Can Bazball beat India? (Preview) 

As an Englishman myself: If Bairstow takes gloves more than once and Foakes is fit I am done with the bs. When Foakes bats I know for a fact he will get me at least 20 odd. And that might be off 50 balls but at the end of the day I want to see England win Test Matches and Series even if it is with a Sibley Burns type batting. The problem with Bairstow is that he has these few brilliant innings where smashes the opposition. But so many times in the Ashes he has just been stupid and threw his wicket away. When Foakes comes to the crease I know that he will calm the game down and take on some pressure. He is our anchor when we need him. All in all we will lose at least one Test match because we go all swing swing without any sense but wont learn from it. P.S. Great Video as usual

Good point about the Indian batting, I think they can be sus under pressure and not as good against spin as they used to be, but their monstrous bowling attack more often than not makes up for it, we saw that in the WC where they only conceded 300+ runs just once. England have to put runs on the board and lots of it to have any chance.

I remember in 2017, when Cook used to captain English side, they had a better team that time. Stokes used to bowl, Moain Ali and Adil Rashid was there along with Anderson and Broad. The pitches were great to bat on(there were individual scores like 300 and 200). But do you know what's the result of 5 match series? It's 4-0 India.

It's going to be a fascinating contest. Both countries have taken a hit recently morale-wise, so it's a pretty even field there, but we all know India are nigh on impossible to beat at home and England don't play that well away, and their spin game is definitely weaker. There's a limit to how many times Stokes can bail them out, and I fancy that limit is going to be reached. On paper India should win, but as we saw last year the scripts are meaningless when it comes to the crunch. it's India's series to lose, if they keep their heads they should win.

Indian Fast Bowlers and Spinners are absolute beasts when it comes to control and containing runs. Don't see the Poms doing too well. Jadeja/Ashwin/Shami/Axar/Bumrah just dont give anything away anything. Add the crowd support and not so pleasant weather - unlikely England can win even a single test. When it comes to batting - the pom batters are woefully out of form vs the indian batters who are simply a cut above (Kohli, Rohit obviously but Iyer, Rahul, Jaiswal, Gill are exciting talents who can take the game away in two overs). I personally feel itll be a boring series with the poms getting annihilated. Hoping for a good contest but seems unlikely. Hoping also Mr. Stokes can survive a test without a niggle...

As an Aussie, England are kidding themselves if they play Bairstow over Foakes they are dreaming. Foakes is a far better keeper, as you said, and in general his average is just below with the bat, but much better in Asia

I must say that the Australian perspective to pitches kinda show why they are so good. Its the fact that they adapt. During when the Aussies were in India last time., they lost, but they looked to adapt and learn and play. The English in this regard are a bunch of has beens. The english media is already whining about pitches since a week and there is still another one to go before the first ball is bowled.

Why is so much being talked about Indian pitches ?? 3 of the 5 tests are in Hyderabad , Rajkot and Dharmashala - venues where you get decent pitches and it does only turn on day 4 . Dharamshala is an ideal place for England to win. I even expect vizag to provide a good pitch .

I really don't understand why Indian Pitches are being talked about so much? I do understand India has spin-friendly pitches and the matches usually ends in 3 days...And then everyone starts pointing out that India has doctored pitches to suit their team's lineup, but then if the same happens in Australia/South Africa then no one says anything about the pitch, but if same happens in India, we all now what allegations are put on India's team and BCCI...Really I guess everyone should just shut their mouth when they come to India to play....

I have gathered a couple of points from the video and would like to see any counterpoints if there are any. Firstly, bazball or whatever it is still called is positive intent still, and at times too positive but what I see it as is that the wickets are going to deteriorate. Yes, bazball can be used in a way to make the bowl old but will make the lives of the England batsman harder as longevity is important, and a player who can sit on the ball to make the effectiveness for the same. Secondly, yes I understand England are getting a tower of men to not only bounce but spin India out but here is where as a cricket follower where is I have seen a little cricket for like the entire part of my life, knows that the reason why a leach is effective, a Joe Root was effective is because they have low bowling actions and can attack under the bat and around the 'square' and make it smaller, but again I am seeing it from the perspective of not seeing how accurate they are going to be in these conditions but it could be a revelation and can be like a Axar who has a more round-arm action to come lower and straighter.

India have beaten England on spicy pitches of india and swingy pitches of England. And with 1.3 billion people expectations and pressure. So no doubts there who the better team has been. But i would be interested to see how bazball approach goes this time 😁

I'm torn, I don't really like either side, but I think bazball is a bit of a flash in the pan and will only work in favourable conditions. If the pitch is low and flat bazball wins, anything outside of that it starts to crumble. And England were lucky to come away with a drawn series in my mind with Lyon being injured in the 2nd, I think had he remained fit for the whole series they would have lost either the 3rd or 5th test, maybe both. Of course I am speculating here, it could have gone ewither way, but my point is, bazball is really only effective in favourable conditions and I don't think they will succeed in India if they provide heavy spinning wickets. Given that, I really have a dislike for the BCCI and their bullying ways, so India losing at home would also be a bonus, but then you'd never hear the end of it from the poms.

The one thing I can say is each team is strong at home, and even drawing is a huge task for each team away, and currently no team is strong away, and India been decent overseas and strong at home, India always struggled at new Zealand and south Africa that's because, In new Zealand it's all about playing the senario everytime they go their, as for south Africa it's not swing that trouble them it's the uneven bounce combined with swing that troubles them, they been decent in England by the fact of 2-2 last time and they been bad before, Australia three series win on the trot, the core team is still retained even now, yes India have removed Pujara and Rahanae but added kl rahul to the squad, and you expect Rishabh pant to come back in the future. So India is not a bad team as projected. Irrespective of the conditions the better team that bat's well will win the series. As for this series the batsman who struggled overseas are expected to play decent here, shreyas Iyer plays spin well, then you have the long lower order of Ashwin, jadeja and axar if included, the pitches will be slow turner's and not rank turner's. So the bazeball might work, if england can survive then India can too in a slow turner as you are not chasing time as in the wc final, remember in the wc yes it was a slow turner where the pitch changed in the night, yes in India slow turners or rank turner's plays well in thr night

India came back from 1 - 0 down to drew the series against South Africa 1 - 1 . The first test had a pitch which had a good quality , but the second test pitch was such a mess .
