Can Elden Ring Replace Skyrim As Top RPG? | News & Topics 

Tbh, I don't think these games are directly comparable other than to say, for instance, that I like apples more than oranges. Simply put, the genre's are too different.

Kinda weird to compare the two, they don't really offer the same thing.

Long time lover of CRPGs and MMORPGS. I couldn't get into Skyrim and despite my best efforts, I couldn't even get into Witcher 3. Never played a Souls game, and though I bought Elden Ring almost a year ago, I just now started playing it...and I'm addicted. Despite the fact that I'm level 20 and haven't managed to kill a single boss yet. The combat is intense and I'm slowly getting better. There are some things I don't like, like the auto target forcing me to look at the boss and keeping the camera facing the boss. But the world and bizarre story have me hooked. (I'm 100% mouse/keyboard and From needs to do let us have more control over keybinds). I have a feeling I'll be playing Elden for most of 2024.

Dude I just got Elden Ring 4 days ago and its my new Skyrim. I've been obsessing over content and various builds like I used to with Skyrim that to me, this is Elder Scrolls 6. I mean realistically, with the way western game companies are going, if we do get an Elder Scrolls 6 its probably going to be ruined like the new Fable game coming out or a variety of other games for "modern audiences."

I tried to make Ariana Grande in Elden Ring and all I got was a washed away Taylor Swift haha

? Why would you think we aren't getting Elder Scrolls VI? Probably 3 or so years away at this point.

The only thing about Elden ring is that i leveled to 200 by farming the boulder for nearly 50 hours straight and I couldn’t even kill the first boss at level 200 so I deleted my save file and threw away my ps5 in the trash bin

Skyrim isn’t even the best elder scrolls game as far as rpgs go. Skyrim was groundbreaking for other reasons though

Haven't watched yet, but I'm gonna say, you can't dethroned something that never sat stop one to begin with. I honestly believe there's always been better RPG's than the Elder Scrolls cause the Elder Scrolls really has almost nothing special about it compared to games like the Soulsborne franchise, nor even something like Two Worlds 2 where they actually do something to make the magic actually kinda fun to use as opposed to just giving you a handfulla' spells or something else like making your most op spells but it's all just the same spells anyways. Not even as good gameplay wise as Dark Messiah of Might and Magic where the combat can involve physics and contextual ragdolling. I mean Dark Messiah's a linear RPG made on the Source engine by Arkane studios, and they put a kick button in the game that let's you kick people off cliffs, into spikes, into breakable scenery that drops more scenery onto them; you also have access to an ice spell that can either freeze enemies or leave patches of ice on the ground the enemy can slip on. Dark Messiah is practically a bar brawl all the way through, and I'm honestly surprised I hardly ever hear people talk about it. Recommended it to a friend some time ago who thanked me for doing so. Hell, Dark Messiah even has a multi-player mode that still has a base, and the multi-player mode (while it lacks the stuff that makes the single player a hell of a lotta' fun to play) has its own sorta RPG mechanics where as you play on a server, you can level up your classes as you play 'em and pick perks to use, least from what I remember. honestly, I wish more RPG's would copy Dark Messiah's homework when it comes to gameplay, it's fun to just pick up some random prop to just whip at people.

played it beat it and there is not much of an rpg feel when it comes to game play in Elden ring. Its still a fun game but for the open world that I explore and dive in to dungeons...na this aint it, but it will scratch that itch for boss slaying.

Skyrim was a great game that we got to beta test & patch…Elden Ring is just on a completely different level.

I don't understand why people call Skyrim "One of the best RPGS" This game is average at best, even compared to Oblivion outside of graphics Skyrim is big downgrade and the only saving grace is the mod community.

Compare a great game like elden ring to a bethesda game is like to compare a beautiful woman to your mon.

Skyrim isn't a good game. Like, the setting and writing are often good or fine, but in terms of a game that has like, challenges you overcome, fun mechanics, innovative anything... that's not skyrim. It's legitimately more of an interactive novel.

I played Skyrim 10 years ago. Elden Ring is my thing now. No need to compare. Skyrim’s exploration was amazing. Elden Ring is the new Skyrim. Both are true masterpieces. Can we be happy we got to experience both?!??

I would say if you’re still playing Skyrim and want to try a souls game I would start with dark souls and work your way up. Dark souls came out about the same time as Skyrim so the graphics are close. Saying that they have as much income as a pickle and a cucumber. not at all the same kind of game you have
