Can Gear 5 Surpass Super Saiyan 1 

My coworker thought Gear 5 was a new Super Saiyan form. I don't think it's passing the OG Super Saiyan in the public eye.😂

Gear 5 would likely be close if not around ultra instinct level in terms of influence and hype. Saying it will reach super saiyan 1 levels is pushing. The original super saiyan transformation is and will always be the most iconic moment in all of anime, I don’t think it will be dethroned by gear 5. This is just my take though

people really forgot just how much influence dragon ball has the amount of refrences it gets in other shows and the amount of sound effects extracted from it used in just your average youtube video such as the ultra instinct theme or the vanishing sound effect and it was the one that came up with the energy beam while you'd rarely see one piece refrences.

I don't believe so. By the time SSJ1 came around DBZ was already a hit worldwide. One Piece isn't as popular in the West unless you're really into anime. Most people don't start it simply because of the episode count. For me that was the reason why I started it. G5 transformation is going to come off more goofy. SSJ1 was more of a serious moment. either way I'm going to enjoy it.

The reason i dont think it will is because inherently dbz is more popular than OP. Like non anime fans just know about dbz and super saiyan. OP cant say that

As a One Piece fan, my personal bias would be Gear 5 due to how the transformation fit Luffy's character and the themes of One Piece. However, I would have to give it to the Super Saiyan in terms of influence and cultural impact. But that doesn't mean that Gear 5 can never surpass Super Saiyan in terms of impact. No one knows back then in the 90's how impactful Super Saiyan is to the culture of anime today. The same as we won't know the impact of Gear 5 going forward. We will soon see down the line.

In 10 years from now i can see Gear 5 being more Iconic. But definitely not right now, i mean it also took time for SS to become as Iconic as it is. At the end of the day though. Two Iconic Goats can and will Co exist. No need to dethrone something

I think it all depends on what you grew up on. I didn’t grow up on anime and only have gotten into it in the past decade or so. As such I’ve been drawn more into One Piece for its story, characters, moments, etc. And if you compared the transformations from One Piece and DBZ at face value, you can see why the drastic transformation of Gear 4 or now Gear 5 would be more interesting than just the hair color change of the multiple super saiyans. But I do understand if you grew up on DBZ and you were someone who whitenessed the first Super Saian transformation on TV. That moment must have been truly one of a kind story telling wise and I completely understand if you think that is the best transformation of all time. Just be aware that maybe, just maybe, Gear 5 could be some people’s first Super Saiyan moment.

manga is over 500mill beating batman and in route to beat superman , also op isn't only popular in japan, op film red was debuting at 1 in 15countries including the US. also a few other isdues super sonic was out waaaaayyyy before ssj 1 like decades, op is also referenced in alot of media as well like dbz and naruto , gumball being one of them , teen titans go , DC comics , etc. well made video but i can tell you don't really read/watch op which is fine but I'll tell you this op is far and i mean far more popular than you think.

It is impossible for a series where the fights are mediocre, at best it will outperform ssj.
