You never fail to make the most insane, out of the blue guesses with no clues and then miss a giant clue such as the Paris or Singapore rounds. Never change!

I missed the flag but managed to spot a url with the .sg country code. In the New Zealand round, he also missed that the bins right next to the starting point said Aukland on them.
20:21 is Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Map "Resistance" based in Paris - knew that street seemed familiar from Infected gameplays lol. Great video as always Tom!
I forget my first vid but he talked about his trip to Croatia in it. He was at like 2000 subs at the time and it’s wild that he’s still the same Tom with the success now.
Got my first ever 25,000 on An Urban World the other day. It might have taken me 1hr 36mins and I spent 45 mins scouring Montreal for the right street but we got there. Hopefully not so long next time.
@@shaunald it should be illegal to have a Levesque Street and a Rene Levesque Street in the same city, wasted ages because I could only see half the sign 🤪
Always very nice to see you playing GeoGuessr Tom, and I really like your idea of comparing your past self to the present. Back in 2016 for me, which was the end of secondary school and I only played it now and then when I needed a break from homework. And now in 2022, I am playing everyday, make content and really been enjoying it. I can look back in the space of a year, and I have improved so much and been taking part in pro tournaments very recently. It's crazy how long you been playing the game and been providing the content for the community. You'll always be a legend. Keep it up man, and continue having a good time at what you enjoy doing :)
Tom hyping up the stakes before each game is so funny. Him saying “this is the decider it all come down to this” is like a little boy telling himself he’s about to hit a game winning shot at the buzzer 😂
Absolutely lost my mind when I saw that housing development with the area code in the second round of the second game; that was MY area code growing up!!
"Yes, I am better than my former myself, or at least I was 10 minutes ago" sounds like an Arctic Monkeys lyric edit also "There we were, on the edge of a volcano basically"
Hi Tom, great video as always! You could also try to do a series where you play old challenge links you did videos on (if they still work, i don't know). I think it would be fun to see the differences between choices / reasoning behind choices. Good luck! :)
Hi Tom, a couple of clues I picked up on that might have saved some points: The Singapore one had white and black kerbs that you see in Southeast Asia and not Australia. I think there was also a Singapore flag visible in the background at one point. The Paris one: there was an 18th Arrondissement marking on the street sign, which meant it was in Paris. If you learn the "snail" pattern of the arrondissements, you could also get the area of Paris that it is in.
Even I could tell that was a classic Singapore looking location. Tom definitely beat me on pretty much every other guess, even his far ones. But it made me feel like at least I’ve learned some things from watching so much geoguessr content!
FYI they have arrondissements in Marseille and Lyon too (although neither have 18). Paris's are really distinctive though, with their cool art nouveau style and green border. Marseille's and Lyon's are more similar, just blue and white.
@@Michael-kp4bd Same, I rarely play but watch so many Geoguessr playthroughs that I start picking up stuff. That Singapore round was quite distinctive.
I live in Oregon, and the Oregon round got me. In Geoguessr, you're so trained to think "what exotic location is this?" so the idea that it's right in your backyard doesn't even cross your mind.
I watched so many of your videos, but this was my first time actually playing along! I was terrible, but I did beat you in a few rounds. You and I both picked Sydney for the Singapore one, so we got exactly the same points! I've played very little Geoguesser, but I've been watching a lot of people play. I was happy that I knew what the Mongolia truck looked like! Good game! I hope you're having a great time in America!
Actually gave me a rush to have played all rounds before seeing Tom's guesses. 😅 I was laughing all the way through the first one because I'd never imagine Tom getting Mongolia right, and yet he got it from a fucking desert with nothing there.
@@joehashbrowns7577 he will not. gun violence is rlly bad but its usually specifically targetted or against minorities. or gang violence. he will be perfectly fine
Hey Tom, finally beat you in game 2! There was a trash bin that I know you usually skip over because they're always so blurry. But it Said Auckland Council and I got right in to win! 17,185 points, love your content man
that last round of the 2nd game was so silly LOL. that screamed south asia, even to me, a complete noob. also, I didn't notice cause I was freaking out over what you were doing, but there's an Indonesian flag right in your face there xD
Mate, that first round was brilliant!!! The yellow no-parking lines in the NZ one we’re a bit of a clue, Tom… Great to see you playing Geoguesser again, we all miss it plenty!! Enjoy your US trip!!
20:35 Above the name of the street you have the "18 Arr". I encountered them just in Paris. That means it's the 18th district. And the district number is visible on Google Maps.
it's in fact the place a call of duty map located in paris is based on so if he spent more time playing fps than geoguesser he could have scored more point in that round xD
as good as your new content is, i’ve missed this classic type of video. just raw geoguessr. could be a nice gap filler in between your bigger projects tom
On challenge number 2, don't feel too bad. I saw the city name on a poster in the NZ one and a country net domain on a poster on the final round... but timed ones always stress me out and I absolutely picked the wrong countries. Oddly, a few miles off yours for the NZ one!
Game 3, unfortunately my wife called Paris and I wasn't sure. Ran out of time (playing on a laptop without a mouse) and went somewhere between France and Italy. Then saw where it was and realised you can see Sacre Coeur right there over the houses...
Tom, you miss a lot of the central Oregon ones in these videos and I will give you a big hint. Those trees, they are ponderosa pines that are only really in central Oregon to northern California. It is also very obvious when the dirt next to the roads is that reddish color as that high desert area is all lava rock which gives the dirt that color. They are a dead giveaway for those images. I live in SW Washington but spend a lot of time in central Oregon with friends in the summer. It is actually crazy how much pollen those trees hold. In the spring time, it looks like yellow pinecones in the trees that leave a cloud of pollen when the wind blows. It is so bad, the roads are basically stained yellow when everything is in bloom.
Turquoise toblerone-shaped bus stops with coloured numbers on, can only really be Paris! You were still better then me on everything except that and Singapore! And we made the same mistake with the New Zealand one! Good job on that first round though!
A question for you: With you're solid personality and razor-sharp wit, you clearly have a large fanbase with a comment section full of positive appraisal. Does it ever get to your head weirdly, that you have so many fans that appreciate the cerebellum?
21:30 The triangular sign reading "No Passing Zone" is specific to the United States. In Canada the equivalent sign is a white square with diagram of two cars in a red circle and a slash through the one on the left. In general Canada uses symbols on road signs while USA uses English words. And where US signs have both symbols and words, Canadian signs only have the symbols. For example the Canadian "One Way", "Yield", "Do Not Enter" and "Railway Crossing" signs are roughly the same as the American signs but without the text.
I think you were probably thinking of George St, the main road through the centre of Sydney. Hardly a unique name, though. 20:36 Parisian street signs always have a numbered Arrondissement in a little crescent on the top. As far as I know they're the only city that uses this style. They're numbered somewhat unhelpfully in a clockwise spiral from the centre out, so unless you just know them all instinctively it's not that useful in very short timed rounds, but you'll at least know you're in Paris.
The one you had in Kamilche Washington State USA? I drive through there all the time I know exactly where that is, in fact I'll be driving through there tomorrow. So trippy!
Please get back.to Geoguessr after your return! Damn you are rusty. Safe and exciting travels! Oh, and you suffer from Paris-blindness - this is the second time I see you miss Paris entirely while looking at the sign that even tells you which arrondisement you're in (and to add insult to injury this time you pan past a great view of the Sacre Coeur basilica without noticing it - epic!) :)
A tip for Mongolia: if you are in a completely flat sand desert, always click exactly where the location was in that round (to the east of the northern part of that oval-shaped road structure).
Looking forward to the America series. You did much better than me at these challenges as expected. At least I was consistent with my scores though (about 7,000ish lol).
I hope you're out there memorizing every state flag, license plate, climate, street plan, and architecture style during your US trip Tom! Oh and the trees too, don't forget to memorize the trees
On the street plate "Place Dalida", it is written "18 Art". It must be Paris, Last one, of course it was Thailand, but I can only say for having lived there for 30 years. And I would have gone for North-East because of all the red dirt.
no one could ever kidnap this guy... the kidnapper would unblindfold him, hed make a run for it calling the cops saying "SOMEONE HAS KIDNAPPED ME AND TAKEN ME TO 10030 PALTRY DRIVE IN RYE, WALES, UNITED KINGDOM"
Huh, round 4 of game 2 you got a different set of images than me. I got it on bin day and they nicely have "Auckland Council" written in big clear letters. Very considerate!
I'm guessing the linking up rivers are the water irrigation systems you get on islands like that that direct water from the rainy side to the dry side and essentially run along a contour (slightly downhill I suppose..)! I saw the equivalent in Madeira so may be wrong but might make sense :)
First round L for me 19531 points for me, got the countries right, but the guesses have been pretty bad. Second round W for me 16278 points, the US guesses were terrible, but Singapore clutched it for me... onto the decider then. Final third round L for me 15556 points, decent guesses, but I missed the time limit on the Canarias, which costed me badly, but I would probably still get low score since I didnt know where it is. So GG Tom you've bested me again, as usual
On the Grange road location (and only that one) you were even worse then me... ;) That Asia vibe mixed in with the westernly look made me say Singapore. I think knowing a grange road in Sydney was not to your advantage. But still: with the 22.224 better then old self for sure (probably had some worse tries then 12.000 O a third one, I'll have a look. bey
