Great video! It’s funny, seeing people’s reactions! Those who haven’t ridden a Brompton think they’re just urban commuter bikes, but they’re so capable! They make great tourers and as you’ve demonstrated, are perfectly capable for hilly day rides. I’ve used mine for, loaded touring, club runs and even the 26mile gravel circuit of Kielder!

What an effort. I've done these climbs on my super-light carbon fibre bikes, and they are tough! Well done for making it to the end, and for raising money for a great cause too!
Squeaky suspension block a well-known touring problem. Solution is to remove the bolt holding it in place, lubricate the bolt with silicone grease, and put it back. Nasty, mysterious squeak gone!
That’s very interesting! I assumed it was over tightened or worn out rubber but guess the noise is from the rubber rubbing against the bolt 🤷♂️ thanks for the comment

Yeah it’s really annoying!! The most frustrating feature they introduced 😬. Interesting to know it was from new cause I was blaming a worn plastic insert but even with it crazy over tight would still slip. Now grateful I bought the extended post! Thanks for the comment and supporting 👌
I always loved the idea of doing a sportive on a Brompton and overtaking everybody on expensive racing bikes - you're living the dream 😂. Then I stopped riding that often and just use the Brommie for shops and odd fun ride around reservoirs. Think I'd need said racing bike just to keep up these days. Will give the extended post a look - never considered it before as I'm not overly tall, but sounds like it could help.
@@philthewriter thanks for the reply. Yeah definitely helps with the slipping post because they lower down the post the less leverage it has to slip and more do the post to grip. I does feel good on a sportive to overtake not going to lie but can’t help the feeling said people being overtook feel lol My main bike is a BMC road machine but consistently now find myself reaching for the Brompton for fun. Working hard to raise funds for the Brompton T line because I feel it will bridge a massive weight gap and allow even harder and steeper sportives
@@TheBromptonGuy Yes maybe. I used to be a strong rider like you, but the last couple of years rather let myself go because of family commitments, just no time to ride everyday like I used to. I was riding around 35-40 miles each day commuting to and from work, some times 60 if I rode the full distance which I did in summer. Couldn't do that anymore. But yes maybe next year I'll give the event a go on my Brompton. You can be my lead out man ;@). ATB.
I wish I could call my self a strong rider all I have In my arsenal is a strong metabolism and good cardio lol. I have two kids myself and agree it gets tough (very tough). Mate honestly if you do it would get great to catch up. Bring my cinema camera to the start line next year to try and get interviews with the riders so maybe you can make a cameo. The aim is to get a fleet of Bromptons at the start line.@@alexmorgan3435

Without a doubt!! I have a later video where I climb a steep hill on a 3speed Brompton with a 54t chainring!! Maintain that was my single hardest ever effort yet. Thanks for supporting
my brom seatpost slipped ,i put another seat clamp onto the post itself to stop it slipping into seat tube as if you overtighten the actual clamp you can crack frame!. I put a 40t front chainring on mine
Yeah apparently changing the plastic sleeve helps resolve the issue 🤷🏻♂️ That said the telescopic seat is very good for people over 6ft 2 Thanks for watching

Need please feel free to be a weight weenie!! Unfortunately I don’t have and answer cause I didn’t measure before hand 🫣. However the M line is proper heavy 🤪 need to take its weight at some point
Thanks for the interest in the setup!! I love tech and could talk about setup for weeks. This ride was shot only with the Insta360 and my phone which does ad a little weight but the bike is the bigger problem. I then shot the drone footage the following date. Currently looking a practical ways to have my drone with me also so it’s easier to get on the day aerials which would look so much better!! Again it’s why I’m working my butt off to try and get a T line cause that weight savings means carry more kit to make the content is possible. I’ll maybe make a video when it’s all fully refined.
Hi, I have bought and fitted the GP3 grips, did you have to cut yours down a fraction, they don't seem to sit far enough onto the bar for the end to be tightened up and I can't shift the brake/shifter because it's already as far as it can go along the bar before it hits the curve ?@@TheBromptonGuy
I had read this before buying mine they required to be cut by about 1cm. However both my GP4 and GP2 didn't require me to cut them at all 🤷🏻♂@@grahamricketts-bq1ft

Thanks for the comment and feedback. All that is already recorded my friend 😬 pre recorded 6months worth of content and all that is covered. All I’ll say is you’re going to wanna see the content towards the end of October 👌 Hope you’re well and thanks for supporting the channel. But in short for just now the grips are Ergon GP4 grips and would refer to them as the second most practical upgrade for any Brompton.
