In the the most respectful way, Bryson has somehow managed to keep an almost childlike innocence about him in spite of all the media attention and the cauldron of competitive golf. He really did want Rick to sink that birdie put on 18.

Great video with very swish video editing and style. What struck me was Bryson came across as such a genuine guy - wanted Ricks shots to go well, encouraging an opponent, picking up Rick's clubs and filing divots for a playing partner without a second thought is what demonstrates what a sound guy he is and shows the true character of the man.

Yes! But his on camera act gets old. Every video he’s gotta do the same shit. “I’m just here to grow the game and inspire young people” or the “I’m just a golf nerd , I get deep into the numbers and mechanics of the swing”. Me me me me me. It comes of sooooo fake. Every shot is “this is a very hard shot”. Every course he’s on has the hardest conditions according to him and he’s gotta let everyone know that.

@Lamster66
@Lamster66 5 месяцев назад
Not really, he shot 80. We've seen Rick Break 75 now and again Rick has the potential to play some lovely golf but tends to fall to pieces psychologically when he hits a bad shots especially in the presence of tour pros(which is understandable) I don't know how good, a pre youtube Rick was? what I see is someone who once upon a time could play some good golf getting negative because he isn't. Rick seemed more relaxed around Bryson after, being with him all week making content Bryson helping Rick with his swing and strike earlier on likely took some of the pressure off playing him. Rick held the front 9 together pretty well A couple of wet balls on the back 9 and a couple in the trees didn't help him and he got lucky twice with friendly ricochets out of the trees. It could have been a lot worse. Rick did get unlucky a couple of times. Had those things gone his way then it might have been a different story. However Bryson was going easy on him and didn't really get out of 1st gear. I think Bryson played for the draw which content wise was the best result. Ironically Rick said (about the bouce outs) it never happens but he did the same thing playing Ian Poulter.
@lettuceb2336
@lettuceb2336 5 месяцев назад
I think Rick is a great example of a golfer who generally scores worse than his abilities would dictate. He calls it bad luck, but I think there's a more realistic reason. Filming these rounds adds significant time to playing 18, and Rick looks to loose the laser focus required to play consistently. At times he looks like a scratch golfer and others he looks like a 12... and I completely relate. I can play near scratch over 9 holes when focused, but I tend to blow up due to distractions and slow rounds. I often look like a 2 to 4 hdcp on the range and pull off shots that no 15 hdcp should. Losing focus over roughly 1 out of 4 shots costs me a shot almsot every time. It doesn't matter that I know this, and trying hard to maintain focus can make it worse... so I accept it. Bottom line... I think Rick is playing some of his best golf in recent memory, and if he sticks with a good practice regimen and car reduce the perceived distractions breaking 75 should become commonplace.

Its funny how Bryson is constantly having to manage being nice towards Rick, which I'm sure he really wants to be, but also being fiercly competitive and not wanting to loose the challenge 😆 He is exactly like i would imagine myself being in that kind of situation, if I was a pro, not having my best day and seeing the other guy getting OOB balls to bounce of a tree back onto the fairway several times 😅

great match, this is the kind of stuff i like to see --- get a top-notch pro on a fine course that he knows nothing about. You'll see what their real skill level is like, and Bryson didn't disappoint. He's an absolutely incredible golf pro. Rick, even though he was getting 10 strokes, managed to get Bryson to start "trash talking" halfway through the front nine ! A couple of things i noted, from being a long-time Rick Shiels subscriber: 1) Rick's putting has improved dramatically. I don't think even Rick realizes how much it's improved (he didn't make a ton of putts, but he managed to mostly dodge the dreaded 3-putts - something he has struggled with mightily on his Break 75 Series efforts) 2) Rick, even being a long-time teaching pro, can still learn a few things while playing on the course. He flipped that little bit of grass up in the air early on trying to figure out what the wind was doing, and Bryson couldn't help himself but to tell him that was basically useless because it only told him what the wind was doing right where they were at, not at distance where it really mattered Great vid, and Bryson is awesome to take part in these things. Love to see how he manages himself around the course, and what he's thinking as he decides what to hit and how to hit it. Keep up the good work Rick!

What a great match, well played Rick and it was nice to see Bryson being himself. He has previously been one of my least favourite players on tour but he was just great fun and genuinely encouraging of Rick - even though his incedible competitive nature shone through with some of his comments. Even then he knew they were obvious mind-games and he was aware that Rick knew, it was just banter. What I can't understand is that he seems to hit all of his short irons fat but they are absolutely superb., and I love how positive he is after ever shot.

Bryson has been killing it on RU-vid. Love watching him play. Hes humble, grounded, and always routes for the guys hes playing with.

Man, I do not know what video y'all were watching. He talks about himself way too much to be humble? (he brought up his own record at Sawgrass)

I like the homage to Peter Finch and Matt Fryer's Record Breakers series where they have reactions to the score after each hole based on how they do. Great video, gentlemen!

Absolutely loved the video. One thing I would love to see is distance to the pin for each shot and club selection in top right with the card that has the score, current shot and distance of the hole

Honestly, he comes across as very calculated and a bit egotistical. Im not saying thats a bad thing, and likely the reason for his success. Personally, I cheer for guys like Tony F, Fleetwood, Victor and Scottie

Great round Rick for a really hard course and going up against one of the best at the game. I love to see pro golfers play courses they’ve never played or help from their caddies, it’s like they’re on more a a level playing field when playing amateurs. I also love the GRUNT shots from Bryson when he really goes for it. The only thing I didn’t like, a TIE???? Should’ve at least been a regular play off or a closest to the pin. Loved the video though!

I am almost 50 years old and it continues to baffle me how ridiculously insanely good pro golfers are let alone one the best in the world. Bryson is one of favorites and this was crazy. Bryson did not play well at all for Bryson standards maybe even badly and Rick who is another favorite of mine is basically a scratch golfer or damn close and Rick had like 8 really lucky breaks and Bryson got basically every possible unlucky break and Bryson won by 10 strokes. I play to a 9 or 10 handicap and that is a pretty good golfer for average people and its hard to get my head around how a human being can play this game the way tour pros do let alone Bryson. Not to mention Bryson seems like a guy you know for 20 years and see every Sunday at your friends house to watch football. Crazy down to earth and a really nice guy. I sometimes think the game would be boring if it was as easy as it seems for the pros. Great video. Two real gentlemen and great golfers. Thank you

My all time favorite video! So much fun to watch, seeing such an awesome course and Bryson is awesome on RU-vid! What a clutch and awesome finish by you both!! My top 3 next are - Hovland, Speith and Rahm now that he’s in LIV but anyone you get I know will be epic! Please don’t wait too long for the next one… 🤞

It amazes me how toxic the RU-vid community can be sometimes (bit of an understatement), and unappreciative. Fair play to you Rick. Great match. Great content as usual. Looked like a stunning, and tricky golf course with all that water. Loved it 👍
