Playing a tiebreaker while serving and volleying on EVERY POINT!
In this video, I challenge 2022 NE10 Player of the Year Jonathan Berling to a tiebreaker match, but the challenge is we HAVE TO serve and volley every point when we serve. Serving and volleying is regarded as a LOST art in the tennis world now. Players struggle to serve and volley because racquet technology has made it difficult and players can return so much better now.
Even some of the best players in the world like Andrei Rublev, Daniil Medvedev, Casper Ruud and Taylor Fritz do not use the serve and volley.
See what happens when we serve and volley on every point!

I grew up watching the majority of tennis - before I even picked up a racquet in the 80's - 90's. The serve and volley style is what I love about the game and if you dedicate yourself to it you will sharpen up your serve until its a deadly weapon - it is the catalyst to this style, your hands improve because you want to finish points at the net, your foot work will get sharper and boy will you have an aggressive mindset on court because the idea is to end your opponent before they even have a chance to play. That said it's tougher these days to play because of the speed and power generated by swings styles and equipment

Very nice. Your first serve was on. I don't think you missed a first. I read long ago stat which I'm not sure is still valid. It was if you do nothing other than rush the net and stand there you win 60% of the points. Might be true since it puts pressure on the returner to hit winner.

I would say that is true as long as you hit some quality with your serve and/or approach shots. Going to the net on the wrong shot or serve would probably end up in a 20% win of points 😂

What kind of serve do you usually play on a serve and volley play? Something with more of a kick or wide out to give you time to come in?

The majority of times I would try and use a kick serve, however I do use it when hitting a slice serve and even a flat serve once in awhile. Just to mix things up. A kick serve with height gives you time to close the net and get in a better volley position 👍

looks like less energy/quicker points when you're doing the S&V. Is Jon being nice and not doing the short/wide ad serve or is it a gimmick that doesn't work at your level?
@MPTennis
@MPTennis 5 месяцев назад
Definitely when you do it sporadically. I think if you were to do it every single point in a match, that could get tiring sprinting to the net every point. I don't think Jon was being nice. He did miss some first serves and probably was going out wide then. He wants to win, so he definitely wasn't being nice. 😁 The slice serve out wide is deadly when done properly and Jon has a good one.

The only problem with the short/out wide serve is it becomes less effective on serve and volley at a higher level. Angle creates angle both down the line and cross court on a wide serve
