Great topic! One tip from a cancer survivor, now struggling with recurrence after eight years 😢: The tea with the most EGCG is Gyokuro. You can get it in well sorted tea shops. Make sure not to use too hot water (80 degr. C) and let it stand for 3 minutes (first infusion) and 11 minutes (second infusion). All the best for all of us struggling with this insiduous disease! ❤

I was also Cancer free for eight years. Then I had a recurrance after I lost my best friend. I had breast Cancer it was at first stage.

@@jennieosborne3530 I feel your pain. Losing someone very loved is big stress for our body and soul. :-'( My recurrence came as I was bullied in my job from my male bosses. :-( We all are a unity of body, soul and mind. If someone damages our soul, it can affect the body. Love and hugs, Beate

I try to drink green tea daily since I was diagnosed with breast cancer as my Mom suggested it. She came across a study from China in regards to green tea and breast cancer and sounded quite promising.

So, wait a minute... we're NOT supposed to eat or drink antioxidants due to interference with chemotherapy?!? I wish someone had told me that back in December.

Let us clarify. Normal intake of antioxidants in dietary sources is safe and normal. Taking high doses by consuming supplements or high volumes of tea, etc. is not recommended.

I have drunk green tea for years....with ginger and lemongrass It's delicious. I haven't drunk "normal" tea and coffee for years. It gave me headaches and migraines. Thanks for yet another insightful video. 🍵💐

It's not clear if it is, but in the processing, it is unlikely the hoped-for benefits of green tea are destroyed.

Would green tea have the same effect as turmeric on a person taking tamoxifen? I.e. might it interfere with the effectiveness of tamoxifen?

There is evidence that turmeric supplements, particularly those containing high doses of curcumin, can interfere with the metabolism and effectiveness of tamoxifen, an estrogen receptor modulator used to treat breast cancer. However, the use of turmeric as a spice in food appears to be safe. There is no interaction between turmeric and the aromatase inhibitors.

Thank you for the info. I just finished my cancer treatment. We use a lot of coconut in our food. Heard that using coconut increases recurrence. Is it true doctor?

There is no evidence that coconut increases the risk of recurrence.

Green tea does not increase estrogen and should be fine to drink on CDK 4/6 inhibitors. Enjoy!

Is it safe to Drink green tea when got her2 positive breast cancer ,as i read that caffeine can rise estrogen levels, i used to drink alot of coffee but now only have one a day ,been trying to find a replacement, thanks

Buy green decaffeinated green tea. Thats what I did because as I got older I couldn't tolerate caffeine.

I am confused and scared. In a previous video, you said it was only SUPPLEMENTS that one should not use during radiation. Green tea is not a supplement, yet you are suggesting it should not be used during treatment. Now i am wondering about my breakfast of blueberries and strawberries that i continued with during treatment because they aren't supplements either. Should i not have gad that? And if ok because they aren't supplements, why would green tea be contraindicated? Please clarify. Thanks!

Hi, after breast cancer stage 2A I went on to 4 rounds of chemo and 16 rounds of radiation. My oncologist told me to stop supplements including green tea during both treatments. Supplements or teas that protect cell also protect cancer cells during treatment. You don’t want them protected. You actually want them exposed so treatment would be more effective. After all my treatments I got back on my D3, magnesium, probiotics, Omega 3. I may start back on green tea soon.

Please explain why my medical oncologist is ordering a uric acid lab test.

A uric acid test is often part of the "panel" of blood tests that are routinely done when people are being monitored for side effects, etc. In this case, it's just a part of the tests that are all run at once. In people on particular medications, monitoring uric acid may be important. This question would be entirely reasonable to ask of your medical team.
