I think you have it backwards, it’s the defense that is very sketchy this year. We’ve got a great edge room, but the D line is nothing, we better hope that Poona Ford works out or doesn’t get hurt because if not there’s no plan B, so how can we get to 3rd and long so that we can utilize our pass rushers? And the CB’s are terrifying (as a Chargers fan, not to opposing WR’s!). But i think you are underestimating our offensive weapons, our running game should be excellent with Greg Roman as OC, we might have gotten the most all-around RB in the draft with Vidal in case Dobbins and Gus Bus can’t stay healthy (Vidal is definitely the best rookie in pass pro, so he can stay on the field and he’s a bowling ball with explosion). But we have two receivers who are very good in Palmer and McConkey. Granted McConkey is a rookie but his game translates immediately to the NFL and more importantly to Herbert’s game and Roman’s scheme. And we don’t need a 3 rd WR in this offense, but as bad as QJ was last season, Staley did not play him to maximize his talents, he tried to square peg him into a round hole when Mike Williams went down with go balls that bounced off his hands instead of quick hitter slants and let him run with the ball and get YAC. His hands aren’t his game, his legs are. I don’t think Harbaugh is going to do stupid things like that. Tight end is more of a question than our receiver room. Dissly will correct our biggest problem with last year’s offense (atrocious TE run blocking) and is underrated as a pass catcher, but certainly not elite in that department. A lot is going to depend on Hayden Hurst, so who knows if that will work. But the defense has so many more mysteries unsolved than the offense. And like you said, Herbert is a cheat code. He was making plays throwing to practice squad guys for the last two years while his receiving corps were all hurt

Talent alone is highly overrated. The Chargers do have less talent than last year but they will win more games this season. I predict 10 wins with a wild card round win.
