I hate that there is this big difference with First Born and Primaris. I wish GW had just said “this is what they look like now, sorry they are taller then your old models but that’s the way it is.”

gosh I REALLY love that Guard codex cover art because it truly captures what the guard *are* to me: some of the most broken, hideous, and insane people ever assembled and forced to fight for their lives day in and day out. Excellent excellent work on that piece. Edit: I wholeheartedly LOVE the concept of having mixed squads of firstborn and primaris! It's something I tried experimenting with myself with a more fluff-focused Dev squad, where the heavy bolter is being lugged by an intercessor, and the firstborn heavy weapons fit scarily well on primaris bodies!

Actually, what I'd love to see you guys do someday. One page rules classic 40k and/or 4th ed... maybe with classic templars vs. orks? One thing your channel does a great job of is really driving home the point of "OWN YOUR OWN GAMES!" .. people can buy things that make them happy and enjoy games... but also they can play the versions they want, with the models they want. It is a choice, and if people are frustrated or upset with anything from GW.. cool.. do it your own way. You do a very good job of saying that in a very positive, non-complaint based, way. The reason that she looks like a runway model is because she is supposed to represent an infiltrated Imperial Noble. This particular model was drawn into one of the Hammer & Bolter cartoons IIRC.

i did a load of truescale coversions for my deathcompany with jump packs, i think the most important detail when upscaling older marine kits is the legs, i used 3d printed legs and the increase the height, made them look alot less silly compared to their primaris counterparts

I did this. Tip: Use plasticard, it glues easy with grey plastic and can be sanded, has always the same thickness and can be precutted. I put 1,5mm in the shinbone, then 1/1,5mm at the hip/thigh where it fits, and 1,5mm in the belly (and closed it with miliput there). Its a nightmare to do. I convertet about 150 Marines and 80 Chaos Marines (when Primaris came into the stores). I like the old chapter organisation and loadouts. Your legs are still thin, primaris are so much more bulkier. Maybe just convert 30k truescale Marines or 3d print legs (wasn't a option back then).

My issue with the new marine plastics is really the fact that they're nearly all identical with zero soul to them. Especially the "squad" type boxes where like you said is so well, its just 6 dudes with identical bodies and poses. I miss the older marines that were so easy to pose and rework.

As a new starter to the hobby I've admittedly spent a little too much, but I got the tortuga bay torsos, which whilst resin look honestly really good, bought a ton of generic mk 7 helmets and built 1 tactical and one devastator squad with another 5 torsos on the way. And they look so good alongside the primaris.

I have a few enemy casualties on my Emperor's Children bases. My EC are mostly made from 30k models, but are kitbashed a bit and can be 40k passing. Anyways, the main theme is the Dropsite Massacre, so I have black sand, a lot of bare-heads, and one Salamander, one Raven Guard, and one Iron Hand laid out before the Sons of Fulgrim. The Iron Hand is my favorite because he's laying on his back, kinda turned to one side and has his head cocked back, howling in pain as the Emperor's Children Apothecary (from the 40k Company Command box) kneels above him. But instead of rendering aid, this Legion Apothecary is inflicting cruel pain to his dying cousin. The Iron Hand fits nicely as his right leg is blown off above the knee, and his left arm has just been torn from the flesh of his shoulder. The Emperor's Children Apothecary is helmed, but an air of curiosity and sadism surrounds him as he lifts the mechanical appendage away from his cousin, and a tormented scream of pain and heartbreak emits from the Son of Ferrus. All of this on a 32mm base!

It’s wild that assault has been so tamed… I did the most 40K of my life in 3rd to 6th edition, and it was a time when tanks were silly fragile, and powerfists or klaws could kill a land raider in a single lucky hit. I remember a biker nob with power klaw just going down a line of Leman Russes, popping one a turn, and Ork boyz beating predators and rhinos to death because assault hits were applied to the rear armor value…

It'd be fun to see a video of you upscaling some of these marines and showing how far your paint skills have come since the old days.

Old marines being mixed into newer primaris units is so genius. I hope games workshop adopts this idea, it would make the space marines feel much more unified instead of the old stuff and new stuff feeling like two different armies.

The Necromunda gangers give you a lot of options for non-miner dude models for the GSC.

Yes! I 100% run the apothecary with Eradicators, I also would recommend giving him the "bolter discipline" so they gain sustained with an extra boost in devastator doctrine

I went through a bunch of iterations messing with my firstborn to get them looking good alongside primaris. The two best solutions I found was to either put the firstborn up on 3mm or so of cork, or use those m7 bodies from tortuga bay minis.

Maybe The plasma folks traded primaris for first born weapons, Cause they were veterans who prefered the older plasma rifles, and the other marines wanted an upgrade

tortuga bay studio makes pretty good truescale bodies for all kinds of armor marks from mk2s and to mk8s

For the orks on the bases, look up the old empire archer bits. They have some arrow riddled orks that are dead/dying.

Your idea for first borns sounds great! I’m doing a similar thing right now, primarizing kill team Cassius and it has been super fun.

Thanks to your video about it last year, I got the Execution board game with all 4 assassins plus the cultists. And all the assassins and sorcerer lord were painted to an above tabletop standard!

I'm using a model by Ghamak for my Callidus. She's a bit more pin-up than I would like, but when she's painted right she looks pretty damned good.

When did they start making charge movement random? Back in the old days it was just a flat 6 inches and it was fine. I also agree that removing the Primaris/Firstborn divide would be ideal.

Jay, consider taking advantage of wraping your units, you get a 3 inch pile in so try using that to grab extra units in melee

One of my 4 primus is made from one of the necromunda ladies. My gsc army has a pdf detachment, the miners, the police, the unwashed masses and an entire biker gang detachment, with the gsc heads you can turn any human into a gsc miniature really well, I have a "coven" of magi using the two plastic options that gw make and several acolyte "lay preacher" Magus made out of the old empire flagellants kit with head and arm swaps, it is the perfect army along with tau to give you the chance to include minis you love even if they aren't necessarily as what they are intended as, my kroot hoard is made out of hellamite riders as krootox and dust nomads as kroot.

With your 10000 points of templar, I bet you could make good use of the new detachments. Eradicators would get Assault and +1S within 12". There is also a strategem for +1 to wound rolls. Devastators, Infernus, Aggressors, Eradicators, and all the transports you can muster.

Sisters do have issues, but it's not about melta. They have miracle dices and units supporting them which overcome wound rolls making melta very good again.

Many online have suggested that melta weapons get "anti vehicle" key word. Also,my friends and I have been mixing One Page Rules and 40k rules. We prefer the OPR charge where if you are with 12" you charge successfully.

The whole concept of every unit building off a tactical makes sense in setting too though, it was to compensate for their low numbers. Having every marine having a specialised squad now goes against it entirely, they are something else now.

I've been trying to play vanguard tyranids but I'm having a hard time with the close combat too. All the melee assassin style tyranid models like genestealers, warriors, raveners, von ryan leapers, lictors have gone from AP 3/4 to AP 1 so now when I do connect with the charges they don't do any damage because for the most part saves have stayed the same so for damage in my vanguard list I have to take exocrines because their AP wasn't nerfed as hard.

With guardsmen, I just roll all the dice together as I have a wide array of dice - "white are lasguns, blue is plasmagun, green is melta". Easy, simple, sorted.

agree on genstealer mangus both in them being dynamic and clothing. I think more genestealer cultists should be more subtitle in civilian clothing if they expect to be able to infiltrate, allot of current ones has even human passing ones wearing armor that is shaped to look like genestealer carapace.

Now aday it's easier than ever to have flavourfull primaris armies. Like brutalis dreadnaught an assault intercessor with jumpacks blood Angels, infiltrator and eliminator raven guards, Infernous and eradicator salamanders or outriders white scars. We only need more characters like a huge Bjorn or upgrade sprues for librarian dreadnaught or deathwing

Man they messed up Guard weapon options so much. No more specialized infantry or command squads, same for Scions, and with the nerf to melta it completely wrecks spec-ops lists.

Ork player here: why using 10 nobz without a warboss? +1 to hit is not a joke when hitting on 4+. Under waaaaagh you have sterngth 10 on claws, so it even better for killing light tanks.

Strength like 7-9 weapons are pretty awkward since comparatively few units have toughness.

Well someone watched the Poorhammer tier list with Bricky.

I havent painted models since the 90s , back then all i had was testors and a testor crap airbrush. I recently decided i wanted to get back into it, everything is these "Fast" paints now. I have a Vallejo Acrylic Wargames Special Set , 24 colors . some paint brushes and a Ballistus dreadnought i got off ebay ($40 holy crap warhammer is more expensive than HO railroads). Cant afford a airbrush this paycheck , but next im getting a $89 dollar one off amazon with compressor and 3 different sized airbrushes. Back when i was in the hobby it was rule of thumb you paint all your parts then put the model together, but all the videos I see on youtube , show the pros airbrushing the whole model first, should i switch up? I have 0 painting knowledge i just use to paint what i felt, do i have to prime it like everyone, what the hell is contrast mean. ill stop rambling now and go find beginner videos....

Yeah not only have they removed most of the first born units the ones they did not the replacements are better in the rules normally. Only primaris I own are from the boardgames(Doomsday, Fireteam, etc). Other than that it is firsts born.
