When it blinks like that, it means the battery is undercharged from probably months, maybe years, of just sitting and it has to be caught up to the minimum safe usage levels.
Bro mine just blinks for literally hours and turns on and stops charging. Then after whatever it's charged up is used, it just dies and restarts the problem all over

I rarely comment on videos, but after binge watching this fantastic channel, I fired up my old soldering iron and fixed my son's Nintendo pro controller with a drift issue. I know this video is not related to controllers, but watching this is where it clicked for me. Keep doing what you're doing mate 👍

Great repair! These are getting rarer all the time because of how little the Vita was supported for. Makes for a great emulation handheld once jailbroken! Some say its even better than a New 3DS when it comes to emulation

Today thanks to your videos I tried repairing a keyboard of mine with a few non-functionning keys… turns out there was a short-circuit on the microchip due to two pins being bound together. I realized I need better equipment after I fried it. Heh… maybe using nothing but a soldering iron wasn't all that clever. :D Keep up the good work!

My fiance's PS Vita (white, oled, japan, 3g) just started blinking all the time and eventually had a dim orange light when charging. Intermittently, it wouldn't even light up. On the other hand, my PS Vita (black, oled, US, 3g) always drained (as was his) even without use. So I bought a two-pack of replacement SP65M batteries to replace his battery and mine for $14 USD equivalent. I opened his up and noticed the battery had 0V. A dead battery I thought. So I changed it with the new one and his PS vita still won't turn on, charge, or even light up. I opened up my own black unit and checked all new and old batteries and they were all working. I think the intermittent dim light and the zero voltage battery might be a sign of a short somewhere. I once opened up a bluetooth speaker that wouldn't charge and kept draining the battery -- turns out the charging chip was fried with a hole in the middle. I removed the charging circuit and put in an entire 18650 charging board from an old mini 18650 USB power bank and voila no more draining and the device charges again. Unfortunately his PSVita is still open in my working table. I can't access the underside of the board because the 3G module's screws are star/hex-shaped and stripped. I also noted that the unit had already been opened/repaired as the mainboard was missing a couple of screws. Anyhow, for your video, a blinking battery LED means a severely undercharged battery and its being charged slowly in an attempt to revive it. If the battery kept draining on its own, its probably time to get a new one. My black vita's new battery has been in idle for a couple of weeks now and not a single bar was drained. It won't even try to charge since the PSVita still sees it as full. Based on reviews I always thought that PS Vita batteries were just notorious at discharging but it seems like the battery is just bad already.

Just working through your huge backlog of videos! Don't know if you knew back then or still have this console now, but it was actually the original oled vita with 3g. I know you'll be aware that you can mod with a sd2vita card however with the 3g model you can take out the 3g module & replace it with psvsd. This is what I have done so now I have a 1tb vita that can still play physical games. Only problem I have is that I own about 550 games (thanks to ps+ & the vita playing digital ps1, psp & psp minis games) & the vita has a 500 bubble limit!
So many screw on one of those things. XD I love the Vita, it's a shame it was so underutilized (or mis... utilized?) I could go on about it, but I'll spare you. I wonder if it's possible to mod out that proprietary port with a USB-C or something. Your Patreon subs are just blowing up, huh? That's awesome!

RE: pin lengths it's actually good they're different sizes. It's the data and clock signal pins that are shorter on purpose to ensure that if there's a loose connection you lose data first since otherwise it could cause issues if there's data with no power as the console always expects both together. Also replacement charging ports are very cheap, please just replace it long term rather than just bending the pins back. Those pins look ready to snap or bend again at any moment and it'd probably be cheaper to replace the port(ebay has them from China for £1.25+free delivery) than any other suggestion.
My absolute favorite Foreigner album is the first one, brilliantly named “Foreigner”. Great little fix here, one I could probably never do because things are so small and my sight and hand agility are not capable of handling that 😞
I also have a TS100. The OLED displays on these are very sensitive to heat and start fading quickly. Can´t see anything on mine anymore. You can replace it. But the displays ribbon cable is soldered. So you´ll need a soldering iron to repair your soldering iron ...

This right here. You have no idea how many Vitas I got cheap around the 2016 to 2018 time on eBay because the Vitas refused to charge a critically low battery and the whole unit seemed dead to the previous owner. I wish I held on to them a bit longer to really cash in on them now though.
I was thinking the same thing myself. I'd depin the connector and charge the battery directly. I wouldn't have even looked at anything else at that point, only when I put it back together and saw it wasn't charging would I have went to more effort.
Nice work, definitely replace the port to ensure those pins don’t cause more trouble in the future. I’ve had my OLED Vita since just after launch and loved it, even though it ended up getting little use for a couple of years until I got into homebrew. It’s always been my experience as a gamer that charging could be faster than it is. Having said that, your battery was very low so it would need extra time to recover from that condition. I was surprised it hadn’t gone into a fault condition and the protection disconnected it. Tip: The PS button flashes if there isn’t enough charge to boot up, it lights up solidly when there is enough. My screen has an intermittent green vertical line that clears if I rap on the middle of it. Probably something needs resoldering with equipment I don’t have.
Early on in the video I didn’t think I saw the rear capacitive touch panel; at 4mins when you popped it open, I could see the ribbon cable wasn’t connected for it. Pressing on to see when you notice! (Connector for it is flat and next to the memory card slot)
