Does it detail the conversation without the annoying ethnic music? This would have been more enjoyable to watch if we could have listened to take off narrative, V1 point, rotate etc, rather than music.

I am a very nervous flyer and rarely fly unless I absolutely have to. However, I happen to live pretty near the Lambourne Beacon on the Heathrow flight path and love to watch the planes on approach or in the holding patterns. I understand the physics of flight but it still amazes me that these massive machines can stay in the air.

For a channel with so few followers, your production, narration and script in this video is amazing. Such an entertaining and obviously heartfelt video, it really felt like we were with you right there on the flight deck. As a fellow 50 year old man, this sings right to my heart. Well done.

OMG I am so jealous.!!! It's on my bucket list to. When I was 3yrs old my neighbours had a tiger mother. He'd take the whole family up for rides on the weekend in the summer months. Everyone had to sit me on their lap as you couldn't pry me out. I wouldn't get out for lunchtime and at days end they literally had to force my grip off and haul me out. At age 7 it was sold, my mum said I went into mourning. At age 10 I had my first go at taking the control of a six seater Cessna. Loved it. By the time I left college females were still not allowed to join the air force as a pilot so that dream got dashed. Work, marriage, kids....In 1988 I flew to Australia and on my flight home I asked if I could got up to the cockpit. I spent 2 hours up there but can't even remember what the plane was. I love flying and in a 2yr period from 2008-2010 I travelled the world and took over 150 flights. BUT I still love helicopters more. Age 8 was when I first experienced that. Oh Lord give me a chopper any day. Happy flying everyone.!!

Wow. Thank you algorithms for allowing me to happen across this. As a current A380 pilot with BA, this was pretty humbling, and moving (all credit to your editing skills). So often we’re regarded as glorified bus drivers or mere button-pushers, so thank you for such a heartfelt appreciation of this majestic beast, and the way she reacts to a gentle yet precise touch. That said, I’m convinced landing a sea plane is far more difficult! Followed and subscribed and look forward to watching your adventures unfold.

Wow! Thanks and welcome to the channel! Yup, there’s basically no book for seaplane operations. It’s why I love it so much! It really was a magical experience flying that giant in the sim. You already know how I hold you in very high regard, and as such I'm absolutely ecstatic for you in being able to live out one of your all time aviation dreams, and reconnect with those special childhood memories. 2 hours is not long at all, considering the complexity of the sim, but it looks like you handled everything well and your landing was awesome. I'm sure your cabin would have erupted into applause with that one. I'm very much looking forward to our long awaited day out flying together you promised me, it will be good!

1980 I also entered the cockpit of a 747 from the UK to LA, aviation was my life, several years later I visited Fairford airshow by riding my bike from Bristol to Swindon, simply had to go. I made the decision there & then to be on the other side of the ropes, a few more years later I was there the 1st Naval maintainer to fly in the EH101 helicopter to stand behind the ropes at the Fairford airshow. The power of dreams is real. Great video even better passion.

Good for you. All I ever wanted to do was be a BA pilot. My dad had his whole career with BA, but as a Senior manager not air crew. Alas, I was born in 1963, so when I was the age to be recruited, they had a ban on pilot recruitment from about 1980 until 1988. By the time they started recruiting again, I was too old to apply. I became an Accountant. I had mates who went off to the US to self fund their way to become pilots, and some eventually became career pilots, but not me. I was too busy chasing my career as an Accountant which I hated. Always regretted it. Now retired. Too late. I love the A380. I used to fantasize about piloting a 747, but I think an A380 must be about equal. I just love the idea of being in control of such a large but graceful craft. I don't know why, but light aircraft have never appealed to me, and neither did flying for the RAF and getting shot at!

As a former cabin crew with BA, now retired, and whenever loads were light in UD, I spent all the time I could in the flight deck of a 747 for TTOL, and it always struck me how easy the BA flight crew made it look, even when flying manually. After I retired, I had the opportunity to go in a 737 sim, and only then did I fully appreciate how demanding it really is, even in a relatively smaller 737!

My dream you've experienced.. I flew in the cockpit of a DC-10 and I think it was the Empress of Fiji from Honolulu to Vancouver on CP air in 1983 and that sealed my flying ambitions.. I now have a commercial license albeit lapsed (light aircraft and multi, floats) and imagine this often.. I sometimes hope that the flight crew gets ill from an overcooked Swanson dinner and a flight attendant runs back and asks, is there a pilot on board! lol... Awesome video Charlie. When I was 14 my first holiday abroad changed my life when I was lucky enough to experience a cockpit landing in an Airtours International B757. On leaving school I joined the same airline in the ground operations team and managed to work there for 21 years. Sitting in the flight deck was a regular occurrence when I went on flights. I have since gained a PPL and have managed to get myself in to an A320 and B737 simulator at Burgess Hill. Expensive but worth it. You have described the same feelings I had.

I can really resonate with your experience as an 8 year old, I had something similar as a 23 year old in 1995 flying from Tokyo to Hong Kong on Cathay pacific. Being an incredibly nervous flier I requested to meet the pilot for a minute or two, my wish was granted to go into the cockpit of a 747 just as we were approaching Taiwan. We could see two thirds of the beautiful island and it was wonderful. Sadly those days are now gone and I count myself very fortunate. Many thanks Paul

For someone like me, watching intently, and trying to live the moment through you, I cannot for the life of me fathom why all that should be completely destroyed by background music.

Horses for courses, sorry! Try the longer version of the cut, no music. Linked to in description.

Have to wonder how many kids would have grown up wanting to be pilots now if we didn't lock the doors over a few extremists.

It is just sad that I won't be able to fly or experience the a380s in the future because they will all be grounded then.

They are out of production, but (somewhat improbably) airlines have been bringing their A380 back into service - the most notable ones are Lufthansa and Etihad, BA all of which had grounded their entire A380 fleet and have recently started flying them again. Emirates (who never stopped flying them) have also bought them back on a number of routes that had previously been switched to smaller aircraft.
