So you said you were looking for 120 to 130 F on the high side. I understand if may have been off because of the cap line. What did it end up being? Also, what were the final operating pressures? I imagine 0ish on the low side. But what about the high? Last I saw was 112 which seems low. I'm trying to learn how to adjust for a system that may just be a little low on refrigerant.
The altech gauges im not happy with them cause i was struggling to see the reading .dnt they sell or have the ones with illumination so that wen you working at night thanx
Going through all that trouble. Replacing Why didn't you just recharge? Same compressor with 134 l Have a R22 AC system. And as we all know now at this time, R22 Is astronomical In price Because In 2020 it was phased out. So I Recovered and Filter changed Then recharged my system with R134a same compressor And all components. Works fine, no issues. But have lost some on the efficiency level.
I have converted systems from R22 with 438A with very good success. I worked for an offshore drilling company that is very environmentally friendly. We had about 60 units on our rig. We had everything from 3 ton mini splits and 15-30 ton semi-hermtics to a few 60 ton units, many systems charged with well over 100 lbs of refrigerant. I am talking thousands of pounds of refrigerant. I never had an issue with the R438A refrigerants. We replaced our service valves as well as the mineral oil. POE is not required for 438A. The operating pressures and temperatures are very close to the same and efficiency is very similar.
Salvage them from rotten fridges and freezers… test them then flush and fill with nitrogen, crimp the ports and braze them shut for storage. Just don’t use excessivly old compressors or ones that look overheated or very rusty.
Not necessary on this junk. It'll last longer than the refrigerator. You're lucky to get 2 years without a repair. If you vacuum from both sides it's not that big of a deal. Only on large systems. Besides you're not brazing a filter dryer with nitrogen flowing it'll blow out the joint.
