I fully believe in the saying, "It's better to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow." I owned an SS Camaro with 425+ horses and I can't tell you how sad I was to drive that car every day in commute traffic. I'm now looking at the 2019 MX-5 RF GT. Every review I watch reiterates how fun it is to drive this car at lower speeds. That is exactly what I am looking for now.

Super lightweight, RWD, great gearbox, true race suspension (independent all around), and reliability all for about $26k new. The Miata is the perfect sports car. If it's too slow for you, drop $7k more on a Flying Miata turbo with a warranty, and you'll still have a better car than any other at the price point and it will now keep up with them in a straight line.

2019 :) 181hp. And 700 moar RPM But.... I own a 16 ND and feels torquier in the midrange. I love my ND It’s one of those cars you have to drive it to understand.

I always wanted a Miata after the first time I drove one back in the late 90s, but the whole "chick car" stigma kept me from buying one. I saw a little white 95 base model at a dealership back in 2004 and I stopped to look at it. I was not looking for another car at the time, but it was exactly what I wanted. The perfect project. I went back the next day, test drove it and bought it. I drove it straight to a friends shop and there began my obsession. New wheels, tires and a custom exhaust. Many mods and 100k miles later, the "Barbie Car" as I call her is still sitting outside as I type. These cars are more fun than you could imagine. Great video!!!

Honestly glad for this car because otherwise the 124 wouldn't exist! Both are great and offer different styling and power train options so that's always nice, and who doesn't love more options

Don’t forget that the new 2019 models have bumped up the horsepower to 181hp. These cars are seriously the most fun you can have with your pants on!

The ND2 variant is basically the modern day S2000, especially with a set of sways.

Wait now, as a former soft-top convertible owner, I for one can say, living in Chicago, that was a pretty awesome experience! I had a Sebring so of course not the most reliable car in terms of longevity, but, it was front-wheel drive, comfortable to drive, and had plenty of interior space. That car was surprisingly very practical in all seasons! It (somehow) turned heads in the summer with the top down, and kept me nice and warm while pushing through the snow effortlessly in the winter, THE CHICAGO WINTER. With all the trunk space and rear leg room I could carry anything and anyone with ease. Only got rid of it because after replacing the water pump I got an internal coolant leak that wasn't from the water pump. Otherwise it actually held up with minimal maintenance pretty damn good. But this stigma about having a soft-top convertible in the winter is BS, and also the idea that breaking in is easier. Not in mine, no-one ever broke in it and if they did, it would be the same amount of effort and just as much noise as breaking a window, cause they would need to open a door to get anything and if they opened a door, the factory alarm would sound. Owning a soft-top convertible isn't nearly as bad as stereotypes make it.

One of my first cars was a 92 miata, and it was one of the most FUN cars I've ever driven in my life. I really want to pick up another one.

I own a 2010 NC2 Miata. First stick car I've ever owned. Been from MO to FL, FL to CA, CA to WA, then WA back to MO. Raced at Buttonwillow and my home track of Gateway multiple times. Never broke down and been modified and turned back to stock. Hands down, best and most fun car I've ever owned. Sadly, in MO, we do get winter, so I'm selling it and looking into a Subie or Audi S4. But it will most likely be the best car I will ever own in my life. Miatas truly are life once you own one.......

I currently own a well-traveled, dented, and scratched 2000 MX5 Mk2.5 with 1.8L LS in crystal blue. It's my first car since I moved abroad and needed a city commuter that would be cheap to run and maintain and I wouldn't be worried about wrecking it. It's a very fun car! I live in London so MX5 is perfect for its narrow streets, winding motorways, and tight parking spots. And with a roof down it just a joy to drive, especially if you have sports exhaust! Now I'm looking for an upgrade and all I want is a two-seater roadster, and however impractical it might be at least I can enjoy my ride to work and weekend runs around town. More people should try cabriolets and roadsters, there would be more smiling faces on the roads :)

Absolutely brilliant video as always, pure entertainment! However, one small point, you mentioned that it's the "closest thing Mazda has given us to a Coupé Miata". Back in the second generation model, they did actually build a Coupé, in incredibly limited numbers, with absolutely no way of removing the top. :)

Donut Media, please do some episodes on tuners on car brands in there country, like in Japan TOP SECRET, HKS, Yashio Factory that do S13,S14,S15, POWER HOUSE AMUSE on Hondas, RE-Amemiya on RX7 & RX8, MINES on the GTR or MCR on the GTR, and so many more, one country at a time, I think these will be great to do for viewing.

2019s are getting a HP boost too which is really nice.

2019 Miata makes 180hp and 150lb-ft with some engineering revisions to the engine at no extra cost cause Mazda is awesome like that.

ive driven all mx5 models and owned a 6-speed 1.8L NB and had 2 NDs (one 1.5 and one 2.0) as rental cars for over a week and raced (and won) the German version of the MX5 Challenge Cup, and i will tell you something: mx5s are like Land Cruisers, it doesnt matter which one you buy! They are all equally good in their own way! I love them all and ever since i sold my NB i truly wouldnt know which one to go for next...they are all good but different at the same time...the problem is that i get it and i enjoy the "vibe" of all models...they all have their own vibe, their own character...its impossible to tell which one is the best....dont let "wannabe purists" tell you that the NA is the best because of "insert cliches here", cuz thats BS, they are all good in their own way...fuck i need one of each...

I own 2017 Mazda3 standard transmission of course. The MX-5 and the 3 have the same 2.0L engine. It's peppy and torquey. The 3 weights close to 400lbs more though.

Of course! I love my m3 vert. Granted, I would have preferred a coupe, but still. Lots of great cars are verts. Everything from Boxsters to Vettes.

all convertibles are cool, except in the rain, and it rains here all the time :) i got two convertibles, have owned 3 others previously. my wife's car is a hard top. was mine, gave it to her when we married. got an old e30 ragtop and a ford falcon ragtop. love driving them. if you love to view its the only way to drive. except in the rain :P

The reason the Miata is seen as a girls car is BECAUSE its so small compared to a larger sports car. its raced because its affordable and built in such a way that gutting it out for racing is easy, and the Spec Miatas are 90s miatas with lowered suspensions and tuned engines.

The only way you'll get me to drive a miata is if it mean Bowsette becomes real
