I think they did a pretty good job overall, aside from the difficulty. Might have to give this a try. By the way, I couldn't recommend the Crystal Maze experience in Manchester enough. As an enormous fan, I went in expecting it to be a bit of a disappointment, but it had a 26 year old grinning like a loon the entire way through.
Ah, love me some *Cryatal Maze!* 😁 You will never see a show quite like it ever again. I know I shouldn't be surprised, but this is *brutal.* It's a shame, 'cos you can see some effort in some of the presentation, but the overall design is poor. I think - at its core - the concept of a _Crystal Maze_ video game could still theoretically work. I'd imagine something like _realMyst_ being a solid basis - free movement, lots of interactivity, explore the zones for entering games and maybe finding secrets, use the game medium to make new puzzles and create some more advanced versions of old ones; so much potential!
I loved the show too; happened across some reruns during summer mornings when I was about four or five, totally captivated by the presenters (both Richard and Ed were brilliant IMO) and atmosphere. I had a go at this game a few years back, and was about as successful as you! It's ruthless. If you're into Doom at all, there's a Crystal Maze mod which is well worth a look. It's really well done and the creator clearly spent loads of time on it. Looking forward to more of this series! If you're looking for more games, I have a very rare (and very naff) Countdown DOS game from 1994 which I could send you if you want.
Attempting games from this era without reading the instruction manual? Very brave of you. CTRL+ESC is your friend for this game if a game goes wrong I think. Definitely a game you have to practice at to do well in.
It replaced Industrial because according to one former production member. "Britain doesn't really produce much any more." also Industrial is the most boring looking.
I LOVE THE CRYSTAL MAZE! :D I wish they would do reruns of the old series. I don't like the new series they did recently. You may not of beat it, but maximum points for effort. Those minigames were absolutely brutal.
The *Challenge* channel brings it back every now and then, but it's currently off-air. I wasn't a fan of the new one either. It was missing a certain personality and flare needed to pull it off.
@@DoctorInk20 Unfortunately, I don't have that channel. I get a bare basic FreeSat package, that sometimes gets new channels but sometimes they go away. You are right though, the new one certainly didn't have that flare. What I saw of it, the contestants were all just watching TV exposure. I think there was a group of z-;list "celebrities" doing the challenge. Turned off half way through. Even the presenter didn't have that charismatic banter both the older presenters did.
Yeah, unfortunately there were certain things that Channel 4 'demanded' be in the new series, which in my opinion was partly what ended the new series.
Great vid. I made a little booklet with all the answers in (to the easier puzzles) just so I could get that last 'I cracked the Crystal Maze' logo on my screen. It's still in my Crystal Maze collection.
