Actually that is a very good tip. I recall seeing people do that before, so may be a good way to block them in doorways etc. Let's see if i can remember on the next video i record! 😁
Food needs to be a priority... hurts to see you ignore the bird nests for eggs, tree stumps, etc. Not sure what the drop chance for honey now is, but I found in the alphas it averaged out at about 25%, Also, if you're right by crops in a POI, pick them before activating the zombies! There were potato plants as well as the corn plants in the one with the little tower. Also, don't ignore the trash bags and boxes early game... you can find a lot of useful things in them.
As i'm playing, i am conscious of all the things i'm missing, but i'm so focused on clearing the trader quests as quickly as possible, that they are taking 2nd place in my priorities. 😅 That being said, things are starting to look better on the later days, so our focus is shifting towards a more sustainable future! ☺
This seems to be the general consensus so far. Tempted to try one more day now that we have a better grasp on stamina management, but if we don't make much progress, down a level it will go! 😁
I've loved all the connections i've been making with you guys! I think we'll have to look at setting up a discord server soon, so we can all have some proper chats! 😁
Glad i can give you guys an idea of what to expect when the console release drops! I may not be an expert by any means, but at least we're making progress! 😂
I know right? Very humbled by everyone who's subbed. And it's been amazing getting so many comments and tips. Genuinely feel like this has increased my love of games even more. Hopefully I can do you guys justice 😊
@@Kaedevirus Thankyou, really appreciate it 😊 And hey, if you and the rest of the community have any suggestions of other games you'd like to see (alongside 7DtD of course), let me know!
@@ShojikiGaming Well, I did mention Underrail under Fallout video, as you seemed to enjoy the classic Fallout. I imagine you'd enjoy State of Decay as well. There's so many great games out there I don't want to overwhelm you with the recommendations, as you may have your ideas on what to play.
@@Kaedevirus Ah yes, you did indeed mention Underrail! I'm adding it to my steam wishlist as we speak as a reminder to myself ☺ I actually completed State of Decay a long time ago, however i do have the sequel, so that may be another one to go on the list since i never finished it!
I've been playing 1.0 for a while now and i feel like you can lvl up faster and find book way easier i rarely come across paper in bookshelves, book piles, desk, and mailboxes and so on. sometimes finding up to 4 books if not more. which is nice because it still takes a while to build your base and gear up without become op early on through the questing by getting higher tier gear. just to clarify im playing on the normal loot and difficulty.
try insane, the book drop rate is worse,z's are tankier as "tourist" has 2k hp,enable zombie sense to make it more realistic as well as drop all on death and xp penalty.thnx to the new update to 1.0 i can only manage 8 quests a day(unless ur on tier 1 then youll have to cheese it by reloading in to spawn new quests)
Yeah there certainly seems to be an abundance of skills books if you know where to find them. In the last series i had an air drop and i'm sure there were at least 5-6 books in it!
I would suggest a two pronged offense against zombies. Club them down, then knife the beaker is until it's dead. There is little to no stamina use with the bone knife. If you aren't comfortable with "in your face" melee, the spear rocks.
@@ShojikiGaming and getting at least one knife stab in will start some bleed damage, which will be lowering their health anyway until you kill them or they bleed out.
It's funny, because i could have sworn i tried putting a pot and grill on the campfire on a previous playthrough and it didn't work. But maybe i didnt realise the fire was on at the time! Will have to try again 😅
best advice i can give you is 2 things.1: learn your hotkeys/quick buttons and 2:IzPrebuilt vids because he always helps new players but does it on insane mode.personally id suggest priority looting and questing till you hit stage 3 quests then switch it to base priorities.(you gotta have the gear for horde night)
Haha yes, hotkeys have always been an issue for me for some reason. Whether it's an MMO or a survival game, i always end up either clicking them with the mouse or using the mouse scroll.. Definitely need to train my brain. Only been playing games for 35 years... 🤣 Priority looting and questing is definitely the plan. After the last series, i'm not too worried about the first horde, providing i can find a roof to hide on. That should give us more time to get prepared for the future hordes!
@@ShojikiGaming cemetaries work great as the walls deter the large hordes then you can use spike traps in the courtyard as you ride it out on the roof(just make sure u make a stabby cage for pesky birds as in the 1.0 version they can spawn on horde night 1 if your out of reach since the A.I spawns em in to encourage melee combat) and use barb fences between the spike traps to further increase the dmg they receive from spikes. also take note if you struggle with the key binds that there is a box icon that can insta "drop from bag to box same item" next to your inventory reaarange button.also id recommend just playing a creative world to learn keybids to 'quick loot, loot specific, drop all ,drop duplicate items'it does help immensely because you want to always be moving and never hindered and get those pesky vehicles as soon as possible for late game loot carry capacity ill keep watching your series and if i see some probs you might run into ill try give as may tips & tricks as possible but just know that from a strength build the best armours are gonna be light and medium armours early game(like ranger or nomad) as these armours are gonna keep you better maintained and for int or agility builds id recommend assassin and raider armor since the overall crit resistence will be more beneficial early game)
@@mcrispywerewolf Oh wow, loads of helpful info here, thankyou! I'm going to try and remember all this as we continue our desperate attempts to survive, although my memory is terrible, especially under pressure, so forgive me if I make some mistakes 😅 And thankyou for the heads up about the birds. If you've watched my previous series you'll know how much I love the wildlife in this game 🤣 I guess a stabby cage is going to need iron? If so, we best keep an eye out for Forge Ahead magazines... Whether we manage that before the first horde, only time will tell! 😁
@@ShojikiGaming on horde night 1 you wont really need steel or concrete unless ur game stage is above 39. Don't waste ammo, lvls aren't worth the ammo and progression cap you place on yourself and remember to be mindful of the skills you pick as you level since the books drop accordingly. (also after trial and error i found that if you increase medical skill early on and daring adventurer you tend to find more books in crates as i have now come across a few in POI's where i had x4 forge ahead, x2medjournals, 1 skill book(usually lucky looter or night stalker) and 1 weapon book)
@@mcrispywerewolf That's interesting - i didn't realise that the skills you choose have an effect on the books that drop! Admittedly, i haven't been skilling up with a particular build in mind, and have generally just chosen skills that benefit me in the short term.. This may come back to bite me eventually, but at least we have the option to respec if we decide we've spread them too thinly down the line! 😅
I hadn't even considered what their actual names were in the game files! 😅 I'll have to try and remember to give at least one of each zombie their proper name at some point!
It certainly feels like a winning combo! I've made a mental note to craft up some spikes and trapdoors and see which is most effective. Welcome to the community! 😁
Swimming, while holding the spacebar keeps your head above water. It does not work so well without stamina. Cardio is the stamina skill. I just subbed have played over 5000 hours in 7D2D. I got LOTS of tricks 😢
Haha sorry, it's been a crazy few days recently so didn't get a chance to record. However i'm planning on recording Day 3 and 4 tonight. With any luck, i can get Day 3 uploaded by tomorrow evening, and Day 4 the following evening. Still trying to nail down a proper schedule, but having a family tends to mean adapting on the fly!😅
@@Dire8 Maybe we'll give it one more day and see how many trader quests we get through, then decide for sure. I'm leaning towards dropping it slightly, but at the same time, if we can manage our stamina efficiently, we might be ok on the current setting! Yeah those snakes do tend to show their faces at the worst times. At least they give a decent amount of meat 🤣
Thanks cakebabyman (love the name)! Yeah, every time i do a cheesy nerd pole, i tell myself i should build a ladder. 😅 Once we're settled in to a proper base, this will be one of the first things i do!
Without spoiling too much, we've invested in some handy perks that helps greatly when taking on the zombie threat. Check out the later videos to see what i mean! 😁 Welcome to the community!
I had wondered if motion blur was going to bother people. I turned it off in between episodes on the last series and it looked really bad when i turned my head, so put it back on. I guess if enough people would prefer it turned off, i can do that though. I'll try and remember to mention it in the next video i record and see what the community thinks ☺
I've seen a few comments on reddit about the zombie and animal population seeming to be lower in this update. I believe animals definitely were reduced, however unsure on zombies. Probably best there's not too many whilst we find our feet. Day 5 will make up for that somewhat... 😅
