Still have not seen a Fire Red/Leaf Green Hardcore Fire Nuzlocke. Charmeleon vs Misty at level 21 ( maybe 22 with edging to level up on Staryu) With the right nature, speed ivs, and Secret Power, it might just be possible to outspeed, smash with Secret Power and either Crit or Paralyze, and allow you to win, or gamble with smokescreen for water pulse miss.
@@imbattlnscurvy5922 cant tell if the 'But yeah, super skillful' is sarcastic or just agreeing, but if it is sarcastic, those 15 resets were bcs luck wasn't lucking how it should, it was impossible to get past Roxanne without luck, after Roxanne he remained without deaths until Drake.
I mean, the only part that made the run "impossible" was the first gym. The rest of it is like any other one in difficulty. Not that it isn't impressive but it is something to note.
Hopefully he keeps making vids with different teams restrictions! Pokédex colour, greater/less than a certain height or weight, theme teams; there’s a lot to choose from!
Nuzlocke Idea : Kecleon Type Run 1 st encounter / starter - has to be the same type as the 1st gym is (rock if you are playing Pearl) After obtaining a badge you can get another encounter depending on what the next gym type is (grass if you are playing Pearl), repeat until the final badge. Bonus challenge : Must use Kecleon if you can get it as a viable encounter (ignoring the gym badge catching rule) Really enjoying you content Silph, keep up the good work.
Dude what a run! Easily my favourite that you've done, the strats you used were ingenious and the risks you took with fire blast at the end really added some jeopardy. Bravo sir, loved it
This video really hits home Silph. Ruby is literally the first Pokémon game I ever played, and the nostalgia is everything. This challenge was so entertaining as well.
You know it's a good (Sun)day when Silph posts new video. Thank you!!! Btw would you consider doing a hardcore nuzlocke with Grass type in HGSS? I heard it is almost as impossible as this one but never dare to try one. I know you did the one for Crystal but the game was old. Thanks in advance!!!
I really hope you never get tired of making these, they seem like a TON of work. I love watching them. Excited to see what other challenges you can come up with once all the types are done!
its a shame not only slugma can only be obtained in a second route on emerald, but the fact roxanne has a second geodude in there its 100% impossible to do it with only a level cap torchic, even if it had perfect IVs it just wouldnt cut it. if only it could learn bullet seed (i mean hes still a bird and i think some of the flying types do learn it...) great video as always silph, using my favorite starter at my favorite gen once again.
It's technically possible I suppose, if you get enough crits and misses from Roxanne's Pokemon. How many resets is that gonna take though? Even without actually resetting the run.
@@Zerox_Z21 you would probably need 5-6 consecutive crits just to get past the geodudes not to mention that they would have to miss all their attacks or use harden (ember will always hit harder than any other move torchic can get at that point but the AI can be wonky with status moves anyway so they do have a chance to waste their turn with it) which is simply an absurd mathematical improbability. a 100% perfect torchic could probably safely setup growls assuming at least a first turn miss, but that would only be good for the first geodude. and honestly if it isnt to make complete resets everytime you might as well just allow the lv cap to be 1 lv higher to get combusken. thats literally the only impossible hurdle in the run.
Great run man! Honestly the Fire Blast luck in this video was statistically improbable, but that’s the awesome part of playing the games. You never know how a run will go until you do it. Way to tackle a run that most would have deemed impossible!
39:08 Did someone else noticed the guy that appeared in the empty pokemon slot? I MIGHT be wrong, but is probably some joke with the name ´´Drake´´ that i didn´t get. It´s really funny, though.
That seaking interaction made up for the grey-zone rule bend. Absolutely loved to see castform actually be used for once (that thing made its home in my PC)
Great video, go gen 3! A word of advice that could have helped for the first gym where every EV mattered: EV's are applied at level up AND when deposited in the PC (so level 100 pokemon can still br EV trained). But what that means is that if you deposited and withdrew your Torchic right before going into the Roxanne battle, you could have slightly buffed your stats and the odds of winning.
10:58 attempt 15… So many attempts… And it looks like, given you got that one female, Bella that you kept resetting for a perfect IV each time…. You love to make your gaming painful, huh? 🤔 44:05 So it seems it’s the beginning part of this challenge in this version that makes it seem super difficult to impossible… As after a few badges, you don’t seem to struggle at all… 😮 Just one death too… Almost deathless- Incredible 😎👍🏻🤘🏻 You’re number ☝🏼
Man, these last two Nuzlocke runs Silph has done have been painful to watch. At least Silph managed to pull through to the end despite the low number of Fire Types in Hoenn roadblock that was Roxanne. Congrats on making it through to the end.
Really a top hardcore nuzlocke! One supposedly impossible challenge, made possible! A very bold attempt! Maybe one day I can try that craziness as well! Well done, Silph!
I was thinking about doing this challenge and the odds stacked against But then our "are you kidding me/that is not good/literally 1HP/hyped move description explanation" King comes in clutch once again👌
Great run Silph, you're the best!!! How about a Psychic team on Pokémon LeafGreen, with Abra being your starter, you can catch a wild one and trade for Mr. Mime
Great video bro don't ever stop making your videos. Your content is awesome. It was rough in the beginning it pull it though. Keep up the success on your channel bro.
excellent work! proof of silph being a nuzelockin master gettin the only deathers right at the eliete four. also i wanna see you do the avatar run with the fire nation!
you should do a fire only nuzlocke in soulsilver!!! back when I was 11, I beat Red with only Typhlosion, Ninetales and a Charizard. fire is my faveorite typing and soulsilver was my first game! I also beat Blaine with only those fire types before too XD it was crazy (I had beaten red before a couple times, hence the charizard but I wanted a challenge so I rebattled him with only those 3)
I know I am so late to this video, but the Pekachu voiceover was too funny to me. Thanks for all the videos. I am several months behind due to the birth of my daughter, but hoping to get caught up soon!
I don’t think using a castform breaks the game, so good call using it. But I think allowing two fiery path encounters in this run also would have been ok due to it simply being ‘impossible’
I really enjoy watching your videos Silph. You make my day every time you upload. I can’t wait to see what you put out when Pokémon scarlet and violet come out! I gave the video a like as always.
Well done! I've been trying single type runs as well, no nuzlocke though haha Been playing in Inclement Emerald! Just completed a dark type run. Thank you for the video!
Part of me is thinking about a little advantage Silph could've had against Claydol there. Specially since Ghost types are physical in 3rd gen. But it depends on Ninetales learning Shadow Ball, which I don't think it can on this gen.
A smaller youtuber called Magcarjoe succeeded this Nuzlocke and has the video on his channel I believe, but still. Good work! Edit: Ah, I realized I forgot he did allow Torchic to evolve, so his lvl cap was a bit higher. Maybe that would make people think it's not as epic.
Does he stream these runs live? Cuz with all the crits and other possible run-ending risks he takes it’s hard to believe he actually completed this on his first attempt that made it past the first gym. His luck was pretty insane this run
You think naming a Pikachu Pekachu is bad, in the remakes it's a Shroomish. Imagine living your life with a nickname reminding you that you aren't wanted. #JusticeforShroomish
He probably didn't have to worry about missing out on the Torkoal encounter if he had just repelled, gotten Slugma on the volcano route, and then come back to Fiery Path to get the Torkoal, no? Or is it only in Emerald that you can encounter Slugma on the ashy route?
Wouldn't it have been better to train torchick to an exp grade where you don't shoot directly to lvl 17 after the nosepass? Seems like the fight you won would have still be yours and you would've had double kick right off the bat. Still cool video again, keep'em up. Edit: how the fuck did that half-life castform survive an earthquake from altaria?! 🤔
Good job. I think you should try a Hardcore Nuzlocke GRASS only in Pokémon Y/X because i think will be difficult and interesting, also because you did just 2 Hardcore Nuzlocke with GRASS type
Always fun watching your content. BTW, have you ever considered a solo-type run? So instead of pokemon of one type, you only use pokemon that have one type. So dragonair would be legal as a pure dragon type, but dragonite would be illegal because it's a dragon/flying hybrid. I think it'd be super interesting considering that solo-type are a minority, and many solo-type 'mons are hybrid with their final form, giving even fewer good encounters.
