Blame the whole marketing strategy of Kpop, they encourage shipping & it is them that sexualise the relationship of idols, that lead to fan fiction, plus the other strategy of selling them as "boyfriends" and not allowing them to date, it is literally creating and a obsessive fan culture, where fans think they have a right to dictate what the artist and other fans can or can not do.

I think the author is well aware of what she is doing. The fact that her work can potentially bring harm to a real person and she is okay with that already tells you what kind of a person she is. I believe one gets what one gives out. Let fate handle this. Meanwhile let us support and pray always for the well being of our bangtan men, specially for the one being unfairly targeted. That's just my opinion.

It's not one but many out there write fan fics literally 18+ which is disgusting because when you write something you need to imagine it and imagining your idol in such way and saying its just for entertainment when we know that while reading something not everyone can be so practical definitely they will imagine stuff I am not saying I'm against fanfic but I'm against 18+ explicit fan fics involving yourself with idol to satisfy those shits shouldn't be supported... Comedy ff, family ff ,friends ff, romance without 18+ ff is ok but 18+ is extremely ddisappointing because there should line between idol and Boyfriend Husband etc we sometimes can't even imagine some stuffs with boyfriend ,husband too that much explicit content they will write..... It's just not great Idea and every fandom should understand this that not everyone who reads ff are strong enough to not to imagine it's basically sexual harassment that's it I said wwhatI said if an individual in society see anyone and imagine those stuffs with them it's harassment and this is too.

The assumption is that all readers can distinguish between what is real and what is imagined. All readers aren't mentally sound or healthy, so they act on the fiction rather than accept the reality. This is where fan fiction can become a bit dangerous. Fan fiction based on real life persons has to be more careful it doesn’t negatively impact the real person's life. I believe that citing artistic freedom or business freedoms doesn’t protect us from our responsibility to each other as human beings.
@sherb9841

How is that different from television, tv, or video games? There is always a chance someone crazy will be unable to distinguish between reality and fiction. That doesn’t mean no one is ever allowed to make a movie about a serial killer again.

I both agree with you and agree with @sherb. Creators should be mindful to ensure that their products centering real life fantasies are projected as being fantasies, but there is just so much creators can reasonably do. Beyond that, it shouldn't be on the creators, and it shouldn't lead to a ban on smt if some in the audience are not using reasonable discretion abt their product.

There's a very simple way to check whether fanfiction (especially the sexualizing ones) is a good or bad thing: replace the names with the names of your boyfriend, partner, parents and your own. And then you see if it's "uncomfortable". Taehyung', JK's or Jimin's mother probably also have an opinion on the topic!

Using BTS as base and excuse to write any fiction is simply parasitising on BTS and making money for your pocket . If you believe you are a writer and you are inspired by BTS ,use that inspiration and use other names but BTS guys names . Otherwise you have a mental issue to be resolved

I will always be grateful that people like you are using your voice and influence to bring knowledge about these issues. There are many people in this fandom who have allowed themselves to be influenced by false narratives, such as the relationships of the members with each other, with the company, about their careers and personal lives. All based on theories and assumptions to fill part of the information that is not revealed to the public, attracting so many hateful comments to real people. These people need to pay more attention to what they say online because this can cause terrible consequences for the safety and mental health of our boys. The sad part is her "fiction" is causing a lot of hate towards Jimin. I learned about the book on twitter or RU-vid shorts. I have no interest in reading it. Supposedly she is using BTS to promote it and also is known to have written it based on them . I did see an illustration & there is no denying it is meant to be BTS members in her story. She apoligized and said she changed their names but by now it is causing harm to members.

It's not uncommon for fanfiction writers to start publishing their works, but when they do, the first thing they do is usually to distance themselves from their fanfiction for obvious legal reasons. Changing names is all well and good, but what struck me with this author is that she still had the original fanfiction up, refused to delete it, and was promoting her book through a taekook hashtag, clearly using BTS's popularity for her own promotion. That's what struck me most about this case. I couldn't believe how brazen she was. The issue of her feeding into the hate Jimin already receives from her target audience is another issue, but I'm not sure what, if anything, can be done about that.

I honestly think fanfiction is fine it can get legally dicey trying to publish and monetize anything based off an existing IP, this has been a huge talking point in the fanfic space for awhile now and I personally believe the author didn’t do her due diligence enough to separate her stories from the actual people she based it off of putting herself at legal risk. The biggest problem I really have is that a huge amount of people in this fandom that are taekook shippers truly believe these 2 members are in a relationship and have had hate campaigns for years against Jimin that has been so normalized for what they believe is him actively trying to get in between them as a couple which is a very harmful and dangerous mindset to keep feeding into without any checks in place. You saw what they did when it was announced that Jk and Jimin were going to enlist with the buddy system trying to contact the SK government to out Jimin as gay and a danger to be around, absolutely vile behavior. Saying everything he does is disingenuous and for FS, I’m honestly so sick of it and no one ever truly calls them out on it.

In Chile there is also an author who published her taekook fanfiction as a book. I would never read it, but I know what it's about and I think it's absolutely unethical for someone to make money using their names like that, and I believe that definitely Big Hit should sue them. Most shippers truly believe their fantasies and don't realise how this harms real people. It is disgusting. And I say it because I'm a reader and a writer who's curious about all genres, so I have tried to read BTS and other kinds of fanfictions and they are always disgusting, I don't have the stomach to read past a few lines. It is pure expression of personal issues and they should be ashamed to even publish on wattpad or even say those things outloud.

I've been in fandom for over 23years. Back when FF was just starting to get a foothold online. Up until then it only existed in fanzines and letters that were passed around. Shipping itself is harmless. It is the action of some people forcing their preferences at others that is an issue. Or their anger directed at someone else when they cannot control those around them to do or think the same as they do. This isn't about FF or peoples preferences in FF. It is about one person who had the power to ask that the one part of that fandom not attack any members, but chose not to do that. It is about that same one person who lied to fill their own pockets. And in doing so caused a deluge of hate comments aimed towards JM The person who wrote that book stated that the book had no link to BTS once published and yet they used BTS and BTS sub units names tags plus BTS members images to promote it- proving that to be a lie. They said they would delete all hate but only deleted hate directed at themselves and zero hate directed at JM and even incited the hate themselves towards JM through the books contents. People did not call for them to be reported to hybe lightly. Nor out of some fandom war but because of the deluge of hate and the fact this person lied and was filling their pockets using BTS to do so.

For me who is a avid fanfic reader myself.....I dont have an issue with shipping....as long its kept within fandom spaces and dont forcibly pushed onto those as facts in real life into their faces....ship all you want..... For me...I see BTS members as bros and cringe to even think of them as anything else...but hey if any of them were to be....thats private and also their business.....and who does think like that and ship seriously or for fun..its within their rights as persons with their own opinions... If other fans hates these fanfics and shipping....just stay away from them....that is why TW tags exist😅....Not because I dont like intimate fanfic about the group I stan doesnt mean others wont...I wont ruin their fun...lol And some fans seems to foget these are fanfics....fake...not real.....fictional content....hell it can be even a BTS group or member from an alternate universe....but I draw the line of using their IPs in such fictional content for monetary gains.....now the writer could be crossing questionable and legal waters if they go that far....

In my opinion it is not wrong to write fanfiction as long as it stays within the fanfiction space. Its a manner of expression, sharing your feelings and gaining joy and therapy, finding similar minded persons like you. The moment you publish it, you are crossing a boundary. Its not about joy or expressing anymore, it is about money. If using someone picture, song, music, logo etc. to make money without their permission is called plagiarizing, then using their identity in this manner is also plagiarizing!!!

I don't understand how you can call yourself an ARMY if you are shipping members together when they have said many times that they do not like it and it's not true. It's not just your opinion when you write it for public consumption. It's just plain wrong. I will say it's different if the ones you are shipping are ok with you doing that.. I know of some YT'ers that are fine with it and find it rather hilarious but when the person(s) say no then it's morally wrong.

I read a lot of fanfiction, in fact I found BTS through fanfiction. After reading several hundreds stories, I caved and looked them up on youtube. Down I fell... I'm also a beginner writer, and have written fan fiction for a coulpe of fictive shows and movies, and I find it harder to write about BTS. The need to be more respectfull since they are real combined with my way of writing makes it harder, but I won't budge on respecting them as real people. But I have to admit this is the first time I have considered how my fictional stories can influence the readers of them. With me being as old as I am, it didn't even crossed my mind that some people could take them as factual.. Releasing a popular fan fiction story after only changing the names, and then hashtag the members to attract the delulu shippers shows how little respect she has for BTS. But how much responibility does we as writers have towards the readers? Are we responsible for them not knowing the difference between fiction and real life? Delulu shippers will always find something that "proves" their "thruth"

Like you, I came to BTS through the fanfic route. One specific story, "Killer Cruise" got me curious about these 7 guys. I wanted to see how closely the personalities portrayed matched the actual people. Plus, there were moments where I thought "that feels like an in-joke, but I don't get it". And I got curious I am now 16 chapters into my third read of it. And there was still an "Ahhh... I get that now" moment. All that said - there is fan fiction out there I won't touch with a ten foot barge pole.

While there has always been some shipping during my 10+ years as ARMY... it has never generated the kind of sick and hateful talk that it does now. It’s a way of using the celebrities that you say that you are a fan of. These are people with real lives in which these stories can cause real life problems and situations. I have only read fanfic about fictional characters- after all they don’t have real lives that can be affected negatively by anything written.

I liken fan fiction to the hundreds of thousands of shorts on Instagram or RU-vid, that create shipping or fictional videos about BTS. I often come across them and it's easy to get sucked down those rabbit holes. When I first became aware of BTS and their music I would click on whatever came up and it wasn't helpful. The problem is not fanfics but the shipping. I'm not into fanfics, but I'm fine with using others as inspiration. But even the fanfic writers I have come across mostly consider shipping real people without their explicit consent as unethical too. BTS members have always said they are brothers. It's disrespectful to ship them. People forget that these things can possibly be incredibly violating for someone. Some people might be going through something, and this can be an outlet for them. But the least they should do is limit it to places like AO3, Wattpad and Deviantart where celebrities can avoid it if they don't want to see it. It is now out in the public in places like YT and X where anyone can come across it. Some people even push it onto the members offline and in places like Weverse. It has gotten to the point where shippers are harassing their family members over delusional narratives. It's not fun and games any more. Even though this author has changed the names for her own protection, she is apparently using the members for promoting it, encouraging people to read it as a fanfic of that ship with the villianization of another member and even signing books in that vein. In SK, I think this would a violation of the artist's image rights that BTS themselves fought for and set a precedent for. I don't know about the law in France (I think that's where the author is from) and these things differ from place to place, but it is very disrespectful to say the least. Even something like FSoG made it on its own because of the smut. Most people in the general public didn't even know that it started out as a Twilight fanfic. The people consuming this particular book seem to be almost exclusively shippers.

As others have stated fan fiction is that Fiction, it is not there to teach morals, nor right from wrong, it afterall a product of the persons imagination (some people may have questionsable imaginations but in the end it is the authors choice) as a reader/consumer you can either choose to read, like or dislike that choice is yours but the legal disclaimer put at the front stating that the characters have no relationship to the idol, would make it impossible from a legal stand point to take futher action. Where they can sue would be in those instances where people claim something to be fact or true, such as edited photos that claimed to be real, such as those of Jennie & Taehyung where it was stated they are real and proof of a relationship. In istances like that legal action can & has been taken. I think we also have to remember that Yoongi admitted that he used to write fan fiction, it is not to be taken seriously, but as entertainment. Some fans are really too "precious" & honestly need to relax.

This is not specific to fan fiction but I think it should be said: I have seen some great things since becoming a KPOP fan, some very inspiring acts/actions that make me believe in human good, but I've also been shocked (as an elderly person) at the degree of hate and pathology and condemnation that I've witnessed in fan culture at the same time. It falls to the person, or family and friends of people who have strong pathologies to intervene before tragedies happen. From across the world I can't do anything. But someone standing right next to a person can make a difference. Focusing on making global changes in an effort to cover the world with a safe space blanket for all, will not work, it is pie in the sky. Pathologies exist in localities, for example bullying in schools or domestic violence, for the most part that is where interventions must start. Having mental or moral problems doesn't mean nothing can be done. Reach out for help for yourself. Reach out for help for a friend, or a sibling, as a parent or whoever you are. Having mental health issues is not an excuse for self destructive or heinous acts. You can get better.

Even tho I'm not into rps (or even rpf), I do actually see shipping as a healthy way to explore one's own sexuality and preferences. I would just also say there are lines you cannot cross with it. Ppl should understand that the public figures they see are not ppl they actually know. Shipping is purely fantasy taken from one's own perspective and preferences. So, it is problematic when ppl treat ships as real or when shippers try to force shipping fantasies onto others. And taking advantage to benefit directly off using real ppl is just not smt I can condone either. Artistic freedom shouldn't shield ppl from taking advantage of others for a one-sided gain.

I remember when I was younger having a conversation with my mum about how gay men are perceived, you have straight men getting off to lesbian porn but will show disgust at gay men & I have seen exactly the same thing online when it comes to straight women & gay man porn. The world is certainly not free from homophobia but is filled with queer fetishism. I've seen posts say "so & so is not gay, only for so & so" or "I hope so & so isn't gay but if he is I only want him gay with so & so" Sexual fanfics are just a way to use BTS members for personal gratification & shipping fics are just a way for fetishist to say they support the community.

I am not sure I totally agree with your statement here. I think fanfic about celebrities can be dangerous because people will buy it and take it seriously. Even if people know it is actually fiction, those false scenarios can still skew how we see the real life person. That seed has been planted. Too many people take fiction as reality already, and adding fanfic to the mix just makes the situation worse. While I enjoyed hearing about your setup of your fanfic, I wouldn’t read it because I don’t want to be influenced in seeing our boys in a negative light.

I like writing (I have completed a novel, which is unpublished yet!) so I can understand the author's needs. Maybe an author sometimes uses real people to create a fiction story. But as a writer I believe that fanfiction is different: it's based on another fictional story/character. I can accept fanfiction about a real person who no longer exists if the story doesn't change his/her historical actions and beliefs. But I can't accept fanfiction about an artist who is alive, even if the story shows him/her as he/she is. Surely, anyone can write whatever he/she wants about a famous artist, especially if it shows him/her as a bad person (morally, socially, or sexually) ONLY TO KEEP IT UNSHOWED. Using artists' identities to release something different than the artist's reality and name it fanfiction to the public (even if it's a forum) shouts HATE AND HARM to the artist. Moreover, if this kind of fanfiction becomes a novel, it would spread HATE everywhere. And why? Just because someone says he/she is a fan of a music band? The definition of a fan is someone who loves and respects the artist he/she likes. Being a fan doesn't mean the band is a fan's doll to play with them as he/she likes. By definition, the author may not have the responsibility to be moral, but an author who wants to be respectful MUST BE MORAL. Moreover, if he/she calls himself/herself a fan of the artist whose identity he/she uses to create that "fanfiction". Lastly, I also am a passionate ARMY but, this kind of BTS shippers in sexual meaning, meh, not my cup of tea. And using the purpose of fanfiction as to spread hate, combining fiction with sexual harassment, it's simply DISGUSTING. Period.

A large number of fanfics have very disturbing explicit themes, stalking, violence, abuse, r*pe n murder. Especially the trend that forcing a relationship on someone can make them fall in love in the end. Just reading the tags r frightening. I wonder if these themes bleed into the real life of the authors n the readers who love these types of works. It may be a way to let out pent-up feelings, practice the art of story-telling, but it may also give wrong ideas to susceptible people.

I have mixed feelings about BTS fanfics. I spend a lot of time on Wattpad (reading various kinds of stories) and have seen a LOT of BTS fanfics. Some are great - really fun, funny, interesting, exciting. Others I won't touch with a ten foot barge pole. And I don't go near stories where the members are shipped romantically or sexually. They just feel weird. In fact, I had been aware of BTS fanfics, before I really knew BTS. I knew who they were - but that was it. I even read some (some better than others), but I felt like I was missing a lot, because I didn't know who/and what they were talking about. Like overhearing an in depth conversation, held by strangers, about people you don't know. "Killer Cruise" was the book that changed everything for me. A funny, sweet, at times emotional, mystery set on a cruise ship; complete with slow build romance (no shipping, and nothing sexual), murders (again, not the members), mysterious disappearances, cute broken English, famous BTS in jokes 😆(that I got on my second read through, at the beginning of this year). It made me curious. Who are these guys that inspire so much love? Are their personalities anything like they are portrayed in "Killer Cruise"? (the answer is yes - especially given the situation😆). I wanted to know more. So I looked more into BTS - I already knew their names🤣. I saw a reaction to "On Kinetic Manifesto Film" and was blown away. I watched the MV over and over, then found "DNA". Then somehow (and only the algorithm knows how), I was brought to a reaction video of "Daechwita", in which the reactor admitted he had just discovered that Agust D was Suga of BTS. Again, I was blown away. The I found the MV for Agust D....oh man. I was not a fan of rap...But Yoongi... I'm still not overly fond of most rap, but BTS...They are something else. I then remembered I wanted to find out more about the guys (I was getting side tracked), and found an intro to BTS by Suga & Spice. And that was it. Two BTS MVs, Two Agust D MVs, one intro video, and I was making a nice cosy home down that rabbit hole - I never even considered looking for a way out 🤣 And all because of a Wattpad fanfiction - "Killer Cruise" by Ar040394. And yes, I am recommending it (sorry), but it's a good book; which I am currently reading for the third time. A book that changed my life by bringing me to BTS. And, I think, an example of fanfiction done well.

it´s crazy that someone find happiness in creating something hateful towards jimin because deep down they must know that jk and v loves jimin right? or are they lost from all sense of reason at this point? i am not sure i have never been down that road and never read any fan fic before, thankfully. but i am curious how that work. if they are aware that the magnae do love eachother and is just writing this for fun like you did with your book where jimin is a serial killer. than it´s fine as long as you dont use his name and people are aware that it is only based on the members in a fun way. idk if this author is a known hater of jimin, because if that is so, than she must be in the delulu stage, where it is no longer okay. because this will bring in haters like you say. this reminds me of how a cult is formed. you can´t convince people like that who is in it, that what they are beliving in a lie. and can get angry if you try and pull them out of that fantacy, and that is scary. it´s like a cult, they are cut of from the real world.

To me it's a case to case kind of thing. Sometimes, fanfiction can be a way for authors to write when they wanna "start" writing. However, what draws the line to me isn't the quality of the writing but the sexe side of the thing. To me, a fanfiction who clearly put an emphasis on sexes scenes isn't good. No matter the scenario, the writing if you're sexualizing reals person it's it... A fantasy... I know it can be hard to admit, but it is. But if the author can change the names without any problem.... I guess it's another scenario ? It's a really complicated topic lmao... There's many nuances but to me it's really a matter of sexualisation first. Its how I decide wheather an author has good intention or not. If you write about real person while sexualizing them AND you COULD change the names... It's... Weird. And... Maybe bad in a way. I dont know oh my god im so lost

Fan fiction in general is a trash bag with very few hidden gems. What makes the gems is the author's storywriting talent: the characterisation and evolution of characters, the nuances and thoughfulness put in tackling a delicate topic, the depth of understanding and the quality of the writing style. It is not related to whether the characters are nice or nasty, or if they are put through upsetting, sometimes shocking, plots, or to the presence of shipping, in the case of fanfiction based on real people. In BTS fanfiction, the members are a starting point, with their personalities and very often the themes they have themselves sung about or the issues they've supported, but they are not the characters who bear their names. When the author is honest and talented, any story is a tribute. There is however a slew of untalented writers, and some whose moral compass is so unrelated to mine that I find their stories unpalatable at best, deeply disturbing at worst. That is not to say that I want them censored - I just won't read them, but I do believe they are needed by those who write them. And I don't think even the best stories should be published - if it is about making money, it stops being a tribute and it becomes exploitative.

It is hard to hear of any group member being represented negatively. Real Person fan fiction has been going on forever. It is no big deal, it is imagination. Many people when they were younger imagined marrying their favorite singer or actor. Not much harm in it as long as people do realize it is NOT REAL. I do think we need to remember that some people can't separate fact from fiction. Is that the problem of a writer exercising imagination, or a reader conflating truth with imagination? I tend to think of the difference between fan and sasaeng as a good metric. The Extreme is not a good place to go. I also don't like graphic fan fiction. And as I said above, I don't like members being negatively depicted. I am glad this particular fiction was changed from fan fiction to pure fiction. I also find sexual shipping to be a turn off for me. Sexuality is a personal private matter based on individual preferences. That’s why printing a biased narrative depicting fictitious sexual events between real people can be problematic. Writing false statements about a person that causes harm or injury is libel, but the harmed person or party would need to file suit. In my humble opinion, fan fiction should be used to uplift the artists you favor not feed your desires. Let’s try humanizing BTS and walking in their shoes. I asked myself how would I feel if it was me being wrote about? Or a family member? I would be disturbed and very concerned for… 1. the solace of the artist (BTS) 2. For the mind of the writer 3. the minds of the readers.

It used to be that a romance novel was required to have 3 'sex scenes'. They didn't have to be explicit, per se. I wrote a trilogy years ago, but found those scenes tedious, so moved on to fantasy and light horror, but only had 1 from the 1st trilogy published, and 3 teen horror stories published online, before I had a near fatal stroke. Now, I have about 11 or 12 manuscripts that still need editing & 4 that still need to actually be finished, but I really don't know if I'll ever get back into writing again. The stroke kicked so many genetic disorders into gear, as well as leaving me with slightly damaged brain functions, all of which I've struggled to overcome as much as possible for the past 14 years, well... I keep thinking that I need to at least get all those manuscripts finished and edited, in case one of my kids wants to get them published some day. I used to love writing, but now, it seems to be all I can do to crochet for 20min or so. I suppose that, if the manuscripts are meant to be published, I'll be given the energy to at least get them to the proper point of readiness, but who knows. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

As a writer, I have never liked fan fiction. I find it lazy and also very much leechlike. Real writers spend hours, months, years, trying to create the personalities and descriptions of characters. When a writer of fan fiction uses another author's work, or uses actual real people, they are doing everything the easy way. While everyone has imagination, and everyone can fantasize about a character or a public person, we don't drag those public people or characters into books that fuel and flaunt our sexual fantasies. When the fanfiction is about a real person, I imagine the real person/idol would feel fetishized, used, and tainted. When fan-fic writers use real idols and add cruelty to their "character traits," they are muddying up the personality the idol is trying to show. For an artist to spend his life and art speaking one message and trying to get the various aspects of his soul on paper to suddenly have a whole set of people lusting over him and seeing him in a different way would be not only depressing but almost like seeing one's art and life erased. It's very cruel to "use" people for our own benefit and profit.

Real-person fanfiction is cringe and should not be normalized. You can write it and read it but it should stay where it deserves to stay regardless of quality-underground. It's cringe that this got so big that even BTS might've heard about it. Profiting from real-person fic is shameless; even if you change the names it doesn't change the fact people originally read it thanks to BTS' fame.

I don't think BTS and Big Hit are against stories using the members as the face and name of fictional characters in a story because the Bangtan Universe exists. And they had a mobile game developed, the BTS Universe Story app, where fans could write fan fiction and use the likenesses of the BTS members. I was a writer there of science fiction, fantasy and thriller genres, light on the romance. So I also don't think BTS and Big Hit have an issue with fan fiction using the members in concept. There were rules in the game that authors were not supposed to put the members in explicit situations or present them in romance ships with each other. These rules were not followed and the game was overwhelmed with these stories and we wonder if this was part of the reason that the app was closed. I would love if Hybe/Big Hit/ BTS would make some kind of official statement on where they stand on this issue. I would love to continue to make humorous and dramatic stories with them as characters, but I wouldn't want to do anything that would make them uncomfortable. I'd like to think they would enjoy the stories my friends and I have written if they saw them. But there are plenty of shippers who think the guys don't care or would even like it, so some clarity on the issue from them would be helpful. I'm guessing they feel they are better off ignoring it than shining a light on it and drawing attention to it.

I read a lot of stuff and I happen to like fiction and I've read some fan fiction and I have no problem with it. It would never occur to me to hate anybody that character is based off of. I do understand where you're coming from though. I do not want anything bad to happen to BTS whom I love or to anyone else for that matter. I honestly do not believe that an author of any type of book can be held responsible for how someone takes it. People have taken the Bible which is supposed to be something to help. People lead good lives and use it to commit horrible crimes. I'm not religious so that's not where I'm coming from. However, I wanted to pick a book that most people view to, a book of good. I honestly do not believe that there is a good answer for this. I worry about people who take things and turn it into hate. I think this is a very selfish and bad take... I normally enjoy your balanced take but it's extremely clear you are biased by you personal pleasure for fan fiction. Fanfiction mimics colonization in a lot of ways. The real people are puppets being controlled by someone with the power to create a narrative and publishing/editing rooms are not diverse spaces. These stories are akin to how history is written by the conquerors.

I would rather worry about the fans that thinks they own bts and that thinks dating is a scandal and having a life.

most are just online post so maybe it's harder, but the one she mentioned is published into books, sell, and use the member's name to promote it. now that's a problem

It would be really disturbing if certain fanfictions got forbidden. You're limiting someone's creative freedom that way. It's up to the readers to be able to separate reality and fiction. Jimin is my bias and I don't read any fanfiction that portrays him as a bad person. I don't like it, but I'm not going to forbid that author from writing him in any way she wants. Nor any other person. It's NOT REAL.

What is an Idol? A persona with an online or public persona? Isn't that what idol culture is; creating a persona? And isn't sexuality and shipping a part of that culture, supported both by the companies and the idols themselves? Isn't that what most entertainment boils down too? Couldn't Hybe kill all these ships if they wanted to? And if you look deeper into the phenomenon and history of boys love, you find a reaction to patriarchy. The author wrote a story, is that any different than other media profiting from BTS from clickbait, except she put actual work and creativity into it? Can you structure everything around not triggering the most unstable? Just look at American Politics. I keep seeing parallels between shipping wars and politics. Maybe it's just me.

Until the people who hate shipping do enough research to better understand it, they shouldn't think that they are the right ones. Personally, I love or dislike someone or something not because I have read fanfiction but because of their character, which makes me make a decision. Therefore, I believe that people who read fanfiction do not hate a member or a character bse of the ff; it is much more than that. Just like we never hate actors and actresses who are portrayed as villains because we know that it's acting. - Hybe makes content that inspires these writers; who are we to want to sue them. For example, Hybe released AYS, and in there, they have almost alienated one member, and that will depend on which side you are on: I think the reality of that content is what can make fans hate or love a member, not written fiction because we all know that the person is making up their own words(creatively and expressively); however, the content from hybe is the biggest route of *Toxicity.* - Can we endeavour to read fanfiction and then have an objective discussion about fanfiction writers? Not all villains stay as villains. In the end, they become good people. Btw, Hybe has its own Fanfiction page on Wattpad, and it has villains, too PS: Until we stop hybe from releasing such content, I think we are wasting our time trying to stop writers. Not only that, but some people will choose to be ignorant. I take some time to read scholarly material about various topics, and we need to learn more about shipping. Here are some interesting reads that I have taken some time to peruse through Sedlmeir, S., Schneider, I. and Chae, R., Love, Fantasy, and Profit: The Utilization of Shipping and Boys Love as. Lee, W., 2024. The Cambridge Companion to K-Pop. Kuo, L., Perez-Garcia, S., Burke, L., Yamasaki, V. and Le, T., 2022. No, this is YOU alienating the member. It's what YOU see or want to see for a specific reasons. Either that being 1) You do not know their dynamics well enough. 2) You are a TK shipper. 3) You are a solo. 4) You are not OT7. I have seen thousands of ARMY victimising Tae over pure banter & accusing the company of pushing a narrative, which is Jikook. I have watched all of BTS content & Jimin & JK are great friends, they went to Tokyo together in 2017, yes JK made his first GCF from it which was lovely but the trip itself should show you how close they are. The problem is, because many ARMY are indeed TK shippers will refute their friendship & blame the company for pushing a ship. Would the same be said if it was say Jin & Yoongi? NJ & Hobi? Yeh the shippers love it but get out of that shipping lane & just see it as 2 great friends taking a trip. The show & Vminkook is NOT the problem, it's people like you that are victimising Tae. He even said in the first episode he was in that that is how they are even off camera. I tease my friends, if a friend comes to my house I offer them tea & tell them to make it themselves, they say they're the guest so I should make it, I say, you're my mate & you can make tea yourself, it goes back & forth, it's bantering, it's teasing, it's playful. Ok maybe Tae was a little put out that he wasn't invited but Jimin told him that he was completely & utterly welcome with open arms & they all had a great time. If YOU have a problem with how they behave then you need to deal with that because the time Tae was there was full of laughter. It's also funny how ARMY are now blaming Jimin for mistreating Tae yet JK has said exactly the same things. They JOKED about Tae being a guest, ARMY TK shippers are taking Jimin saying that as malicious which is far from the truth yet Jimin is being called a bully, an abuser, a queerbaiter & I do not see the same ARMY refuting it.

@@OnlyForThem13@OnlyForThem13 So you refer to it as victimizing Tae from a show, yet you believe that fanfiction that is made up can victimize a member. You are the very people who can hate someone because of fanfiction. I didn't see any of you stop the other ship book that was being sold in 2022, which also had Tae as the villain. And I can't say that I believe in fanfiction - it is fanfiction, and it doesn't even make sense to believe in it since the writer is making up their assumed dynamics. Who tells you that the ff is what all members' relationships are truly like. Do we not live our lives? Do they run like fanfiction? *It is definitely you who makes it toxic* how can you presume that real life is lived like how fanfiction is written? You are the very people who have clouded the reality of the members by thinking that fanfiction is the truth. Even in the very content they show, we see very little of the 24-hour relationships they have with each other, and it is from there that I assume or presume what characters they have, and it doesn't matter whether you are a solo 0t7, 0t2/3/4/5/6; that where you should all decide from. What is also shown in Hybe content has it is own distortion. You can choose to like it or not- we can all remember in life no one is perfect. As I said, call out Hybe, which distorts the situation based on the pretext of content. Writers may be called to prove that they got consent. The toxicity in the fandom arises more from akgaes than shippers. You say that you do not know their dynamics very well, yet you want to believe that fanfiction is going to make them look bad. It is fanfiction, not an autobiography or biography of BTS. The fact will remain that a person is loved or disliked based on their characteristics, not on a scenario made up in fanfiction.

Firstly I have never once in my life read a fan fiction. It does not interest me in the slightest & I am not victimising or even suggesting Tae is a victim in the show, you, KTH's & tkrs are. Do you think Tae would ask to join this show if he was mistreated by JM or JK? The problem with Jimin being portrayed as a villain in a book by a tkr is that it is not fan fiction, it is reality. Jimin has always been the thorn in TK's relationship by the mouths of tkrs themselves. I have just logged on twitter & one of the first posts I see on a report account is from a tkr calling Jimin a villain. Jimin is an abuser, a s3xual predator, a bully, violent, a p3do, harasser, all coming from not just tkrs but also solo akgaes & other fandoms. January 2023 tkrs trended that Jimin is a p3do, tkrs in 2020/2021 took to Weverse to demand Jimin leave TK alone & to leave BTS along with many d3ath threats. Jimin's first d3ath threat was from a TK shipper. TK RU-vid channels have convinced millions that Jimin is king of queerbaiting fan service. Jimin is the real life villain in JK & Tae's life not just in fan fictions. I did not say I didn't know their dynamics because I do know to a degree, we only know so much of their dynamics because we are not privy to their personal lives but from what we do get to see is that they all get along like family, families bicker, they tease, they play, they fight but they still love each other. If you see their playfulness as being toxic then maybe you should stop supporting BTS or stop shipping them because it's you that is offended, not them. You don't like what you see but they seem to be perfectly fine with their playful banter. It's definitely a you problem. Tae is a grown man, not a baby & Tae akgaes/TK shippers wanted & expected Tae to be babied which he wasn't. He was treated the same way as Jimin & JK treat each other. It's not anyone's fault but yours if you see their playfulness & banter as being a victim of some kind of bullying. As for this book you speak of, I have no idea about it. I wasn't very active in 2022 due to personal/professional purposes. As for Hybe distorting content? What do you mean? Do you mean Jimin & JK or Vminkook dynamic? Jimin & JK's friendship has nothing to do with the company, the company if anything did use them for profit but if Jimin & JK were ok with taking a trip & having it filmed then thats their choice. It was made for those that genuinely love them but if you see something you don't want to see, again thats a you problem. They have been exactly how they are through all of their content, close. If you're reading something more than friendship & you don't like it then again thats a you problem. I see nothing but 2 great friends having fun. As for Vminkook, they tease each other all the time, Jimin & JK tease each other, Jimin & Tae tease each other, Tae & JK tease each other but it seems to only be a problem when it's Jimin teasing. Weird.

It's a bit moronic to sue somebody for writing fanfiction. Even if the fanfiction is considered Superior to its Canon source material.

Not when one of the characters is being portrayed as violent when he is already portrayed as violent in the shipping world. The author based a fiction using traits given to members by shippers, Jimin is a bully, violent is how they view Jimin.

There is wayyyy too much mental health issues in our world and the slightest push can tip a hater over the edge where they act on that hate on their target...this target already receives so much hate already...it's very disgusting and vile to get paid and gain popularity from someones misery! Let's see if Karma will work her magic....🪄💜🇺🇸

I’m rooting for a sequel where Jimin is a Superhero who dominates Billboard, breaks records in music, gets Platinum Player award, breaks Guinness records, has a world wide month long birthday celebration. And maybe gets the girl (or guy). And lives happily ever after.
