Simple answer : NO ; to reform is to object to word of Allah as in Quran and thus no reformation can be brought . Only way to reform Muslims is for people to renounce the crude traditionalist islamic perspective and maybe retain any spiritual learnings in Quran if there are . As long as they remain people of the book , any reform/ co-existence in harmony is dubious .
You are right. There are even more resason why Islam can't be reform. I have been studying about islam form 2014 and even talked and listened to experts in Arabic. No one agrees that Islam can be reformed. Everyone who belives that islam can be reformed are the one who have never read Quran and hadith.
That may be true but the interpretations can be changed and modernized to fit the 21st century. I think that will a good middle ground that can actually be palatable for most Muslims.

The Shaktha tradition in Hinduism equally treats men and women. Both are eligible for mantra initiation and all the Pooja paddhati. I am a practicing Shaktha and can vouch for it. There are traditions in the Hindu faith that are equal for both genders.

Leave aside Muslims; even the majority of Hindus don't understand the concept of Brahman. Not even those who are spiritual gurus. Our own people don't know the true nature of the divine. Recently, I had a debate with a Muslim and just couldn't grasp the idea of Advaita. It's like I'm trying to make a fifth-class kid understand Einstein-level physics. In pune recently, a trained mbbs doctor was caught operating isis module. This shows that traditional education which tells people that all religions are equal and are path to God doesn't help. We need to teach people that all religions equal in only one sense that they are all man-made and are all used to control masses with examples of what they have done wrong historically. If you try to modify any one religion it will backfire, they will claim they are being targeted and will also point out flaws in other religions. International pressure will be another big issue. Only solution to religious extremism is to teach truth about all religions. But politicians won't go for it as it's (religion)a convenient tool for them as well. i think it would be beneficial for you to look into the works of Prof Sayyed Hossein Nasr and Shaykh Fadhlalla Haeri. They seem to represent an islam which holds onto the spiritual aspects of islam and embrace a perennial philosophy and more of a advaita/sufi concept of one God in the sense of one reality manifesting in a multitude. Prof Nasr also supports the Idea of Idols in Hindu being divine images rather than mere idols. He shows in his biography of proph Muhammad that the proph protected the images of mary and jesus from being destroyed as he saw them as sacred divine images.

There is one best way which can be done is to bring the muslims back to sanatan dharma by accepting them and mixing them slowly with us.. and this has to be strongly and openly backed by our dharma gurus. They smuggled weapons in the Grand Mosque in coffins. People used to bring dead bodies for the blessings of Imam. In November 1979, they started the assault on the mosque. They were all well trained in the military warfare. They were well prepared. They managed to capture the Grand Mosque for more than a month. Saudi government was caught off guard. They had to call French commandos to rescue the mosque. After mess was sorted out, Saudi government scrapped all the reforms and went back to being staunch Wahabis. They even allocated huge money so that the same extreme ideology can be preached in the mosques worldwide. I am afraid something similar does not happen as a result of MBS doing reforms in Islam.

On the thought experiment mentioned I want to add that in Shia Islam it is allowed to lie to saves your life or someone elses. Called taqiya. No religion's metaphysics is overtly simplified as that of eastern religions to make them understandable to others, it is almost making it what it is not.
According to hindu philosophy, explained by Vivekananda, religious practices of worshipping, prayers,rituals are only physical practices to inspire spirituality but by themselves cannot be considered spirituality. Spirituality is journey inwards through the mind and religion is external expression and regimentation. In that sense even an atheist can be spiritual without a belief in God since that person could be enquiring about aspects of this world not perceived by the senses.

Grounds according to which islam can’t be reformed, but before going there we first know how other religions were reformed Hinduism- not a single book governing religious principles, so it’s easy to bring change and also the nature of religion is to seek Christianity- though the religion has ‘one’ book but the religion leans towards mercy and forgiveness etc.. Islam- the problem with islam is that this religion is highly political, if you here islamic satsang😅 you will feel that the content is highly geopolitical and least spiritual(if spirituality is a thing😅) but when you hear the satsang of Christianity’s Sunday service or hindu’s satsang you will find that these religion talk more about life and god and values and not geopolitics
