Welcome to Shojiki Gaming!
Let's scare ourselves witless in some 7 Days to Die! Now that Version 1 Experimental has released, it's time for us to gear up and take on the zombie apocalypse in a brand new Let's Play series on INSANE difficulty!
In this episode, we take a look at the new challenge system and search for a place to call home for the night. Will I regret setting the game to max difficulty? Am I going to regret this decision? And how many shotgun shells does it take to fell a feral zombie? Find out next...

I think you should definitely consider dropping the difficulty down one or two levels, the game is hard enough especially when you are still learning like me - give yourself a chance. Enjoying watching you come in fairly blind, which is how alot of players coming back to try 1.0 are probably feeling. Maybe try spears - longer range - although you've sank points into Clubs now. It's worth stopping to smash tree stumps as you have a chance to find Honey. Keep it coming, eagerly awaiting day 2!

You may be right good sir. I think I'll give it one more day on this difficulty and see how our (slightly) upgraded club skills serve us. Then we may have to consider a difficulty drop 🤣 Actually, completely forgot about spears. May still be worth a shot! And thankyou for the tip on tree stumps, now you mention it, I recall doing that waaay back, so will have to keep my eyes peeled going forward!

Let's hope it's the right one! INSANE difficulty makes it feel like a whole new game so we're going to have to adjust our approach if we hope to survive this time around!

The zombie at 17:42 is a spider. They shriek and jump on you. At night they become much faster.

Aaaah that's what they are called! I assumed they were feral as they look like the old models for feral zombies. But what you've said makes much more sense.. So they can climb too... oh great 🤣

@@ShojikiGaming They used to, but not anymore. Instead they jump freaking far. BTW "feral" is a status, like a trait. There are normals, ferals and radiated. Ferals look like normal Z's, but they have glowing eyes.

Haven't seen the rest of the series yet but after 2 starts in this game I found knives to be best early melee. Fast attack, little sta use, and bleed make it pretty good weapon.

@@gravdigr27 A few people have mentioned this and it's something I never really thought about. I just assumed knives were for skinning animals.. We've started to find our groove with melee somewhat in the newer videos, but I might have to check out knives if we find/craft a good one! 😁

Enjoy your vid. Chuckled a bit. Here in the northeast US it was 32c (91 in freedom units). The dark leather seat in the car was a bit spicy today.

@@gravdigr27 Oof, that is a bit spicy! We've had a couple of relatively hot summers the last couple of years (almost 40c at one point), but this year has certainly been a bit more gentle... Doesn't stop us complaining about the heat though! 🤣

I strongly recommend getting Parkour up to level 2 as soon as possible in any game. Being able to jump to areas or over, that zombies can't is a huge plus. They kinda nerfed the zombies a bit. Something like some have higher healths/higher hit points. With the trader, they increased quest completion to 10 before you get the good rewards, but they now open at 4am instead of 6. Still close at 2200. HAHA! I'm using the same house to set up as my base! Craft a sledgehammer since you are going into pummel pete 😉

Haha great minds think alike! It hadn't occurred to me that Parkour would help with that. Definitely need to look into improving those skills then! With the difficulty increase, i'm going to need all the help i can get, so it's good to hear the traders open sooner. More time to loot then! 😅 Thanks for the sledgehammer tip too. I guess that will help greatly with removing staircases etc, so will be a huge benefit when securing a base!

Haha, i'm by no means an expert on this game, but at the very least, you can learn from my mistakes 🤣 So glad consoles are finally getting a release now too. The game has it's flaws but it's great fun to play, and hopefully with the influx of new console players, we'll have some exciting updates to look forward too!

Yeah it gets quite cosy in my room when i have the green screen up and my pc on. That slight bump in temperature outside plays havoc with my established eco system 😅

use the axe for the chickens and bunnies.... as long as u dont have a knife....also, insane difficulty but no daytime sprinting zombies is deffo not the hardest setting ;D

I played Navezgane Map on Alpha 2.1 3 weeks before New v1.0 came out its simply and horrible map to survive and thrive, i explored all the map and towns, and the largest town are really small compared to the random generated world, also only 5 traders and most quests will be far away.

Ah that's a little disappointing to hear actually. Had hoped for a a big city. It's been so long since i played Navezgame, i don't remember any of it... Well we're committed to it for this series at least, so we'll just have to hope we find what we need to survive! 😅

Whys didn't you use your axe to 'punch' the chicken? The circle icon on you hotbar is a hot swap, you can bind a key or mouse button to use it... I forget to use it, old dog, new tricks, etc. I find the pipe machine gun is a good 'oh crap' weapon as it has a 15 round mag, and my aim is bad. If you want distance, try spears. Also, if you change the blocks to ladders you can climb up them instead of nerd poleing.

Some great tips here! Honestly, i don't know why i punched the chicken instead of axing it. I guess in my head i was thinking i need a bone knife and didn't have one at the time. Blame it on narrating whilst playing, and not having enough coffee IRL 😅 I'll have to see if i can craft a pipe machine gun - don't think i;ve ever tried one before and that would definitely help with the "s**t it's a dog" moments!

From what i've seen, zombies only occasionally drop loot bags now, unless you mean i can butcher their bodies after they fall? May have to investigate, but it seems everyone in the world of 7DtD had a propensity for storing bones in their cupboards, so hopefully it shouldn't be too hard to get some!😂

Insane difficulty requires a cheese addiction. I am playing again for the first time in over a year and I have never played on this difficulty but does the bleeding a knife causes scale with the difficulties? Because if it doesn't, the knife does a pitiful amount of damage but the bleed takes a chunk of health from the zombie in a percentage, which might come in handy. The reach might be an issue but what can you do.

Yeah, a few people have suggested using the knife while zombies are on the floor or behind a broken door. So, if i can remember to do it during the heat of battle, i'll give it shot! 😁

Yeah my friend mentioned the same thing, should give me better range, which i'm going to need now if i'm going to take out zombies without getting hit! 😅
