I’m a firm believer that when you’re starting out you buy loads of cheap stuff then as they die off replace with higher quality. Plus it means you’re not spending a fortune on something you rarely use.

Yea that stanley screwdriver set is cheap and awesome. I started with that and only bought the most used type of drivers from a more expensive line/brand.

I started with cheap screwdrivers. Sadly, it took me a few years to realise I saw spending money on cheap tools. I've started replacing cheap tools with much better quality ones as the cheap ones die. As you said. Good way to see what you actually use compared with what you buy THINKING you need.

In my tinkering days owning a T2 campervan I started exactly like this and just progressed as I went along preferring Halfords professional as they have lifetime guarantee. I returned a 3ft breaker bar that broke after failing to remove the flywheel with a scaffold bar as leverage with no issues. My go to Philips screwdriver though was a cheap thing from Wilco I think? Great video👍

I like that canvas bag setup with the two layers of foam inside. I thought about gluing the two layers back to back then a plywood handle between them to help take them out, guess you couldn't lay the two pieces side by side then when removed. Some good deals you got there, would be difficult to beat and include an impact drill. You can miss me out of the draw, I already have waaaay too many allen key sets.

Honestly its just nice to see that you don't have to spend £1000s to get the basics for DIY or modifications. This vid is great for people wanting to be independent but having no idea where to start, absolutely love this concept!

Great haul… the Allen keys have to be the sale of the century, and being ball ended are great for wriggling into hard to reach locations where you can’t get bang in line with the bolt head 😄

Seen those 6 in 1 screwdrivers before, I had a job where we were installing routers in telephone boxes and the router was supplied with one of those, its the most useful screwdriver I've ever had, I stashed a box full and I've slowly used them over the 15 years or so. Ran out last year but managed to find identical ones (just a different colour) on one of the chinese web sites, order a bunch while they were still available. Stanley stuff has always been good to me, its basic but reliable. Good find on the Makita drill, used Makita for years and the only issue I ever had was batteries wearing out because I used them too much. All in all a good haull and good call using your local small suppliers, always a few good bargains to be had in the smaller places.

I have always been one to look for bargains when I comes to tools, but it is usually at a compromise of quality. I think you did well to get a good selection of budget tools that should do the job nicely. Best deal I think was the drill for sure, though I am also wary buying 2nd hand tools as you sometimes don't know where they came from.

I agree but the staff assured me that gave checks before they take items and I gave it a test before buying it!
