There's no Dusk Stone before the post-game, you say? Well, as someone who uses a Chandelure in my current run of Pokemon Y, I evolved my Lampent after beating Olympia. The Dusk Stone was located in a maze in Terminus Cave.
Exactly. I was stunned that he didn't know about this considering he's done so many Pokemon runs. A little bit sad cuz Chandelure is one of my fav Pokemon.
Actually he said 'essentially' no dusk stone. To me that would imply he knew about the terminus cave one and just didn't want to get it for some reason. The heat-rotom is obviously more useful than Chandelure for a fire type only run anyways, so I'd say chances are pretty good that he just preferred having the STAB electric type than wasting time getting an out of the way dusk stone for an inferior encounter.
@@Kandall05161 you do make a fair point. Come to think of it, not just Rotom overshadowed Chandelure, as Houndoom's Dark type has the same offensive coverage as Chandelure's Ghost type. Thinking about it more, if we ever get a new type again, I wish it does something to make Ghost and Dark type more different on offense, so that choosing between them had greater impact.
24:54 I had a funny moment with the Memory Girl in my first Y nuzlocke. I had her read the memory of my star Azumarill and she brought up the fact that we did super training. She even says "Bean remembers feeling very stressed" which was funny because I was actually getting stressed out over that Magneton stage. Little things like that made my Y nuzlocke special.
Ever since Chamander in gen 1, fire has been one of my favorite types. But their just aren’t many of them to do a good nuzlocke run in most generations
The RU-vidr Choatic Meatball did a mono fire type run in Pokémon Y and did it in 4 attempts and I believe that Keegan J did a fire mono type run in Pokémon Y as well.
I just wanted to say thanks for making such great content. It's really inspired me to change the way I play Pokemon, and it's really enjoyable to watch these videos! :)
I remember unintentionally doing a fire type only run of this game when I first played it, I finished it in 8 hours. Mind you, that wasn’t a challenge of any kind I was just very hyped the first day and there was an event torchic with speed boost
Charmander faces in another direction because the generation is well beyond generation 1, it more easily clarifies that charmander is a fire type so you can see his tail makes it easier the newer pokemon players. Dunno why since you can just hover over it for the type. But that’s the explanation for it.
But all the starters are color coded by types. Like bulbasaur is green & grass, squirtle is blue & water, so wouldn’t it be obvious for new players that the orange pokemon is fire??? Like the starters are always grass/water/fire sooo it’s a matter of process of elimination haha
Hey thanks so much for the super! For some reason RU-vid just decided to notify me about it now Appreciate it a lot and the videos will keep coming your way!
Loved the video, you should try a omega ruby/alpha sapphire mega only run. Edit: For the people who say it would be to easy he could limit the amount of encounters and/or limit what pokemon he can mega evolve.
@@UrFavoriteArsonist And? Entertainment is Entertainment. If I wanted more difficulty I'd ask. Nah. His humor. Storytelling & presentation leaves the Entertainment aspect incomplete.
You couldve switched out Houndoom after the Taunt on Klefki. Taunt still lingers after switching out so none of you other pokemon wouldve been tormented right away.
Taunt makes the afflicted Pokémon unable to use status moves. The effect lasts two turns or until the subject is switched out. = it doesn't remain after switching out
Never been this early! So happy I could catch this. And you know what would be a fun challenge? Beating Pokémon Sword/Shield with ONLY one evolution Pokémon, so no starter or any Pokémon with evolutions. Only one form Evoultions.
26:34 You can get a Dusk Stone before postgame by Super Training one of your pokemon to the max and then beating the Aegislash Edit: there's also one in Terminus Cave
I was pretty bummed out when you replaced Simisear. 💔 The elemental monkey trio are highly underrated, IMO. ah well, at least he got some time to shine! 🔥
4:20 Nah, they likely wouldn't. Catching a Bunnelby at ~25% health in a normal ball is about 87.5% odds, so not getting it even 8 times in a row is already ~1 in 17 million odds. Not getting it 50 times in a row would be 1 in 1.5*10^45 odds.
Gonna be honest, if you banned the use of dynamax in SwSh runs, you should have banned the use of megas (especially the OP charizard megas) for this run. I'm also, once again!, requesting a fighting type XY run! Oh, and yet again, Vivillon is pronounced Viv-Vee-On, not Viv-Villon. Its French. Edit: I swear I do enjoy these runs Silph 😅 I feel I always comment harshly but it's just constructive criticism.
Bro I just spent the whole day continuing with my embroidery/cross stitch of a shiny female Shinx while listening to your videos, didn't even realise I spent like 3 hours in the same position until I had to swap devices to continue watching
So happy :) . I asked you to do this a bit over a month ago on twitter. You did much better then me though I didn't want to use mega evo on charizard. Keep up the great content.
If you wanted to get away from the dugtrios on route 13, you could've had Pheonix or the fully evolved Greymon at the front, arena trap doesn't work against flying types
I have an few Ideas. 1. A Nuzlocke using only Pokemon with 4x weaknesses. 2. A Nuzlocke with no STAB attacks. 3. A Nuzlocke with Pokemon with only one typing.
Fire nuzlocke vid as usual Silph! (Pun fully intended lol) always appreciate the content but was wondering if you've ever considered adding more rules to the runs for more challenges. The one I had in mind specifically was limiting the number of Pokémon your allowed to use in battle to that of the next gym leader or elite 4 member?
I'm currently doing a hard-core nuzlocke (for fun no video.) with only fire types and without evolving my pokemon. Your video helped me understand how the encountering rule works.
🤣 love 8:35, “tony hawk, baby! Oh look an oran berry” reminded me of the end of the fight between Scott pilgrim and Lucas Lee (in the movie) This video Is brilliant. I think I’ve watched it 3-4 times, skipping backwards to rewatch the parts that I laughed over…. There were a lot of those parts.
Silph, this was awesome! Hey, how about this challenge: Pokemon X/Y (your choice) with only Bug types! I would love you to do this, because nobody did it before, its not too hard, you will probably use a bunch of pokemon you have never used before (you even have some megas, like Mega Beedrill!) yet you will still have many challenges (like Grant perhaps?). Its also my birthday tomorrow. Good luck and keep up the good work!
this nuzlocke is so great for people who wants to start off their first nuzlocke you can get much encounters from the beginning and also don't have to clutch on the first gym
I can't sleep without the TV on but many videos have drastic volume and light changes, these are the only videos that my gf is happy for me to leave on as they don't wake her as I try to drift off haha
35/7. This was another great vid. Suspenseful, as well, I feel. You oughta try an OR/AS run next, so you have an opportunity to use Mega Evolution there, also.
I live in Houston and I remember going to the airport as a kid and the elevator doors opened and Yao Ming was right there but he looked unhappy and annoyed lol
Man this was a painful run to watch at times. From losing Braixen pretty early on to Pyroar sacing itself because of Mega Gyarados, quite a lot of unlucky moments. At least Silph made it out with a pretty successful end and a good number of teammates left.
I'm glad Magcargo finally got a bit of a spotlight. Always loved that pokemon, but was always disappointed in it never being that great. Doesn't stop me from having one in every playthrough I can though.
Arena Trap Pokémon on Route 13 could be avoid with Talonflame. Flying types and other "raised" Pokémon (like those with Levitate, or users of Magnet Rise etc) are immune to the ability.
Normal Playthrough in HeartGold/SoulSilver is a doozy! I’ve done it, and you get some good encounters with decent movepools. Steel and Fighting gyms will be pretty rough, but then play through was quite fun.
I have an idea. Usum but with pokemon that can mega evolve. Those that have the ability to mega evolve so no mega evolving (even though it's post game)
