The Crystal Maze was a skill with prizes (SWP) machine manufactured by Barcrest in 1993. These were £1 play/£5 Jackpot. The game was based on the Channel 4 TV series hosted by Richard O'Brien (of Rocky Horror Picture Show fame). Originally, with a decent amount of skill, it was possible to win the £5 almost every game, until later versions were reprogrammed, both by the number of Crystals it was possible to earn and by the minimum number of gold tokens available in the Crystal Dome. Crystal Maze & The New Crystal Maze (Featuring Ocean Zone) had a minimum of 60 gold tokens in the Crystal Dome, Crystal Maze 3 (Team Challenge) had a minimum 80 gold tokens in the Crystal Dome. All the reprogrammed versions had a minimum of 51 gold tokens in the Crystal Dome, making it very difficult to achieve the jackpot on the hard setting.
