I would disagree with Twain. This is just my opinion obviously, but I think the 'best cure for Christianity' is Christians. This is coming from a Christian. People will be people, so i don't think the validity of the bible is either well supported or dispelled by the fact that people misuse it or they hate it and will have none of it.
You do need comprehension skills though, and you need to be honest with yourself. Too many religious people are way too gone. Augustus used the "good old days" argument in support of his rise to being emperor of Rome. Literally, his argument can be summed up as "I will take us back to a time when men were men, women were women, and Romans were Romans."
Rome changed religions which changed the cultural mentality of the Empire. Also, the Western half of the empire was marred by incompetent emperors, depopulation, and losses of tax base due to wars and invasions by Germanic tribes. If anything, the Eastern Roman Empire melded Christianity better than the Western Roman Empire did.

Martin Mowbray Well, Under Mao the country was fanatically devoted to one man and his teachings. As time wore on, the party became less radical and more focused on simply maintaining power. When he was alive, the people of China believed Mao was a god. After his death, they started viewing him as more of a founding father type figure. About Poland. It claims its more religious than in reality is. Sometimes claims it is more than 90% of Christians, and this is just not true. I think Futurama sums up religious fanatics quite well with the line "I chose to believe what I was programmed to believe!" I know myself well enough now that I am in my 30s, to admit that I am a very easily persuaded person. If I had grown up in a Christian family, I would likely have ended up hardcore Christian, unable to break out of that mentality and mindset. I think that holds true for many, if not all hardcore religious people. They have been hard-coded into this by their parents, who were hard-coded by their parents, for many many generations. I have never in my entire life met a person who grew up in an atheist home, yet turned hardcore religious later in life.

I grew up in a small very, very red town of 2,500 people during the Cold War days of 60's and 70's and my stepmother happened to be Russian which was something not easily tolerated in town. As my brothers and I attended primary school K-4, we would regularly get beat up at school, I assume due to what kids heard their parents say, and because of our religion, we were not allowed to fight back, and therefore it continued until I went to a different primary school across town for one year. Also, because our religion didn't allow saluting the flag, a practice done every morning (do they still do that?), celebration of ANY holiday, even your birthday, it was yet more reasons to be bullied. As we came from an extremely violent household, getting beat up by school age kids was easy to take compared with what we had to learn to deal with at home from my parents. I have done my fair share of volunteering at non-religious abused children centers and children and adults can be the cruelest to those least able to defend themselves. Thanks for your video on this subject. Your videos are always timeless and anyone can tell you care about what you talk about, we need more of that in this world.

As for why Hitler was attacked by France and Britain, they recognized that he intended to invade France next. Germany and France had been fighting for centuries over Alsace and Lorraine, with France having gained the territories at Versailles. And as for Germany's supposed poor treatment at Versailles, yes it was cruel by the standards of the modern day, but for the time it occurred, that was par for the course. The Treaty of Versailles wasn't nearly as harsh as, say, the Treaty of Brest Litovsk, in which Russia ceded vast amounts of territory to Germany during that same war. And while Germany did suffer under the Treaty of Versailles at first, the war debts had been mostly paid off before Hitler rose to power, and Germany had even enjoyed a period of prosperity before the Great Depression hit. Were it not for the Depression, the Nazis likely would have remained an obscure third party.

They are shown as enemy to society, and the party says that only them can save us In Białystok about month or two ago was an LGBT parade. A local bishop first called everyone to "stop this heresy". Then adult mans at the day of parade attacked it. Even young girls were beaten, and boys chased. "WYPIERDALAĆ, ZAKAZ PEDAŁOWANIA" were common words. They mean "FUCK OFF", and "OVER WITH BIKING/BIKING IS NOT ALLOWED" - where biking is offensive way to say "having an homosexual sex as an man". "Pedał" (biker) is an offensive way to call someone as gay. In the same city, the same day, there was an picnic organised by ruling party - Prawo i Sprawiedliwość (Law and Justice). And that was an "LGBT free zone", where no-one seen at the parade wasn't allowed to be. After all of this, local bishop thanked everyone for "fighting in defense of Christianity and family values". In my own house, at the oposite side of our country, I am not allowed to say anything atheistic. It's only a little fragment of our daily life. PiS (LaJ) party made about five "ideologies" that are "dangerous to the society, Christians and family values". These are atheistic, leftie, "rainbow",LGBT, gender, "western", "eastern", homo - propaganda/ideology, and there are even more. Church here says, that "rise of atheism in new generations is an effect of cultural Marxism, that is teaching in schools, especially university" And it's on, and on, and on. It's not all of things, there is way much more.

About claim 4: It's not just that it's difficult to pinpoint exactly what rights should be untouchable. It's also that in fact every right we might declare to be from god and therefore untouchable ultimatly isn't untouchable. And that is for the simple reason that god doesn't declare those rights untouchable himself, every such right was just attributed to god by a human and therefore is subject to change by humans. What this line of reasoning does is simply putting the decision about what right is untouchable into the hands of whatever religious authority figure happens to have the most influence. This ultimaty goes back to the core principle of religion. "Authority makes right."
Hey DarkMatter! You mentioned that Poland is often used as an example for a first world country still being very religious. I have recently moved to Poland and I have good news. Not so long ago they had this thing called "Sunday shopping ban" implemented. This idea that was a fruit of christian church and Labor unions was strongly lobbied in the government and finally accepted. You might asked where is the good in that if government bends to a religious group, but here's the kicker - church pushed for this to get more people to go to church on Sundays. My conclusion is that they had to push for it, because churches were getting empty!

I used to brush this channel aside, due to the animations. I always thought it was on-par with, like, "Freedom toons", making arguments and animations not dissimilar to Wojak memes. "Oh yeah? I am going through and binging all of his videos, and i am continuously impressed.
I remember I watched Freedom Toons when I was younger and a lot more conservative (I live in the South and so many Gaming RU-vidrs I watched were anti-"woke" and the like) and I didn't think there was anything wrong with it, but after I became more progressive and saw the issues with the ideas it pushed and its methods of doing so, I was disgusted with how I once watched it.

Dave's video was very disappointing. But then going to a skeptic conference and seeing the same old dogmatism I left behind is Christian fundamentalism was more disappointing. Christianity was a really big disappointment in my life. Going into the army and learning what the military and my country is really all about was also a big disappointment. Haven't even mentioned the biggest disappointments in my life. I've had a lot of disappointments.

I don’t understand why atheists try to find community through non-belief. As an atheist I find community through my hobbies. Me being an atheist isn’t really an identifying marker for me even if I have strong opinions on the subject. I don’t care if there are dogmatic atheists because I don’t think much about it. When I was 11 or so I started reading the Bible, now I'm much der but it's super fun to see the animations of what I thought were really ridiculous passages of the Bible. What people believe what the Bible says, is hardly what's actually written in there. I still send people Bible passages and they're like just can't believe certain shit is there. And I'm like and that's why I don't respect this book. Often they have nothing to say over it.
Western Civilization dates back to Greece and Rome. It was around way longer than Christianity has existed. Christianity is a thorn in the side of Western Civilization, if anything.
The default state of religion is ethno-centric. Look at 99% of religions in the world, they aren't universalist, they don't seek to convert the world's people. Christianity may be universalist as a collection of writings, but is it really in practice? Systems aren't sentient, they can only make use of the PEOPLE they control, and human beings have a natural and normal racial in-group preference from birth. White people's in-group preference may be suppressed by anti-white institutions but the instinct is still there, and it's fair to characterize Christianity as the European/White religion today.
Re: Atheists being in the closet in the past H. P. Lovecraft (one of my heroes) was quite openly atheistic and nihilistic as early as the 30s and 40s. It never seemed to have really held him back. Certainly not as much as his own self-doubt and nihilism (not to mention the depression). That was in america, though if we want to see the UK's attitude, we need look no further than Bertrand Russell, who was similarly outspoken as early as the 1900s.

Darkmatter your comments on hope are spot on in Nigeria. I can testify that there is a strong positive correlation between religiosity and poverty. There is also a negative correlation between religion and education.
Claim 2: Christianity has maintained western civilization? More like condemned all of it. When Pope Vigilius was arrested by Emperor Justinian for teaching Reincarnation, and Reincarnation was made into heresy, all of Western Civilization was, in that moment, completely turned into hell. Reincarnation is the true doctrine and is in the bible. As a result the west ignores that karma, they fight and die for the church thinking they will go to a fluffy heaven in the clouds, but the bible never actually says that. That comes form the pagan Elysian fields. Christians who deny Reincarnation have no problem with "Satan being the ruler of this world" or with polluting this world since they are supposedly going to heaven and never have to return here, but it's a lie.
People who want to 'go back to the good ol' days' should move to less developed and more religious countries. Those of us here would be happy to switch places with them.
