Watching this, it feels like MatPat's way of thinking and looking closely at everything worked against him a bit here. Feels like his mind has a much more "logically stiff" way of looking at things than the more "simple yet flexible" mindset this game's series tends to lean towards

Yeah notice how he uses the eyepiece, he only puts it on for a second to look at a specific area and then takes it off as if he can't do anything else while it is on. This prevents him from viewing the puzzle holistically, not seeing the forest through the trees.

I used to play it when I was like 8, and I think it’s one of the reasons I’m so obsessed with lore and puzzle solving nowadays, though I couldn’t really appreciate the lore when I was younger and I would just give it to my sister whenever I got stuck 😭

The puzzle where you need to match up the rings that seemed to not work unless the image was turned the right way, despite it looking the same had a part that you missed. If I remeber correctly, that puzzle had a second image that could only be seen with the eyepiece. MatPat managed to brute force it before he could figure that out unfortunately.

I played this game as a kid, oh my gosh!!!! This is by far my favorite mystery game series of all time. I’m thrilled that you’re playing this, Matt! Tips without spoilers: -Every new area, whether it’s useful or not, try to check it with the lenses. There are things easy to miss. -If something is no longer useful it disappears from your inventory so if you use something and it’s still there try giving it a closer look. I am so here for the om. I loved this series, played every one. Got so addicted, when I ran out I ended up buying and playing a ton of those shitty seek n' find games just to get my fix. The money and time I've spent watching crappy paper doll animation, listening to horrible voice acting just to capture an ounce of the feeling I got from these games. This series is, IMO, simply the BEST puzzle box/escape room games...and they are the 1st cell phone games of their kind, considering this 1st game in the series was released 11 years ago in 2012, just 5 years after the 1st iPhone came out. The Room series is some of the best puzzle games available. And it only gets better as it goes along. Some good brain-scratchers throughout and the eldritch lore that slowly reveals itself is genuinely intriguing. The only limiting factor is that, by the time of the fifth game, the devs have branched out into VR, so if you don't have a VR setup, you can't really play it, which is a shame. The first four are playable otherwise without requiring a special setup though.

Remember, this game is over 10 years old and was developed as a phone game. I love each of these games. You really do get a lot for your money. And, the actual LORE! gets more evolved with each game. Very like MYST in some ways.

I don’t think Matpat noticed, but Rev 6:05 was likely a reference to the Bible verse Revelations 6:5, as it talks about a third seal being broken (which parallels the three seals on the box) and it then talks about the third horsemen of the apocalypse, which may mean something in the lore of this game. I’m not sure if that’s the case though.

Tysm GTLive for playing one of the most influential puzzle game series that I've ever played. I personally grew up with The Room 2, but then I ended up playing every other installation too lol. I can only recommend you playing through each and every installation. You can really see the different games improving on graphics and mechanics over time. The lore, the aesthetics and everything else have inspired the lore of my own Cartoons a lot. Happy puzzle solving and here are a few final tips: • You can enable hints in the settings and use them in the top left once you are stuck. • If you feel stuck, before looking at hints, try equipping the eyepiece beforehand to look for clues. • Once you have added an item to your inventory, always check it if it's interactive.

OH MY GOD I USED TO LOVE THIS GAME!!! This just unlocked such a deep memory of my childhood. I remember playing it for HOURS during a family Christmas when I was like 10, and I enjoyed myself so much. Then I was devastated that the third and fourth games cost money since my parents said I could only download free apps on their phones!! I've been trying to figure out/ remember which game tiny me played that one time for LITERAL YEARS and now I get to go back and play it again. Nostalgia hit full force and making my heart so happy :)

Legit shrieked when I saw the game you were playing!! The Room series is my FAVORITE to play and replay. They kept upping the ante with each title and there is so much more lore in the other games that I’m seriously hoping an actual Theory video comes out of this. Nothing makes me happier than seeing matpat’s play the game that got me in the game lore to begin with. The masterpiece of all puzzle box games that people would play on their phone on the school bus. I can’t believe GT live, hasn’t played yet
