-12 ...does holding under the tongue work or does it have to be dissolved in something special? I do NOT care about taste. I just want to find a way to rule out Glycerin/Glycerol VERSUS the reactions we both had being oxalates... I would LOVE to get better health for my self, but if I can find a way to sort this out with more certainty THEN I could help my mom have a MUCH better quality of life AND NOT suffer from oxalate dumping (if that's what it was) ~~ she still takes the fat soluble vitamins, but I doubt that she would notice any real difference as she is NOT very in tune with her body/health .... Any thoughts or suggestions?
@@chrismasterjohnI also quit ALL other supplements because of the microcrystalline cellulose/ vegetable cellulose... As I seem to have an issue when I take anything with that kind of stuff...
I've been dumping oxalates crystals through my skin for 3 years now. Antibiotics for bartonella/lyme made it much less frequent, but it starts up again with b1 or biotin. Thank you for your work on this interesting topic.
I feel really confused. I wish you could sum it all up at the end in a simple way. I have severe bladder oxalate issues. I take folate and biotin and have had no issues at all. And I can have a debilitating flare simply from drinking green tea. I’m extremely sensitive.
For years, I complained to my 5 doctors about B12 deficiency symptoms. During that time, I injected B12 and my B12 and Folate always tested normal. Common patern, turned out to be functional B12 deficiency due to unmetablized Foic Acid and poor methylation. Now, I have been experiencing Biotin deficiency symptoms and my Biotin levels test normal. I was already supplementing with 30mg/day. Some of my "gout-like" symptoms, I attributed to poor sulfur metabolism but maybe they are oxalate in nature. I'm not going to reduce my Bition. Instead, I'm going all in and raising the amount significantly, with the idea that I have some defect that requires higher serum levels than the average person. I already supplement with 5-methylfolate (400mcg/day). Maybe I will increaes the dosage.
Did you check functional b12 markers such as holotranscobalamin (HoloTC) and methylmalonic acid (MMA)? Also functional markers of riboflavin (B2) could show a lot of things. Lifelong B12 deficiency symptoms and severe paradoxical folate deficiency. My symtomps correlates with DHFR deficiency and MTRR deficiency -articles says severe eye tics from childhood which is funny because even I had this. The problem I currently have is I cant have a "methylation startup". Back then different forms of cobalamins started this and "snytetic folic acid" always stopped this while causing fevers. Some kind of hyper-Sam situation also seem to be happening -which might explain worsening in anemic symtomps with betaine or simply methyl donors. Sometimes serum cobalamin levels mean nothing so an organic acid test might show where is the problem.
@@scgf520 I have DHFR, MTHFR, MTR, MTRR and NAMPT SNPs. I've been successfully hacking these SNPs for almost 3 years. I went from obese to less than 9% bodyfat. I was even asked to compete in Men's Classic Physique by our gym's trainer who competes herself. The symptoms that I'm dealing with now, are different and probably exasserbated by the level of training that I endure. I also, recently learned that I have a homozygous SNP of the Sodium Dependent Multivitamin Transporter.
Because of worsening symptoms, my rheumatologist prescribed Doxycycline for it's anti inflammatory effects, 5 weeks ago. I just realized that this can be contributing to my Biotin status, due to effects on gut flora. Bursting blood vessels in my lower legs and mouth sores now have me thinking that I'm going to stop the Doxy.
In your vitamins and minerals 101 cliff notes, you say folate helps with clearance of histamine, but every source I’ve found says folate increases histamine. Can you explain?
What's your stance on vitamin B1? (And any various forms of it) Is there really a B1 deficiency pandemic underlying lots of metabolic syndromes the way that EONutrition makes out to be?
Great work Chris! Thank you! Would this information presented pertain to the condition of Calcium Pyrophosphate Dihydrate deposition of crysrals into articular spaces as in Chondrocalcinosis? Thank you in advance Chris!
when i take too much biotin over a few days, the skin on the back of my hands gets crazy rough and there's raised maybe a bit reddened bumps here and there kinda like hives? and the top of some of them breaks and bleeds. i stop biotin supplementation, it goes away. idk if that's oxalate but i never supplement biotin anymore, figured my gut biome must make enough of it or something
@@chrismasterjohn they do have something on biotin as well, but they are all incomplete. The one with the urea cycle was at least partially relevant and was meant as an example. Where does one find a proper map? I can't follow what you're saying.
And the question is are endogenous or exogenous oxalates the problem? Is there a problem in your metabolism that creates too many oxalates or does your microbiom produce too many? Or has your food too many oxalates? Presumably it is either way advantageous to reduce oxalate intake and have bacteria that reduce oxalates effectively.. 👍
